The adaptive brightness needs a fix.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:14 PM PDT

I have been using OnePlus 7 for a while now. I have no complaints yet except the adaptive brightness thing. When using my phone in darkness, it behaves abnormally. Whenever I open a webpage or something that has a white bg the screen brightens up causing discomfort. This needs be fixed.

What screen protector do you recommend for OP6?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 06:49 PM PDT

I had the glass one before, but it shattered, so I took it off and now need a new one. Any recommendations would be amazing!

This phone is seriously tough (7 Pro).

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:48 AM PDT

So today i, stupidly, placed my phone on top of my friends car as we talked for a few minutes and reminded myself "hey dumbass don't forget your phone on top of the car". What did I do? I forgot my phone on top of the fucking car.

Phone flies off at 15 MPH, hits the road, falls out of the case and continues skidding. 15 minutes later I realise I don't have my phone and go searching. Found it on the ground with a few scuff around the band but not a single scratch on the screen or back of the phone.

Definitely makes me more confident in the build quality of the phone.

Also, don't buy the Poetic hybrid case from Amazon. Because of the way they cut the camera out the case falls off with almost no force needed. It's garbage.

Glad to be back in the OnePlus family! (6T)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:27 PM PDT

I used to have an iPhone 4S way back when, then I switched to OnePlus One and used it for 4 years, then gave it to my Dad (who still uses it today).

After that I thought I'd give Xiaomi a try, and I got their premium line (Mi Mix 2), for about the same price as the latest OnePlus at the time. Don't want to knock on Xiaomi or anything... MIUI has its moments, (that full screen navigation gesture is just amazing). Never had any ads on it, and in general the build of the phone was brilliant and I was happy with it...

...until I got bored. I really missed the OnePlus, the stock Android, the snappy features, and the general great reviews on the YouTube tech videos made me long for it.

So 2 years on, and since I had made up my mind that I would never spend more than $350-$400 on a phone... the 7 Pro was out of question, so I got the 6T for $350

Hate notches with a passion, so the first thing I did was hide it, then installed the latest gcam mod and was good to go. You all know all the things we love about OnePlus phones so I don't want to get repetitive here.

One complaint I do have (it's small but it still bothers me) is that... since I use full screen gesture navigation, whenever I want to quickly use the gesture to switch to the previous app, the animation drops a couple of frames as it comes on. And Chrome and other heavy apps have a some scroll lag here and there while browsing large pages. Thought it would be buttery smooth... Has anyone gotten around this?

Anyway, long story short, glad to be back in the family!

    OP and Spotify.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:32 PM PDT

I've never faced this issue but my OP6 keeps causing an issue with Spotify. Supposed I'm playing a song and I'm browsing through Reddit and start playing a video here, (the app would normally pause the song and play when the video stops) the Spotify app shuts down, and when the video finishes, I have to open Spotify and play the song from the beginning.

Why is that??? I reinstalled my Spotify and the issue is still there.

Grayed out shelf and app drawer text

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:26 PM PDT

    http://imgur.com/gallery/CjkXXGE

So I just noticed the background for the shelf and the text of the apps in the app drawer are gray. I feel like I'm going crazy because I swear it they weren't always like that. But at the same time I haven't done anything to edit the appearance of either one so I'm not sure how it got like this. Has anyone has this happen to them or know how to fix it? I have everything in dark mode so grey on black in the app drawer is kinda hard to see

One thing holding me back from the OP7 Pro, need honest input here.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:21 PM PDT

Looking forward to some link shots or any advice on this matter and it'll be much appreciated.

I've seen countless YouTube videos on this but want the communities honest opinion on the OP7 Pro's camera. I have a Pixel 3, have had it since launch last year. Love this phone, but what you hear is true, it's plagued with sub par battery life and long hiccups on occasion. For example, today opening Maps and Yelp, going back to Yelp after opening Maps lagged HARD and got held up in the recent app drawer for a minute. This happens from time to time, and eventually you do notice it. Another example, had GPS going today for about 1hr 15 minutes to the destination, and back + Spotify, screen wasn't on, drained by battery 54% (left with 76%).

I'm looking to do my yearly upgrade, but I'm caught waiting on the Pixel 4, or grab a OP7 Pro for a great deal brand new. The camera is what's holding me back. I don't take ALOT of pictures, but photography in general and art inspired street photography is a hobby of mine as "you have an eye for it", per say.

So, straight up honest, no fanboying here... How's the camera now with the latest software OS?

    Charging cable stops working

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:03 PM PDT

Hello Reddit. So I have a 5t currently and had a 3 before that. Both phones are amazing just in case anyone was wondering! My problem is that after say 2 years of use it becomes incredibly difficult to charge the phones. For example my 5t has fast charge ability with the official cable and plug but after about 2 years or so of use it's almost impossible to get it to charge.

I have to lie the phone at a funny angle and press the cable certain ways to get it to start charging. That or twist the cable. I'm guessing it's a connection problem but I only ever left it plugged in until it was charged so I don't think it could be degradation because I see people here who still have OnePlus ones or twos (also awesome phones!).

I have tried using air to clean the terminals, getting new cables (not official) but the problem persists. Did I just get unlucky with the specific devices or is this a common problem. I have never seen anyone else complain about it if it is.

Any help/ advice/ wisdom is much appreciated!!

Option to connect to the strongest wifi signal available?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:31 PM PDT

Is there a built in option that my op6 would automatically switch between strongest wifi signals instead of staying connected to one signal until its out of range. Example a router and a modem at home, two different floors, stays connect to the slower one downstairs when i move up.

    Weird noises sporadically from OP7P

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:28 PM PDT

Been having a strange thing happen with my OP7P every so often. This has only happened 2, perhaps 3 times, but it's a bit concerning.

Basically my phone will just be sitting out or in my pocket and it'll start playing like a stock soundbite of an angry crowd, just a lot of people making upset noises. Then it'll make some strange notification noise that I've never heard in any other context, then it plays another sort of stock soundbite of a crowd cheering.

The first time this happened I was merely concerned because I don't like random things to be happening on my phone that I don't know about, but today when it happened my notification slider was in the silent position, so I'm worried this might happen at any inopportune moment.

I haven't installed any apps that I am suspicious of being the cause of this since my last phone, so I figured it was related to the phone itself, but to be honest I'm not super sure. Anyone have any idea what I should do to try and address this?

TL;DR: weird notification noises I've never heard before on OP7P when on silent

    My Experience With One Plus

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:53 PM PDT

Hello! I'm the happy owner of a One Plus 6T, and decided I'd treat myself to a OP7P. I ordered it on the 11th, and long story short, I never received it. It got lost in the mail. I contacted One Plus about it and provided them with all the information they needed, then they said they had to launch an investigation which took five days. Alright, kinda lame, but that's fine. After the investigation, they said it showed as Activated on their end, which means someone during shipping probably stole it (Fuck FedEx) They said to proceed they needed to have a Police Report. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous because it's not like it's my problem. They should have reshipped it no problems asked. I created a dispute through PayPal and my credit card company, Citi Bank. Eventually I caved and created the Police Report, so I made one and the following Monday I drove to the police station and paid for a copy of it. I scanned it through and send it to One Plus. Then I had to do it again because they never got it apparently (idk). Then they said someone would call me in 24-48 hours. I get a call the next day asking what resolution I would want, a reship or a refund, and I said I just want the phone reshipped. The following day, I get another call asking the same question and again asking me to verify details for the order. He then says he will call me the following day. Receiving calls from One Plus is kinda odd, because they always come up as "Restricted". It has the same vibe as when in the movie, "The Interview", Seth Rogan gets a call from North Korea and it shows as "0000". Anyways, today was the day I was supposed to receive that call and I never did. So I called them. They said they need me to sign the following form, keep in mind they can see on my tracking information for the order that the tracking stopped on the 14th and never moved after that and shows it was never delivered...

    Claim

    ...................................................... Name

    ...................................................... Address

    ...................................................... Tracking Number

I hereby certify that I have not received the shipment, although the courier tracking website shows the parcel delivered. 1) I hereby confirm that the present signature is not by me or one of my family originates. 2) I hereby confirm the parcel was deposited on my mailbox /at the front door /in the Yard/ with no delivery information. I ensure the authenticity of the statement. Oneplus can start parcel lost investigation and insurance claim accordingly.

    ...................................................... Date

    ......................................................

    Signature

Not Only does this form look like it was written by a fiverr legal team, it's completely irrelevant to my case. This is literally the form they sent me and with the same formatting and everything. Now, they knew I had a paypal dispute against them as well. When I called them and asked about the form, he said I could edit it and change what the lines say to suite my case, which is super sketch. At the end of the call, they informed me they could not proceed further until I closed the Paypal dispute against them. This is really sketchy because once you close a Paypal dispute you are unable to reopen it. I ended the call and checked my credit card through Citi Bank and saw that they ended their dispute in my favor! I got my money back! Thank God too, because One Plus would have fucked me hard on this one. I have now closed the PayPal dispute since I've been refunded. Let this be a lesson to avoid One Plus and their shitty excuse for customer service. I really like their products but being treated how I was I will NEVER purchase from them again. https://imgur.com/a/VJEOZg5 https://imgur.com/a/9979jmm

    Video settings please.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:53 AM PDT

OnePlus does a lot for photographers but not a lot for videographers. Some settings I'd like to see are:

Manual focus, manual iso, flat picture profile, being able to turn on/off eis so your video doesn't get cropped, change fps 24/30/60 and a better video editor in the gallery app.

So basically a pro video mode.

    Customer service caution

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 08:34 AM PDT

I'm thinking of getting the OnePlus 7pro from Amazon. However I'm cautious due to how bad it seems OnePlus customer service is.

However, is it as bad as people make it out to be?

Is there any way to lock a screen in place when showing someone a photo?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:44 PM PDT

I use Google photos on my 6T, and while the screen pinning option is useful in not letting someone go through different apps, they can still scroll through my photos. Is there anything I can do to ensure that they cannot do that?

Will the 6T still be available after the 7T launches?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:52 PM PDT

    Hi /r/oneplus,

I'm three years into my OP3 and it's starting to show signs of age (mostly freezing/unresponsive software). I'm looking at buying the 6T as a replacement and wondering if it will still be available to purchase new after the 7T is released in a couple of months? The 7 is outside of my budget and I'd prefer to purchase new (plus being in NZ second hand options are much fewer even if I was open to that).

    Thanks!

    Sending gifs in Gboard issue.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:21 PM PDT

I've had my OnePlus 6 since launch but when Pie came out gifs in Gboard have had such a drop in quality it's almost impossible to recognize them. I've noticed that every OTA update it also force updates Gboard with no way to downgrade it. My friend has a Pixel 3 and is running the same version of Gboard and we both sent each other the same exact gif, his was perfect quality and mine was pixelated to the point you couldn't even read the text on it.

Has anyone else ran into this issue or knows how to fix it? My phone isn't rooted and is current to the update. Thanks!
