Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:37 AM PDT So Windows prompted me to update to 1903 (think I'd been on 1803 before, not sure) a couple of days ago. So I did. Since then I've noticed a series of bugs. The first one was that Windows forgot my folder layouts. Image folders no longer showed icons but were in details view by default, and also when switching them to icon view, the icons lost their aspect ratio and became square initially. Leaving and re-entering the folder fixes the aspect ratio. I also run into another bug where image previews using Windows Photo Viewer don't start full size and have to be zoomed in. In addition, all of the image previews are extremely blurry. That's all cosmetic, but just now I ran into a potentially much more serious bug. I'm working on a video at the moment, and for that I needed to save and crop some screenshots of user comments that I was going to answer. So I created a new folder to store the images in, named it appropriately to "Q&A Video - August". I then took the screenshots, cropped them, and saved them one by one into the folder. No issues. Just now I went to go open the folder to begin my work, only I couldn't find the folder anywhere. I figured maybe I just forgot what I named it, so I loaded up paint, and tried to open one of the images I just saved. I get the following error "C:\Users\User\User\Pictures\Q&A - August\10.png contains an invalid path." That's weird. So I looked back in my pictures folder, and I found a folder titled "New Folder (2)", I went in it, and sure enough it was the pictures I'd just saved. Somehow Windows managed to change the name, allow me to save pictures there, but then lose the folder's name afterwards. Is 1903 really this buggy? Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? I'm worried about losing work or files to bugs like this and so I'm half tempted to revert to my previous version. [link] [comments]
Is there a FREE MP3 and WAV player that shows the waveform of the file? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:42 PM PDT I need this because i have a lot of old synthesizer and wierd recordings with tons of dead air in between the juicy parts. Being able to see the waveform i would be able to fast forward to the parts that have sound, and I wont have to play guess and slide with my mouse. [link] [comments]
Xbox won't let me change my country in order to re subscribe to Game pass Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:30 AM PDT I had game pass before so idk why its asking me for a profile address now. I clicked join Game Pass and signed into my account then paid for it then it wants an address but i can't change it from the USA, i live in Canada how the hell i'm i supposed to use the service if MS wants my address. I went online and added my address to my account but that didn't help. any idea https://i.imgur.com/1QTxHkA.png [link] [comments]
Trouble connecting to the internet Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:28 PM PDT When I run troubleshooter it says this.. "The device or resource (wpad.net) is not set up to accept connections on port "The World Wide Web service (HTTP)"." It happens every now and again, but I'd rather it not happen at all. I looked it up on google,an it says it something to do with a proxy or something, but I dont use a proxy. The solutions also say something with Microsoft Edge, but again I dont use Microsoft Edge. I am able to connect with USB adaptor, just not with the actual computer. Also everything else, phones tablets etc.are working fine. [link] [comments]

My Windows 7 PC doesn't recognize my Bluetooth Earphones Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:43 PM PDT I already downloaded the Bluetooth driver from my Asus motherboard and it still doesn't work. When I turn on my earphones they are recognized by my phone but not by my PC. This doesn't happen in my laptop with Windows 8. From what I've read bluetooth is completely compatible with Windows 7 so what do you think it may be? ps: I have windows 7 Special Pack [link] [comments]
A question about clean Windows 10 installation Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:47 PM PDT I'm planning to clean install Windows 10 onto an MSI GS70 Stealth Pro that I have been refurbishing. It had came with no hard drive, so I was glad to learn about linking my Microsoft account to my old laptop's product key and how to make a clean install. However, I was also planning on giving my old laptop to my sister. Do I need to purchase another product key for my old laptop so it can still fully use Windows? I should note that I upgraded my old laptop from Windows 10 S (pre-installed) to Pro through the Microsoft Store. [link] [comments]
How to get Cortana to search on Edge via mic using a hotkey?? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:34 PM PDT Hello, Is there any way that you know of that I could get Cortana working on Edge? Basically, I just want to press some sort of hotkey on my keyboard and just speak the search terms or the website and just have Cortana auto fill it into the address bar for me. It's fatiguing to have to do so much clicking, reclicking, again and again etc etc... I have Windows 10 [link] [comments]

Does Magic Jelly Bean keyfinder detect the actual Windows serial number needed for reinstall. Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:24 AM PDT I've misplaced the email when I originally purchased this Windows 10 OS and know for previous editions of windows the key finder has provided with the correct info. I just wanted to check this before starting a fresh install as the last thing I need right now is losing total access to this PC even those the issues I am having are getting rather frustrating. PS - The issues I am having is when I single left click, it is highlighting the entire website, url etc. When I click Chrome in the task bar, it will always open a new window and I cannot seem to find what is causing this to happen. It keeps trying to guide me to reset (not restart) Windows but is then unable to do so. My guess at the moment is that some of the core Windows files have been corrupted. If anyone has an idea what is going on (or wrong) I would be grateful for any advice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:45 PM PDT I was looking to find some new software for my computer which can give me more in-depth results about my computer, such as hard drive status, overall computer health in an easily visible format. As well as general software which I could try out for better functionality on the computer itself or improved security. (All software must be on Windows) [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:30 PM PDT I have no idea if this is my mouse, keyboard,pc, chrome or windows itself. While watching youtube videos it will skip the video but the duration bar will still say something low like 0:09 seconds and the pause and play button replaced by rewatch button. Then it scrolls down without me doing anything and I have to press tab to stop it. This is very infuriating and irritating. I can't highlight things either. Please help! [link] [comments]

[HELP] [Windows 10] No internet when two monitors Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:14 PM PDT I'm on Windows 10. I have a new computer. It's worked fine on the internet until I hooked up a second monitor to it. My first monitor is my TV through HDMI and my second is an old monitor through a VGA cable. When it's just the TV hooked up, internet works okay. When it's both TV and monitor, it connects to the WiFi, but I have no internet. I troubleshooted it and it said it "doesn't have a valid IP configuration". How do I fix? [link] [comments]
Sound coming out of left headphone Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:01 PM PDT I tested the headphones on my phone and another computer and they worked fine so I know the problem is with the software or the computer itself, I updated all my drivers and checked the balance to see if the right side was muted and it wasen't. Can't make folder not "read only" Posted: 31 Aug 2019 06:47 PM PDT In case anyone doesn't know and so I don't have to explain it later, apparently you can't just untick the option in the folder's properties, it will be marked as read again immediately, and so I searched the internet and found that you need to use a command, I tried the command, " attrib -r "C:/path" ", I even checked the folder again via cmd " attrib "c:\path" " and it was no longer marked with an R, but when I go to the folder in explorer, it is still read-only, so what? Do I not have control over my PC? In case you were wondering, yes, I'm the admin. [link] [comments]
Tips for Antiviruses on my new laptop Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:38 PM PDT I got a new laptop for school, and this is my first personal computer ever. Sorry if i dont know too much but that's why. It's a Lenovo Idea Pad 330S. It came installed with Windows 10, and it was in S Mode (I took it out of that though). My parents have an Antivirus software they said they can put on the computer for me, which I believe is Webroot. It also came with Windows Defender and McAfee. I wanted to make sure that these 3 antiviruses won't clash with one another, since i've heard that they can do so and end up screwing up your computer. Another question i wanted to ask was, which one of these three is the best? And do i need all three, or would just one or two be sufficient? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:37 PM PDT After the latest update, my windows search menu seems to be broken, the UI does not load nor does it find any results. Has anyone encountered the same issue or knows how to fix this? I used the search menu for starting up every program I use. Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:27 PM PDT So I connect my laptop to my tv using a hdmi cable and it's always fine. But for a few days it's not calibrated and I don't know how to fix it. I've reset my tv but nothing changed so the problem is from my laptop. This is what it looks like [link] [comments]
I’m unable to reset my Windows 8.1 computer Posted: 31 Aug 2019 06:13 PM PDT I'm trying to reset my computer because I have many useless programs and such that I just want gone. I've had the pc for 4-5 years and when I got it I was stupid and downloaded lots of dumb programs and stuff like that. When I go to reset it I get the "insert media" error. I've spent the better part of a day trying every fix on the internet but nothing will work. I downloaded what I think are the files I need but now I have almost a full hard drive (2gb left) and it won't work. Does anyone have a solution? [link] [comments]
Is there a version of the Windows 10 ISO smaller than 4.3GB? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:49 PM PDT I'm trying to make installation media with a CD, but it turns out that it's just slightly too small for the 4.59GB ISO. Is there an older version that'd fit? [link] [comments]
