Random BSOD every time I play a game Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:34 AM PDT So my pc used to get super bad fps. I got like 60 fps on fortnite when it should be getting 200 easily so I tried to fix the problem by switching my ram with my brothers to see of I got better fps. This solved the problem and I got good fps. I thought that my old ram was bad but i switched to the ram i had before and the fps was still good. I was playing normally and than all of a sudden I got random blue screens when I played a game after a while. So to fix the problem I tried to switch to my brothers ram again and it still blue screened. The ram on his computer ran perfectly. I then switched mine and his graphics card and it still blue screened. I searched up a bunch of youtube videos on how to stop blue screens and none of then worked. I dont know what to do and the blue screens are very annoying. Please let me know if you know how to solve this problem. [link] [comments] |
SD card possible corruption, how should I advance? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:40 PM PDT Heres a link to another thread I made in android questions 2 days ago with a few updates in the comments. https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/cwf0pt/sd_card_possible_corruption_what_should_i_do/ The status of the card now is worse. While in my phone none of my photos are working 99%-50% of my thumbnails are working 50% of the time (if i eject and remount) but only a 10th of the top of a picture will show when i click on them or a broken image icon. Nothing shows up on my sd card in my phones file viewer. None of my music or any files other than the couple photos and thumbnails work after removing which is just bizarre. I would just format but i really don't want to lose these photos I have quite a few that have medical information I need. This is how my 128 gb SD card shows up in my PC https://imgur.com/a/NQGmpaQ chkdsk doesn't work says the data is raw. I tried to format with windows but it wouldn't let me. I have about 200 hundred photos on the SD card a few of which have medical info and contact info i cannot lose. What should I do? I have tried about a dozen articles pretty much all the chkdsk advice. EaseUS Data recovery can't find anything on it. If i can format it will I be able to recover my photos with it? I really need some help here. Android phone and a windows 7 and 10 machine have been tried. [link] [comments] |
Locked out of laptop - How do I factory reset it? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:19 AM PDT So I am locked out of my own Acer Aspire laptop that I haven't used for some years. I do not know the password to get in. I have tried factory reseting it by starting in recovery mode, but I need password for that too. What could I do? [link] [comments] |

5700xt crashes, bad performance, sensors dying, Radeon software dying... Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:13 AM PDT So, I just bought a 5700xt Thicc II and I feel scammed... I'm trying to fix all the problems this GPU is causing from three days, but I'll start from the very beginning. After finally saying goodbye to my old friend 580, I installed the 5700xt, it's drivers and I wanted to try the hitman benchmark, because I didn't have anything better at that moment and because I just wanted to see how it looked. No luck. It barely hit 60fps and sometimes even 40. Ok, i started to think what's up but another good old friend showed up: BSOD. That story is FULL of BSOD... Video_scheduler_internal_error. Ok, let's try to find a solution (I also bought a 3700x and 16gbs of tridentz, even so my motherboard underclocked the ram... Timing, frequency and all are just messed up. Thanks x370 Asus prime pro...) But while searching for an answer, another BSOD showed up: "" cause by "". Bad drivers. DDU, uninstall all AMD drivers, restart, try a game, lag everywhere, restart, go in safe mode, try sfc, can't fix all things, *sleep*, experience some odd lag in Windows, restart, crashes on boot, my cpu starts to... Boot, then the fan stops but the LEDs are still on, and restarts. Then finally, after reinstalling drivers and everything I managed to think of, it happens: I start a 3d mark benchmark and it reaches a result normal for a 5700xt. So I'm so happy I try a game and it works just fine. Another day ended and in tired. *Sleep*. Today. Same game. Lag. Too much lag. I try furmark. 3 FPS. GPUs memory is not even used and the sensors seem just dead (no readings from furmark, task manager, Radeon software, cpu-z) and it doesn't even warm up. So, I'm just thinking... Could it be a bad card? Or just bad drivers? Or do I actually have to reinstall Windows? (I read that would be a solution bu I rather switch to a Nvidia at this point... Even if I'm not really a big fan of it) Old specs: RX 580 8gb (not oc) Ryzen 7 1700 (not oc) 4x4gb crucial ballistix ASUS x370 PRIME PRO (Windows is on a SSD m.2, dunno if that would be the problem) Thermaltake Smart SE 730W New specs: RX 5700 XT Ryzen 7 3700x 2x8gb tridentZ [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:02 AM PDT Hi fellow redditors, I am in need of your help. I have just returned from a 10 day holiday, and my pc does not boot when pressing the button. To give more details: -we left the computer without electricity: it was connected to an outlet that was switched off before we left. -When turning on the I/O switch off the PSU, the lights from the back of the computer turn on (internet light, LEDs from the Motherboard, etc.).
-I have tried to make a PSU bridge with only a fan connected and it works. If any more details are needed, I'll be glad to help. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Aug 2019 09:10 PM PDT Hey guys, I recently finished building my pc. The only problem I've had is that when I plug my ps4 controller into my pc to play fortnite, my whole pc lags. Around every 5-10 minutes, my discord and fortnite lag. This lasts for about 10 seconds and then it's back to normal. When this happens my pc doesn't recognize my ps4 controller. When this happens, Fortnite drops from 300 frames to around 20. My friends in discord say my voice also lags. One of my friends has my exact same build and he also gets this problem. This only happens on my ps4 controller, never on mouse and keyboard. Parts: -Asus Rog Strix b450-F (MoBo) -Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 oc pro -AMD Ryzen 7 2700x [link] [comments] |
Windows Setup USB drive not working... Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:11 AM PDT So, after a chain of problems I've stumbled across a new one. I watched a yt tutorial on how to setup your new pc and of course there's a problems that didn't occur in his video, and I can't find the solution online. The problem is that it detects my drive, but says there is no compatible drive. When I press on browse it comes up as an option but says there isn't a match with the files needed (but there is). Please help i've been stuck for a day now [link] [comments] |
A single YouTube video will max out my CPU Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:46 PM PDT Got this custom built computer in 2011. Went from running any game at 60 FPS and max settings to not being able to handle a single 720p60Hz YouTube video with nothing else open. There are other 720p60Hz videos that work fine, but many do not. It lags and freezes every second or two. Besides that, just doing basic shit (like opening menus and folders) on the OS is often slow as well. Task Manager screenshots: I don't know if the CPU heatsink just needs to be cleaned or if thermal paste needs to be reapplied or if I have too little RAM and it's causing thrashing. What kind of tests can I do to figure out what exactly is wrong? Also, when I cold boot, the computer fan makes a really loud and annoying sound soon as it turns on. If I wait like a minute or two and smack the computer, it stops. If I wait longer (lets say 5 mins or so), a simple tap on the computer case will stop it. I opened it to see which fan it is, and it is the fan that is attached to the vent of the computer case, not the CPU or GPU fan. Don't know if that issue is related to the slow speed... OS: Windows 10 (tried to fresh install Win7 and Win10, neither fixed the issue) Any help is appreciated. Thank you. EDIT: Thought I'd mention that since the CPU temp is not too high (see Core Temp window in screenshots), I was thinking maybe the issue is not throttling caused by overheating. Though I'm not also sure if the issue is thrashing because idk how much disk usage is expected. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:16 AM PDT When I check my devices on google it says the last time I used my phone was 5 days ago despite the fact I use it everyday and I used it like an ago to check my gmail account. Why is this happening? [link] [comments] |
Horrible connection latency in AU Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:15 AM PDT Im and Australian with an internet problem. Basically, my ipconfig cmd window shows a different ip to my Google "ip" results. These range in the 192. for my windows recognised ip, and 203. For Google recognised ip... My speed is fine, ~2mb/s, but playing any game is oddly enough, at 300ms or higher (overwatch, fortnite, csgo, etc) when I usually have less than 30ms. People said to factory reset the modem, did that and nothing happened.. I'm on an Ethernet connection and NBN plan. Please literally any help would be appreciated [link] [comments] |

PC problems (Freezing/No BIOS) Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:14 AM PDT Hi everyone, I hope I'm in the right place here. A few months ago (Right around March) I bought and put together my pc, specced: i7 9700K, RTX 2060, MSI Z390 GPC, 16GB RAM, and a 650W PSU. (Just ask for specifics) Once or twice over a few months, I'd have it freeze on me, repeating the same bit of sound. Only restarting made it go away. A few weeks ago, I received my Valve Index, I played around with it, and a few days later, I think, it froze again, repeating the sound. It started happening more frequently, in multiple games. I turned down my overclock on my CPU from a stable 5GHz at the time, to 4.9 and now to 4.8, I'm stress testing my CPU at a max of 75°C and it just freezes again. I've seen a few BSODs, MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION, and CLOCK WATCHDOG TIMEOUT, too, appearing shortly after the freezing, but it doesn't do that every time. I'm on Windows 10, latest updates (updating to the newest stuff right now), all my drivers are up to date and I've got a BeQuiet DRP4 on cooling duty. I tried sfc /scannow and Dsim /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth which found nothing. (I know, it doesn't fix anything, I deliberately removed the .exe) It only seems to freeze when doing heavy stuff, is there anything else I can do? [link] [comments] |
Periodic BSODs (Driver Power State Failure) and I'm at wits end trying to solve it, please help Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:11 AM PDT I've been having occasional BSODs for the past month or two, a "driver power state failure," and I can't for the life of me figure out what's causing it. I have a laptop, Gigabyte Aero 15X i7-8750H [16GB Ram (2x8GB), 1TB SSD (2x512GB M.2), GTX 1070] that has been fine for a year. I did a refresh maybe 4 months ago and the problem didn't start until a couple months after that. I have tried all of the following since the problem started:
... and still the problem persists. It seems to happen more frequently if the computer has been been in sleep mode, though it happens without that occurring as well. It happens maybe once a day, sometimes while I'm using it, but usually when it's just been sitting on its own. My computer is almost always plugged in, I just move it between work and home. I've uploaded them minidump file here: https://file.io/5DJZ11 If anyone could please help me solve this issue, I would be eternally grateful. I'm generally pretty handy with tech, but this has me at a complete loss. [link] [comments] |
Stuck trying to get an LTE's GPS function to work under Windows 10 (1903) Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:03 AM PDT Long story shortl, I (not so recently) installed a combo Huawei ME936 4G+GPS module in my Clevo P650HS-G, because of not particularly good reasons (spare m2 slot + antennae already installed + compatible module just sitting there in my spare parts drawer) . The modem itself works fine with Windows 10, but for some reason the GNSS Module never seems to be able to pick a signal, regardless of driver version. I've tried to do my do diligence, so I've explored alternative drivers AND I've tracked down the manual for the modem itself, so I could poke around its configuration and get the sensor up and running (in either standalone or A-GPS mode). So far I've got zilch, so as as a Hail Mary, I'm throwing myself at Reddit's collective technical mercy and/or prowess :D In case it's relevant, the chipset used by the module is an Intel XMM7160, which is somehow doing the impossible and proving itself to be a bigger headache than a MediaTek SoC XD [link] [comments] |

What is the best option for free anti-virus/malware prevention? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:54 AM PDT Hi folks, My pc keeps freezing and crashing, without giving any feedback what might have gone wrong. I tried running a program to check my cpu temp and it was running at 90° when my pc crashed. I think there might be a cooling problem, but for me there is just no way to be 100% sure of it. PC crashes after trying to install game from Microsoft Store Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:51 AM PDT Hello folks, very annoying issue here. I pre-ordered the new Blair Witch game from the Microsoft Store and have been pretty excited for its release since its announcement back at E3. The problem arose yesterday when I tried to install the game as it became available to do so. Each time I try to install it, I get a BSOD about half a minute into the download, specifically one with the message "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED". Sometimes this problem persists and each time I restart, the PC crashes a few minutes after being booted, but most of the time it only crashes the once after trying to install the game. When the problem does persist after restarts, booting into safe mode resolves the crashing until I try to install the game again. I've tried many restarts, wsreset.exe, sfc /scannow and attempting to install the game on two different hard drives. It might be interesting to note that the Windows Store service isn't listed in the services utility, which I discovered while trying a load of possible solutions. Since I updated to the new version of Windows 10 a few days ago, I wonder if that might have had something to do with it. Thanks for your time, any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
