Posted: 18 Aug 2019 12:21 PM PDT I'm using the gmail app with my gmail/google account. I tested it there by sending an email to my account while my phone was locked, and it arrived instantly on my desktop gmail website version, while I hadn't received the email notification on the phone while it was lockedeven after 10 minutes after it had arrived on my desktop Gmail, – is there anyway I can keep the gmail sync running while my phone is locked so that I'll get the emails intently even while the phone is locked? I'm after noticing there that this also happens in Another online app, the official twitter app. But I receive whatsapp messages instantly even when locked So it must be disabling internet in certain apps. How would I stop internet from being deactivated in certain apps? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Aug 2019 08:47 PM PDT Needs to be compatible with the Cricket Wireless network (which runs on the AT&T network). Am a giant noob when it comes to phones, so advanced apologies if I say something horrifically stupid. "Damn kids need to get off my lawn," my not even thirty year old self yells. 👵🏼😌 Long story short, the person who had my number before me apparently loved to sign up for all kinds of spam stuff, so every once in a while I'll get a spam message from one number or spam message sent through a group text. Individual numbers I can easily delete and then block if they continue to text me. That isn't the case for group texts. Group texts aren't always clear on who all needs blocked, even when you block the number behind the first text, and the larger the group, the more of a hassle it is to block each individual number to deal with the problem that way. Having searched through Google, I apparently can not remove myself from group texts on Android (we won't discuss how stupid I think this lack of a feature is) and must either ask the person who made the group to remove me or mute the group text and then delete it. I'm sure I don't need to explain why messaging a spammer to ask them to remove me is a bad idea. As for muting and deleting, my phone (LG X Charge) apparently can't mute. So I'm stuck. If at all possible, I would like to stick with LG, but, if push comes to shove, I am willing to buy from another brand. They've been the maker of at least this phone and the previous one I had and I like the general way LG phones operate. Especially the absolute godsend feature that is the ability to answer texts in a pop down while I'm using other apps instead of having to go dual window or something like that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the popdown text box seems to be an LG exclusive and is the number one reason I haven't changed to another android phone manufacturer. I used to have a Sony phone that I loved, but that was on a different network and they don't seem to have any that are compatible with Cricket Wireless, as of the last time I was in the market for a phone, that is. It also needs to be 200 bucks or less. I don't have much money and can't justify spending more than 200 unless I can be certain the phone will hold up for quite a few years to make up for the increase in price. To those who might say "just get a new number," after the fiasco I went through just to get the number I have now, the idea of getting yet another number does not exactly excite me. More importantly, my luck is bad enough that a new number would end up being worse than the one I have now. Advanced "bless you, bless your cows" to anyone who provides me some suggestions. Where's a Mushu emoji when you need one? Have a cow: 🐮 [link] [comments] |

Android phones that are child-proof? Ie dont have factory reset option/safe mode or can lock it down Posted: 18 Aug 2019 08:53 PM PDT I'm looking for an android phone that doesn't have a way to boot into safe mode/recovery where the user can easily reset the phone. I have a OnePlus 6 and after hours of googling have not been able to find any way to block safe mode. I understand there might be some android phones available that do this? [link] [comments] |
Are "Factory unlocked" phones 101% brand new? Posted: 18 Aug 2019 08:46 PM PDT What is the difference between locked, unlocked, and factory unlocked? Which is the least tampered version? I've never encountered these terms before because i usually buy my devices at my local store so i can check if they're authentic or not. I'm trying online shopping now as there's a new phone that's caught my eye for quite some time. It's mentioned in the description that it's "Factory unlocked" and i can't help but think that a company opened the box, "unlocked" the device and resealed it again. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Aug 2019 07:25 PM PDT I have a question. I have an iPhone -but I really want to move to Android. I've tried two Android phones (an LG phone and the Pixel XL) but I had one problem with both. The problem I had was the group messages. All of my friends and family have iPhones and when I would try group messaging with the Android phones I messages sent to then didn't work or send them separately. Is there a solution to this group message problem? I've been told to use WhatsApp when I make the switch but doesn't the other person have to have WhatsApp also? I'm not going to ask my friends many family toy download WhatsApp just for me. I appreciate if anyone can help me out. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Aug 2019 06:50 PM PDT I used to play this every day on my break at work as I don't have internet at work (stupid metal building). Lately it had become so laggy that if I try to move a card too fast the app will crash. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and it is the same after reinstallation. I'm on an LG V10. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Aug 2019 12:49 PM PDT I've disabled the "ok google" voice activation in hopes that my voice won't be recorded, would this work or do they still listen to what you say even with this option disabled? Best Way To Set Up New Android Phone? From Scratch or Not? Posted: 18 Aug 2019 02:57 PM PDT I have a Note 8 and I'm going to be purchasing a Note 10+. Before when I would get a new phone, I would enter my google account information, and the phone would reinstall all of my existing apps and information. Do you guys set up your new phones this way, or do you do everything from scratch? Is there any pros/cons to not doing it automated? Would like to hear what everyone things. [link] [comments] |

Get Dongle or USB-C earphones? Posted: 18 Aug 2019 01:20 PM PDT I currently have a Huawei P20 Pro and I'm using a some third party dongle I got on Amazon (after losing the ones I got with my phone). My current dongle causes a lot of break ups in audio and it takes me a few minutes at a very particular angle for it to start working and deliver mediocre quality audio. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile but I've always put an emphasis on music (isolating audio especially) and this dongle isn't cutting it. I was hoping once I do research I could find some cheap, fairly good quality USB-C audio accessories but the whole market is filled with mixed reviews about these products so I was wondering what you guys would recommend I should buy (adapter or USB C earphones) and also please leave certain brands you recommend if you can. P.S. Wireless and getting a new phone are non-options for me. [link] [comments] |
Why doesn't my phone (Galaxy S8) automatically connect to public WiFi? Posted: 18 Aug 2019 10:08 AM PDT When I'm at home, my phone will automatically connect to my WiFi. When I'm at work, they have a system where every site has the same SSID and password. My phone automatically connects to that no problem. When I'm commuting, I have access to a public WiFi network that requires sign in. Even though I will automatically be signed in to it if I connect or tap 'sign in to WiFi network', for some reason my phone never automatically detects and connects to it. I have to go into WiFi settings and pick it from the list. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Aug 2019 03:33 PM PDT So I use a ffmpeg on my phone and the speed is always 0.360 or something. I believe if I change something inside the app maybe the speed will be increase. Anyway someone here knows how??? [link] [comments] |
