RCS Rollout with Telus in Canada Posted: 21 Aug 2019 08:28 AM PDT Telus is set to roll out RCS for the Google Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3, and 3 XL throughout the day today! All other android devices soon to follow. Source: I work for TELUS EDIT: Got confirmation that TELUS is provisioning the feature gradually for compatable devices. You shouldn't have to do anything you should just get a prompt when you open android messages. This will only happen once your device has been "provisioned" Edit 2: For some more clarification, this will only happen in the android messages app from google. As for why it is only a pixel thing I assume they are using them as a "beta" group of sorts but I have no official word on why, that's just what I would expect as Telus almost always roll out to pixels first. Edit 3: Koodo is included in the launch (no word on public mobile) and also confirmed that Pixel users are being used as a beta group. Once they are happy with the results it will be rolled out to Samsung, LG, Huawei, and other manufacturers Edit 4 RCS between carriers: Telus confirmed to me that they left it open to function with other carriers, they did however mention that the other person must be using a compatible messaging app and network. Basically that means Bell could potentially block RCS from Telus/rogers but Telus isn't going to block other networks. Edit 5: Just to clarify this is a GRADUAL roll out (hopefully faster than the new android auto) and some people may get it right away while others may be a day or two out [link] [comments] | ||

Google Free Photo Backup (high-quality) vs Amazon Prime Photo Backup (full res.) Posted: 21 Aug 2019 11:29 AM PDT Since Google Free Photo Backup only backs up high quality, and I just found out Amazon Prime includes unlimited Photo Backup at full resolution, Has anyone try both? All my stuff are synced to Google, so it seems more convenient to keep it sync to that. I only use Amazon for shopping, but I'm curious on how is Amazon's ecosystem for Photos compare to Googles?
