RCS Rollout with Telus in Canada Posted: 21 Aug 2019 08:28 AM PDT Telus is set to roll out RCS for the Google Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3, and 3 XL throughout the day today! All other android devices soon to follow. Source: I work for TELUS EDIT: Got confirmation that TELUS is provisioning the feature gradually for compatable devices. You shouldn't have to do anything you should just get a prompt when you open android messages. This will only happen once your device has been "provisioned" Edit 2: For some more clarification, this will only happen in the android messages app from google. As for why it is only a pixel thing I assume they are using them as a "beta" group of sorts but I have no official word on why, that's just what I would expect as Telus almost always roll out to pixels first. Edit 3: Koodo is included in the launch (no word on public mobile) and also confirmed that Pixel users are being used as a beta group. Once they are happy with the results it will be rolled out to Samsung, LG, Huawei, and other manufacturers Edit 4 RCS between carriers: Telus confirmed to me that they left it open to function with other carriers, they did however mention that the other person must be using a compatible messaging app and network. Basically that means Bell could potentially block RCS from Telus/rogers but Telus isn't going to block other networks.
