| Windows 10 won't let me update to version 1803, I'm stuck on 1709 without anyway to update Posted: 31 Jul 2019 07:40 AM PDT When I go to the update page in settings it says "A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we're trying to install. We'll keep trying to install"I have talked to microsoft support on this and downloading the newest version of windows 10 from the microsoft website won't install. The other help they gave me was to boot from a usb, I have the usb all prepared and everything to boot from but my computer won't boot from the usb at all.The support agent said that my version of windows can't receive anymore updates because it's outdatedI have tried using the troubleshooter to fix any problems that could stop windows from updating but the problems it detects doesn't let windows update after or it just doesn't fix the problem Edit: It won't let me update to any other version of windows, I didn't realize 1803 was not the most recent [link] [comments]  | ||

I have win 7 installed currently. One of my friend suggested that I shouldn't install windows 10 over a win 7 system because it would mess up things up. I bought this laptop for my trip in hopes I was able to get things done, but I can't due to Windows 10 S not letting me download company software. Does anybody know a quick work around? The new game will have like 15 fps. I have to restart my PC and start the game as the first game played to have good fps. It happens with all games. I can't find any solutions online. And from what i remember they don't download attachments. I tried a program called "gmail backup" or something like that and it was able to download attachments too, but it marked all my unread emails as read, which was annoying cause some emails i leave unread for my own mental partitioning of my email. I'm an incoming college student and I expect a lot of flash drives to touch my laptop. I don't torrent a lot and expect most of my work to be online anyway. Do I still need to download a free antivirus software? I have heard that Windows Defender has really improved and just keeping it updated is usually enough. But I'm not sure. I recently opened my MacBook and realized the screen wasn't working and took it to Apple where they quoted me $800 to repair a screen pin which would literally take two mins ... anyways I didn't do it and got it fixed and sold it to a friend of mine. My question is, I'm in the market for a new windows laptop (around 1500$CAD) and I've seen some windows surface 2's, but I'm not sure what to get. I need something fast, light and able to last a few years at least. I need it for university, so just taking notes, doing school work etc and casual browsing. Any recommendations? From a computer named "SURFACE" if I "ping HANUMAN", it show "pinging hanuman.mydomain.com [192.168.0.52]". which is correct, that ip matches that computer name. however, if i use RDP and type in either "HANUMAN" or "hanuman.mydomain.com", it tries to rdp into....itself, "SURFACE". huh? but if I RDP into the IP, 192.168.0.52, it logs into "HANUMAN". so confused, any thoughts? I'm running win 10 on SURFACE, win server 2019 on HANUMAN, and DD-WRT on my router, if any of that matters. [link] [comments]  | ||

I'm currently on Windows 10 Pro version 1803. I tried to run a manual update and it failed, sending me to this web page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4514156/updating-to-windows-10-version-1903-on-devices-with-certain-versions-o I followed the instructions there, which amounted to installing a new version of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver and UI. I tried both the recommended version (15.9.6.1044) and the latest version (17.5.1.1021) of RST. In both cases, there was no change to the result of Windows Update: a failure that sends me to the link I included above. Anybody have any ideas? [link] [comments]  | ||
