| My OnePlus Repair Experience (USA) Posted: 31 Jul 2019 07:53 AM PDT Hello OnePlus community! Recently at work, I shattered the back camera on my OnePlus 7 Pro going through a turnstile. It was a freak accident where the turnstile bar hit the slit in my sandstone case where the camera hole is supposed to be. But regardless, I sent a service request on their website and got an email back the next day with the shipping label for FedEx. You gotta package it yourself. You should back up and wipe your phone. I checked out this link to see how much the cost of the repair would be. The back camera is $75 (excluding labor costs). I sent out my phone on Monday at 5 PM in New York and it arrived at the repair facility in Temple, TX that same night. The next morning I received a call from (866) 668-7927 verifying my mailing address and asked for a payment method. Turned out that the repair was actually $50~ total. I asked if the service rep knew when the repair would be completed and they said it would be done by Wednesday and it would ship on the same day. Meaning that it would arrive either on Thursday or Friday. Hopefully, my phone comes in tomorrow. I just got the notification that the repair is completed and shipped back to me. If I do not edit this post, then it means that everything went well! EDIT: I also kept "Find My Phone" and QuickSupport from TeamViewer on my phone to track where and how my phone was traveling while remoting in to get some data. Much better than just going looking at the shipping tracking lol. Also, during the repair, I think they wiped my phone so now it's a waiting game. They are supposed to be sending me a tracking number for the delivery back soon. EDIT2: My device is rooted with Magisk. [link] [comments]  | ||
| How can I fix a "broken" slider on OnePlus 6? Posted: 31 Jul 2019 01:55 AM PDT Hello r/oneplus, Recently I dropped my OnePlus 6, and the slider on the side of the phone which switches between silent/vibration/sound got stuck "in" the phone. As in, one end of the little slider thing itself is out like normal and the other end is stuck in the hole for the slider. I can still move it, but it's quite stuck and I have to pull it with my nail quite hard. Is there any way/tools I can use to "pull" the slider out again? I hope some of you can help! | Dust under OnePlus 7 Pro rear camera Posted: 31 Jul 2019 08:14 AM PDT So I have my OnePlus 7 Pro for a week and a half now. I've been handling it really carefully but I only just noticed that I have a whole lot of dust under the rear camera class. I know it is not IP certified but this just seems ridiculous. Really love the phone and would hate to switch to Samsung again. Has anyone else had similar problems? Should I send it in to repair or should I ask for a refund? How is the OnePlus service regarding those sort of problems? Btw I'm from Germany, so if anyone from here got some more information or experience with OnePlus please let me know! | Paint app in Oneplus 7 Hidden Easter egg Posted: 31 Jul 2019 10:19 AM PDT So I discovered that my OnePlus 7 has a hidden paint app which is pretty awesome. It has different colour and sizes for brush and an eraser. To use it, go to Settings >About Phone>Android Version Now repeatedly tap on the 9 written under the android version until the logo of android 9 appears. Keep taping, with each tap, the colour of the logo changes. Now the paint app should open automatically. My dumbass left the phone in the hotel room and when we came back my phone was gone. I had to spend a week without a phone and I really missed it. I am only 19 and don't make that much money. I had the nebula blue version and loved it, I now bought the almond one because I love the color. Soo long story short, I need to work all summer long, to afford this beautiful thing, again... Recovery mode is not accessible. As with the 7 Pro, I didn't like the standard 7 and decided to return it. Thought it would be a good idea to lock the bootloader before doing so. OnePlus support won't help me and they are telling me that I can't return the device anymore. "Repair is the only option now" even though I'm in the 30 days return window. I used to buy OtterBox defenders and push out the screen protector because it used to leave a gap between the film and the screen and it would be annoying. they also used to let dust under the film and it would scratch your screen. | Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:37 PM PDT Today I transitioned from OnePlus 6 to OnePlus 7 Pro using the OnePlus Switch app and the transition was smooth and all my data has indeed been shifted (with exception of ColorNote app which I transferred manually). However, when I opened the Record app it showed all my recordings jumbled up i.e. out of chronological ordering and when I connected it to my laptop I realized that the date timestamps have been touched and changed to the date when the transfer was made and therefore shows the wrong dates. Ideally, I would report this but this app doesn't exist in any play store nor is there any support link for it. But in this case, besides requesting OnePlus core devs to fix it on the app-level I would very much like to fix the issue at hand for me now. I have not deleted the data in my old phone yet and the timestamps are still intact when I checked the old phone's file system. How do I transfer this to my new phone while maintaining the timestamps? [link] [comments]  | ||

I bought my new tv a few months ago, and this is the first time I want to cast things from my phone to my tv. When I press the cast button when I'm on Netflix or YouTube, it lets me choose from my new and old tv, the old tv I don't use anymore. My problem is that, this doesn't work with any other app, and when I go to settings on my 1+, I see that under "casting" only my old tv appears. Does anyone know how to delete that old tv? | 7 Pro microphone noise during calls? Posted: 31 Jul 2019 10:22 AM PDT I've owned my 7 Pro for a couple of months now, and I'm very happy with it... My wife wanted me to get an iPhone, due largely to issues we all had with the cheap Android phones we had used in our family before she and the kids switched to iPhones, but I've found that stepping up to the 7 Pro has solved all of the issues I had in my Moto G days. The one issue I am having is something that only she seems to experience. Sometimes when she calls me she says she hears loud noises that seem to get picked up from my microphone. Usually it's at the very beginning of the call, although sometimes it happens in the middle of a call, when I haven't moved the phone or adjusted my grip in the slightest, and when I haven't even said anything or had any background noise. It's happened while driving, using my car's bluetooth, with the phone in a cupholder, not being touched or moved at all. Today she called while I was watching a movie, using a USB-c headphone adapter. I unplugged the adapter then waited a couple of seconds before answering the call. As soon as I answered she said she was hearing the same noises again. Every time this happens, she says it really hurts her ears, and she wishes I would have gotten an iPhone. That was not the most pleasant experience in the world. I spoke with one of the representatives and asked them to return my money to another credit card if possible, as I would have to pay a lot of bank fees. The person on the other end said no problem, we'll do that, it is possible. A couple of days later, guess what. I get my money back on the same credit card and because of the bank fees, I lost 40 euros. I contact OnePlus support and they tell me that what I asked for is not possible, although the previous representative told me so. I told them to check the chat logs. Of course, the chat logs were nowhere to be found. They said they had absolutely no interactions with me (I had lots of interactions with them previously, as I own a OnePlus 5T from release) and that they can't do anything about this. After a lot of back and forth and speaking with a dozen of managers, they finally "caved in" and gave me a 20 euro voucher. Yes. I returned a freaking phone, and they gave me a voucher. I asked them what the hell was I supposed to do with it. They said "you can buy accessories for your phone". I JUST RETURNED THE DAMNED PHONE. Whatever. I accepted the loss. Besides their idiotic support, I am actually a fan of their phones and was getting pretty bored of my 5T, so I tried again. I ordered the standard 7. Kept it for 2 weeks, and realised that there's really no difference between the 5T and the 7 (for me at least). Was it worth to lose the headphone jack, the fingerprint sensor and the no notch display? Nope. So I made another return request. Welp, as you can see in the linked thread, apparently it was not a good idea to relock the bootloader directly, as it bricked my phone. Now, here comes the fun part. I contact OnePlus support and get matched with Bruce Wayne. He chose his name wisely as he is blind as a bat and will ignore 90% of your messages. I told him my problem. He said that the phone needs to be sent in for out of warranty repairs. I told him again that I want to return the phone and that I am just trying to get it back in its initial state. I mention again that I am within the 30 days return period. All of a sudden, he says that he can help me fix the phone with a remote session. He asks me if my computer sees the device when I plug it in. I say yes. He says that we can't do the remote session. WHAT? More conflicting statements can be seen in the photos that I have linked below. As he was asking me for my contact details, the chat gets disconnected. I connect again, this time with Kevin. Kevin is just as stupid as Bruce, but at least he gives more information. Kevin tells me that we can proceed with the remote session, however, I won't be able to return it anymore. WHAT THE FUCK? I say ok, cancel the remote session, I'll do it myself. Yada yada, I fix the phone, I connect again to the chat and guess what. BRUCE WAYNE ladies and gentleman. I ask him if its ok to send in the phone for a return as I've fixed it. He ignores my messages again and says that a rooted phone will fail the inspection. I tell him again that the phone is on the latest version of OxygenOS, just after a fresh factory reset and that the bootloader is locked. I ask him why he proposed to do a remote session when he knew that I wouldn't be able to return the phone afterwards (I told him a couple of times that this is my intent). He tells me that it would've failed the inspection anyway and then he keeps going on about how the phone is rooted. I give up. I close the chat. Now, I'm not even sure where this root thing started, as I thought that OnePlus was cool with us rooting our phones. Now I'm kind of scared that those idiots noted this information on my return request and it will get denied for some reason. One thing's for certain. I am done with OnePlus. | help with OP5t earphone mic issue Posted: 31 Jul 2019 12:34 PM PDT Hi, I've been all over google attempting to find a resolution to this but recently had purchased a OP5T and loved it, however, recently found a massive issue that whenever I plug in an earphone or headphone jack all of a sudden the mic will not work. I've tested all headphones/earphones on other devices and they do work - the sound will however play through fine. If i call the phone mic works fine too, is there a way to fix this or to force the phone to use the built in mic perm? please any help would mean a lot. i've also tried factory resetting, updating to latest android 9.0.
