Which Android has IR blaster, micro SD, headphone port, and removable battery? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:04 PM PDT I was thinking an LG V20 would be a good choice. Any other suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jun 2019 12:41 PM PDT Because I never owned a phone that has finger touch on the screen like most all cells are coming out nowadays. I don't know how annoying on very un convienent this might mean to me if I always have these work gloves on. I need to be semi discrete and so semi quick at work to look at my phone and use it to communicate home. The Galaxy S7, for example, has a physical home button. Just not sure if these touch fingerprint home buttons would work just as easily if I had work gloves on. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jun 2019 06:54 PM PDT Hello, I have a problem and it's a weird one. My device is Xperia Z5 and it's rooted with Magisk, I'm not using any custom rom. Whenever I try to update any app that's on SD (the part where phone carries automatically) I get "Can't install [insert app name] try again and if it still doesn't work see common ways to fix the problem". Sometimes it downloads the update for like 5 times, and it goes over the file size. For example, when I want to update office, it looks something like "64.42 MB/53.87 MB" this and this happens between 2-5 times and then it finally gives the error. I have no problem with installing new apps or updating apps that are either completely on my phone or apps I carried with Link2SD except "that automatically transferred by phone" part. I can also transfer data from SD to phone and update, then transfer back. I know the transfer data are probably not more than 100mb but I don't want to deal with that for 10 apps. I know I'm not giving a perfect description but that's all I can remember. I don't even know what might be causing it. Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |

Blocked on samsung screen after rooting (A3 2016 7.0) Posted: 30 Jun 2019 05:13 PM PDT I rooted my A3 this morning and a few hours later I had a text saying "IU syst stopped". I could not do anything, and I rebooted it. Since then, I can't get past samsung screen. Any help is appreciated, as I may have to factory reset... [link] [comments] |
Help with home screen rotation Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:25 PM PDT Hi! Within the last two weeks, my home screen started to rotate when the phone rotated. This is just plain annoying. I've read this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/9to5google.com/2018/03/01/how-to-enable-landscape-home-screen-samsung-galaxy-s9-plus-android-basics/amp/ However after checking and unchecking the thing it says, it still rotates when checked or unchecked but it's all wonky as in the following: http://imgur.com/a/w7Q3LsM Anyone know how to just keep it in the regular portrait rotation? Thanks! Using a Samsung Galaxy S8 S8 active [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jun 2019 02:36 PM PDT Hi. Recently my phone stopped turning on. What happened was one morning, my phone got really hot for a bit. After it cooled down, I couldnt get it to turn back on. My power button doesnt work so I rely on my fingerprint to activate the screen on my phone. The fingerprint stopped working so I plugged in the charger to see if that can activate the screen to turn it on. When i plug in the charger, nothing happens except for the notification light blinks red. Is my phone non salvageable or is there a way I can turn it on to access it? There is a lot of stuff on the phone I would like to recover. Thanks for the help. Btw my phone is a Honor 6x [link] [comments] |
Is there anyway to retrieve info from a broken phone? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 05:55 PM PDT Long story short; MIL broke her phone. It still comes on but the screen is completely black. She didnt back up anything. I tried Dr Fone but her model number isnt in there to get the data. She did have a screen lock so when I plug it into a computer it shows the phone but there are no folders or anything. Is there anything I can do to get her stuff off the phone? I already set up her new phone with google backup and a Samsung account for backup to avoid this in the future. [link] [comments] |
Samsung S9 text messages are silent despite allowing notifications. Posted: 30 Jun 2019 09:18 PM PDT Hello; I needed a bit of help figuring out why my text messages for all contacts are on silent. There is a little bell with a cross-mark through it next to each message. It looks like every single one of my contacts are silent. My phone does not vibrate or light up when I get my messages. All volumes are up and I get email and other notifications. Does anyone know how to fix this? [link] [comments] |
Wifi is unavailable with [Name of Wifi] [LG Q6] Android 7.1.1 Posted: 30 Jun 2019 01:05 PM PDT So this problem started occurring last night when I accidentally unplugged the router cable. The wifi shows that it's connected, apps such as Twitter, Instagram or spotify don't work at all even though the wifi is connected. Now, the strangest part is Chrome works with only CERTAIN websites, for example, Google works, and some other websites. All other devices work perfectly fine. The solutions on the Internet that I have already attempted: -Restarting the router -Restarting my phone -Enabling/Disabling Wifi Normally and using *#*#4363#*#* -Factory Resetting Phone Another note to add in, I've gone ahead to a nearby coffee shop which offers free wifi, and I am faced with no issues. Looking for a mobile internet tracking app Posted: 30 Jun 2019 01:03 PM PDT During my commuting i have an spotty coverage of mobile internet and i am switching between the available providers. I would like to automatically log the available mobile internet in my commuting route and search for a good app. It should not focus on the cell strength but the actual downloadrate which is available (as sometimes a full strength cellphone signal only delivers about 4 kb/s) Do you have any recommendations? I switched to android today and so far WhatsApp is the only thing I don't like Posted: 30 Jun 2019 08:07 PM PDT On the iOS WhatsApp you can swipe from right to left on your sent messages and it shows you who it's delivered to and who's read it, on android though you have to highlight the message and click the information button at the top of the screen, I hate it, tbh I prefer the look of iOS WhatsApp too. Anyone know if there's a way to get the swipe thing on android, or just the whole iOS WhatsApp on android? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Custom ROMs and multi-camera devices Posted: 30 Jun 2019 01:48 PM PDT I haven't put a custom ROM on a device since my Nexus 6P, but lately I've begun to miss the clean stock Android experience that my bloated Galaxy S8 can't provide: it's also trashed so I'm in the market for something new. I wanted to know how well multi-camera devices fare with custom ROMs and the stock camera app/ported Pixel Google Camera app and whether I'd just be best picking up a very affordable Xiaomi device from China and flashing a custom ROM onto it instead of picking up one of the bigger name flagships? Any guidance would be welcome. [link] [comments] |
"Can't reach device" on Find my device Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:15 AM PDT Hey y'all, hopefully you guys can help me out with my problem. Last night, I lost my phone, but I am 100% certain it is in my house. I've discovered the Find my device option on my laptop, and I plan to use it later on to find my phone, but I have a few questions about the feature.

Getting around FRP via HushSMS - does it actually work? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:19 PM PDT So, as part of work, we have a pile of discarded, locked, abandoned phones sitting around. Most of them are blacklisted "lost" devices that were insurance-claimed and later found or turned in. I'm trying to get an AT&T note 8 running to use it as a kid's tablet, but am getting sick of the runaround on the Google account activation lock bypass methods. Apparently HushSMS is capable of sending a push notification that pops up over the setup screen that can let you get on chrome and add a new, known Google acount. But in order to for this to work, the sending phone needs to be running Xposed framework. I don't have that. But if this is true, wouldn't anyone with a rooted phone be able to send these text messages upon request? Why isn't there a service that does this? It seems like an obvious solution. I kinda want to avoid rooting a phone if possible when any existing rooted phone would do. Is there an easier method than this I'm not seeing? [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge won't rotate or count steps Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:18 PM PDT Hey all, my Galaxy S7 Edge won't rotate or count steps, I've tried turning the button on and off and it doesn't work. I've tried restarting my phone and it does work for a couple hours. Then it goes right back to not working, because of this I tried booting it up in safe mode and couldn't figure out what the problem was because it always works whenever I restart the phone. My OS is 8.0 and I have AT&T [link] [comments] |

Is there any reliable, easy to use, affordable way to back up my photos - Google Drive Fails Posted: 30 Jun 2019 06:32 AM PDT I've been a Google user since it was still beta. I've weathered through the changes, the apps coming and going, the deeper reach into my privacy under the guise of convenience. But it's now gotten to the point where I need something reliable to store my stuff, especially my photos. All these years, I've been thinking I was secure with the whole Google photos/Google Drive relationship. They claimed if I turned on some setting, everything I photographed or filmed would go safely into the cloud. When I switch phones, I followed the backup procedure which said everything would be safely backed up into the cloud. I have my Google Drive very organized with photo folders, each with their own topic (example a folder called "kids" and within that, each child and within each child, birthdays by year). Recently my son got married and I took the photos on my Pixel 3. A few days later, I had the whole 'strobing green light' issue and had to return the phone. I followed the backup procedure given by Google that claimed to move everything from the bad Pixel to the new Pixel - like a mirror. Well you can imagine how well that worked :/ Tons of apps missing, stuff not synced, etc. I basically had to set it up like a brand new phone and re-download all of my apps, settings, etc. I backed all of the photos on my phone onto my Google drive folders. But to my horror (and makes no sense) when I signed into my Google account and checked the drive just to make sure everything had transferred and nothing was there. None of the wedding photos, none of the photos from vacation last week, last year, 5 years ago - nothing. All that exists are screenshots I've taken of dumb stuff, memes, old documents I've created in Docs or Sheets. None of my photos, music, videos, voicemail, contacts, nothing. I can see a backup file from an old Samsung galaxy but it also has none of the photos from that phone either - just ring tones I've downloaded and backgrounds I downloaded - NONE of the photos from that phone either. I'm so upset because this is about 10 years worth of vacation, birthdays, holidays, events, etc - you can imagine. And each time when we were on vacation, I'd go back to the hotel that night and watch everything backing up into the cloud (supposedly). I periodically checked (though admittedly not every single file) and they'd show there were items in them. This doesn't even include the weirdness of Google photos even right now. We were on vacation last week and it was impossible for us to find photos taken that day. For example, we took a selfie in front of a waterfall. Then immediately handed my phone to a woman who offered to take our photo, she took 3-4. I glanced at the photos when she handed the phone back, they were there. Then upon returning to the hotel, where we like to compare photos, those photos were nowhere to be found! I searched and searched. Everything before was there, everything after, but they were gone. Except occasionally, I'd see them in the thumbnails but when I'd try to open them, the whole album would resort and they'd be gone again. So the tl;dr of this is that I don't trust Google, Google photos or Google drive with my stuff anymore.

How to create a widget or shortcut to a very specific andriod setting toggle Posted: 30 Jun 2019 02:43 AM PDT Hi all, first post so sorry if this is a dumb question. What I am trying to do is create an icon/widget/any easy way to toggle a particular setting on my Mate 20 Pro running EMUI 9 on Andriod P. The setting in question is - Settings > Developer Options>Simulate colour space> Monochromancy / off Pretty much I want an easy way to toggle going 'grayscale' to color on my Huawei Mate 20 Pro. On my iPhone it can easily be setup as an accessibility setting and on my old Galaxy S7 Edge that was the same. I can't seem to make it a accessibilitiy setting on my Mate 20 pro. Bonus points if someone knows how to use this as an accessibility option. [link] [comments] |
How to switch users with different passwords without selecting the user? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:49 AM PDT Is there anything that can enable me to enter a different password and get into the user that password is for. Eg: i have 2 user accounts on my phone and the password for first is 1234 while password for second is 2345. Is there any way that when i enter 1234 i get into user 1's account and when i enter 2345 i get into user 2's account directly from the lock screen without having to select the user. I remember my lenovo k3 note had this feature like 3-4 years ago but i am not able to find this option in my new android one phone [link] [comments] |
Can I delete my WhatsApp media from the phone gallery and still have them in the app? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 04:10 PM PDT I just recently moved from iPhone to Android (Honor Play, if that helps). Since I needed to have all my WhatsApp data in the new phone I extracted WhatsApp files from my iPhone backup and inserted them into the new phone and did all the following steps. Problem is, on my old phone I turned the automatic download of medias into the gallery off. But now I have 20k pics and vids in my Honor's gallery, and they take a lot of space. If I plug the phone into my PC and delete the backup from the phone, will I keep my things or am I going to lose everything? Sounds silly but rn WhatsApp is only 500mb while instead it was like 5GB in my old iPhone [link] [comments] |

Keeping an Anroid phone up-to-date after 3 years Posted: 30 Jun 2019 02:53 AM PDT Is it possible without a lot of hassle? I'd like to use my phone for at least 4-5 years before upgrading (unless it breaks). My first phone was an HTC Desire, and boy it was a lot of fun tinkering with it and flashing all kinds of ROM just to see what they do. All successive devices have been Android phones (I even bought a Nexus 7). As I get older and busier, I stopped caring about customization and want something that just works. About 4 years ago, my Moto X broke. A relative gave me his iPhone 6 as a temporary phone, and ended up letting me keep the iPhone. It worked very well: Apple keeps iOS up-to-date, and there's no reason to replace it until now. It won't be updated after this year, and its battery doesn't last a whole day despite a replacement service performed late last year. Now I'm considering something like the OnePlus 7 Pro or the Asus Zenfone 6 because of the relatively large battery. But I have a few concerns:
Fixing Google Pay and locking Play Service at a known-good version is a hassle that I'd rather not deal with. That's on top unlocking the bootloader, installing a custom ROM, rooting, installing magisk, relocking the bootloader, and other tweaks. All the while risk bricking the device. For those who still have a 2015-era Android phone as their daily driver, and have kept it in good working order (ie, up-to-date with everything working): - How much work (in hours per week) is involved over the years? - Does the amount of work involved taper off? - How often have things (for example, Google Pay) unexpectedly break? - Were you able to fix them?
