What I like about 1. is that I used a Lenovo before and loved it. What I like about 2. is that is has 6 cores and Thunderbolt 3 with 40 Gbit/s the Lenovo only has 20 Gbit/s. I don't know how the MX250 compares to the GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q. [link] [comments] |
$2000-$3000 USA. Subtle gaming laptop with good external connections Posted: 02 May 2019 11:33 AM PDT
Also would like to have a decent audio chipset on it, because I stream Spotify a lot whilst working. Please no rainbow colors or laptops that scream 'IM AN UBER GAMER' (like alienware). I'd like it to be somewhat business appropriate, if possible Don't care much about battery life, or SD card. Sounds like a long list, but does something like this exist? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a laptop for some gaming that doesn't look like a "gaming laptop" Posted: 02 May 2019 11:09 PM PDT I'm needing a new laptop to use at college, so it will be for work, along with some gaming. I want something with at least a 1050ti or possibly a 1060, but I hate those obnoxious "gaming" laptop designs that they all seem to have. Basically want something that is sleek and looks like a standard work laptop. (Not razor though) Price range is $800 - 1200 USD Thank you!!!! [link] [comments] |
UK £300-£500 Writing and travelling laptop Posted: 03 May 2019 02:53 AM PDT Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Good battery life is most important as I will be writing on the go a lot. But obviously specifications are also important How important is weight and thinness to you? As light as possible as I want to travel lightly - this is my biggest requirement other than long battery life. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13" preferably maybe 15" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mostly some light video editing for a blog (Adobe Lightroom), but bonus if I can also do some light gaming If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Maybe League of Legends/Warcraft 3/Starcraft Broodward and I don't mind playing at very low settings Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A good touchpad and a keyboard good for a lot of writing Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Basically this laptop is mostly going to be used for writing during my travels. That will be novel and blog writing with some light vlog/video editing. Bonus would be that I can use it for some light gaming, but not necessary. Also It needs to have enough space to store movies and music. [link] [comments] |
Laptop for travelling and writing Posted: 03 May 2019 02:36 AM PDT Hi all, Am looking for a cheap (Budget of £300- £500 - but preferably on the cheaper side) that I can take travelling. This laptop will primarily be used for writing a novel, blogs and some light video editing for my blog. I live in the UK so UK prices preferred. My main and MUST requirements are: As light and small as possible - ideally 13" Long battery life - as I will write a lot on the go Needs to have enough memory for movies and music Bonus requirement but not that needed is that I could do some very light gaming on it. I know some people will suggest tablet/laptop hybrids, but would prefer not to have one of those and just a laptop. Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |

Note that not all laptops are available in India. I am willing to wait a few months before buying. Thanks for taking your time. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 May 2019 05:49 PM PDT TLDR: Need laptop for school, already have SSD, and RAM **Total budget and country of purchase:** Up to $500, if possible, USD **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** I prefer good battery life. **How important is weight and thinness to you?** The lighter it is, the better. **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** N/A **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** I won't be video editing or gaming, but I want to do basic photo editing. **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** If I were to game on this, the most demanding thing would be DS emulation **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I want the frame to be solid. I don't need touch scree, finger print reader, or optical drive, but would like to have a good keyboard. **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** Because I broke the screen of my previous laptop, I still have the internal parts of it such as the RAM(4GB) as well as a SSD, which I want to use to upgrade the new laptop. I will be using it for multiple purposes, such as surfing the web and for using in school, for example coding in java. If there are anything else I could put here, ask in the comments. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I mostly work on Linux but I'm not against windows. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Something that is nice to look at for hours. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. NetBeans and Gimp. Some light video editing. Computer science programs. Been able to run some Virtual Machines. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A
I currently have a laptop that handles gaming and my current college work but the battery lasts 15 minutes if it is not plugged and it's kind of big so it really isn't suited for college. My budget is around $500 but I'm willing to invest more if it is worth it. PD: I'm a computer science major. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 May 2019 10:08 PM PDT I was thinking to buy i7-8750H with GTX 1060, but now AMD 7 3750H with GTX 1660 Ti laptops come out, with new GPU. But the CPU AMD 7 3750H is not great as the i7-8750H, so I don't know what I should buy I'm planning to play AA games and run multi tasks. Here's the GTX 1660 Ti laptop Asus Zephyrus G And for the GTX 1060 laptops I'm thinking of the Hp Omen 15 and lenovo y7000 Any help, suggestions ? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a gaming laptop around 700-1000 for gaming, no good looks required! Posted: 02 May 2019 05:55 PM PDT I've been out of the PC gaming world since 2013 with a mid-range desktop my wife and I built 2 years ago. It's finally dead and hasn't run anything good in years anyway. A laptop would be much better for me since I will take it around the house and to other places to play and work.
USA, 700-1000
2 in 1 not necessary at all, need best specs for the money. It will rarely be used without nearby power.
Not very important. Function over form :)
Windows, will either dual boot Linux or run from a flash drive/VM.
At least 15, bigger is fine.
Gaming, Visual Studio, Hyper-V
I'm primarily eyeing Beat Saber/VR and I'd like it to run without any drops...other than that PS2/Wii/GCN emulation and newer PC Final Fantasy games (XII-XV) at 60FPS.
I'm not picky about the looks at all, I just need it to play what I want. Aside from gaming, I'll be using it for studying and coding. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a workstation for music creation on the go. Posted: 02 May 2019 09:22 PM PDT
Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Specs are more important than battery life. 2-in-1s seem cool, but performance is more important. A touch screen and pen support would be rad.* How important is weight and thinness to you? I'd be traveling with this laptop four to six months of the year, good portability and build quality is a must.* Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I've been a long time MacBook user, but I'm leaning windows this time around. * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15 inch is what I prefer. * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'd be doing a lot of light to moderate video editing. As well as music creation and mixing. A good CPU for running tons of native plugin processing would be most ideal. Adobe Premiere and Ableton Live are my tools of choice.* If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Trying to quit videogames, and I have a desktop to play them on when I'm home. N/A for me.* Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A great keyboard and touch/pen support would be awesome. This laptop must have thunderbolt 3 for my UAD Arrow audio interface.* Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. If we could make it sexy and discreet looking I would prefer it. This would be my primary work laptop. Thanks so much you guys. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2019 09:15 PM PDT So primarily I want to use it for music. Programming, making beats, recording etc. But I wanna use it secondarily for gaming(mainly age of empires). I'm totally lost on what I should be looking for because I'm not very tech savvy. I found a few but a couple of my friends have been counseling me on what I should be getting. I also wanted to use it to do basic video editing though that's not too much of a concern. Screen size is a bonus for me as well. What should I look into? [link] [comments] |
