I've replaced almost everything in my PC and am still getting this same problem. Posted: 01 Mar 2019 06:57 PM PST Edit: Thanks for all the replies guys, I really appreciate it. If I haven't answered your question, chances are I've answered it somewhere else or I've tried what you suggested. I'm planning on calling Gigabyte support tomorrow and if that doesn't get me anywhere I might just have to take it in for repair at Micro Center or something. (Not really something I can afford but running out of options.) I'll be sure to keep you guys updated if it works out and try to answer some more questions. So I had a classic water accident and after drying out for a day my PC would turn on, all fans would spin, but it wouldn't post. After powering on, it restarts immediately, then stays on for about 15 seconds before restarting again, while never giving my any BIOS or post. The only way to stop the loop is to switch the power off on the PSU itself. After extensive troubleshooting I decided to go ahead and upgrade my motherboard and processor as they were a likely culprit. After they arrived, no dice, same issue. I made extra sure I was following all installation steps correctly. I borrowed some new RAM to see if that was the issue and still the same problem. I had tested the voltages of my 500W power supply and they all looked fine, but I swapped in a new 600W just in case. After no luck, I took my rig in to Geek Squad and they said the only thing the could think of was a problem with the case itself. I ordered a new case, installed all the components to the best of my ability and, you guessed it, same exact problem. Before you ask, I've tried reseating components multiple times, and I've tried resetting CMOS. I'm at my wit's end at this point as I'm now falling behind on a lot of school projects as I am a full time online college student, so any ideas for solutions would be great. Being threatened with E-mail [HELP!!!] Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:42 AM PST I was just clearing out my junk E-mail and the very last E-mail is a threat. https://imgur.com/KHzEjh3 https://imgur.com/p8f5OAl It is an e-mail sent from my account, which isn't too weird in itself as I get spam like that all the time. However, this one is a threat and contains a password I have used for years, and still use on some accounts. However, the e-mail address the spam used to send me does not use this password. The e-mail was sent on the 17th of February so the 48 hours thing is bullshit. I also don't have 18 contacts. The porn part strikes me as bullshit as well, any porn I see is on Reddit. So a lot of this seems like bullshit but the did say to me what my password is/was. Another thing to note is that I got an E-mail from Amor Games saying they had experienced a breach on Jan 1st. However, my password on that isn't the one they sent me. Don't really know what to do. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:32 AM PST I had to format my ssd that had my os and everything on it, so I got my media creation tool and booted from the usb and got into Windows. But it won't download any network adapter drivers, display drivers, etc. So since it won't let me connect to the internet I can't get the drivers manually. Why won't it install them when I run the tool? [link] [comments] |

Monitor died, now TV crackling. Faulty GPU? Faulty home wiring? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:42 AM PST A few months ago, while I was using my PC, my HP 2311gt monitor powered off while playing Minecraft, never to power on again. I have not been able to afford a replacement monitor since then and switched over to a spare Sanyo DP26649 TV I had in storage. Both were connected to my PC via HDMI. Everything was running smoothly until the monitor died, after which I've been fighting with constant computer issues. The first was constant bluescreens - could not keep my PC running for longer than 5 minutes at a time. I later deduced this issue to be faulty RAM. I know this is a cardinal PC sin, but I added a paired set of RAM modules, SKHynix HMT125U6TFR8C 2x2GB that I had salvaged from a different out of commission PC, to my PC which already had a different paired set of modules, G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 2x4GB. The PC was still totally stable with the mismatched RAM for a full year until the day of the monitor death, so I never bothered to remove them. Removing them after the bluescreens started to occur did resolve the bluescreen issues, however. Another issue immediately took the bluescreens' place afterwards. Anytime I began any process that utilized hardware acceleration - watching animated GIFs on discord, starting a video on Youtube (on Chrome), booting Minecraft, etc. - the program would freeze for about 4-5 seconds, its window would vanish, then reappear and begin functioning as normal. This never occurred before the monitor death. Finally, starting yesterday, I've come across one more issue that has terrified me to the point where I'm afraid to even boot my PC anymore; every once in a while, at random, the screen on the Sanyo TV would tear up with streaky green/magenta vertical lines covering only the bottom half of the screen for 1 frame, would produce an audible crackle sound (coming from the TV itself), and would lose HDMI input. The TV would not power off during this time but would go black (only backlight and power LED would remain on) and need to search for HDMI input again for 1-5 seconds. I am convinced that at the exact time of the monitor death, my GPU shorted or otherwise faulted somehow and caused damage to many areas of my PC, including the RAM as mentioned above, and was also the cause of death for my monitor as well as the cause of all subsequent issues since. My friend, however, is trying to convince me that damage cannot be caused to a display over an HDMI connection alone, and that the cause of display issues is that my home power outlets have faulty wiring and are causing surges, damaging my monitors. He suggested using a surge protector, but I do not own one and would like to avoid purchasing one if it is not the cause of the issues. Further notes:
If any more info is required, let me know and I'll edit this post with the necessary info. Edit 1: Windows 10, build 1809, 64bit. [link] [comments] |
Dual Channel RAM On laptop? (ASUS ROG Strix SCAR II GL704GM-EV001T) Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:40 AM PST Hey guys, Been using a laptop for about a month now, i just noticed i have single channel ram. So i'm thinking of adding another pair of ram to make it dual channel and maybe update the ssd as they're quite cheap nowadays. If i update my laptop to duel channel, would i see any performance gain in games? Screen goes "white" (3 seconds duration) every 5 seconds. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:24 AM PST Screen goes "white" for 3 seconds then it comes back to normal. After 5 seconds it does that again, and again,... This problem happens only after the windows logo shows up ( lockscreen, desktop and everywhere else). It doesn't happen in bios or in safemode. I suspect it is a integrated gpu issue. I have a Gigabyte A320M-H motherboard and AMd Ryzen 5 2400G. The PC is connected through a dvi-d to vga adapter to my monitor. I tried to uninstall the igpu driver in safe mode, restarted the PC(this time there was no problem with the screen), reinstalled the driver from amd's site, and the problem came back. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:24 AM PST I need Braille keyboard keys that are intended to replace the current keys on my laptop, which is a HP TouchSmart 15. Even though I can still see, my vision is very slowly getting more nearsighted, so I'd like to prepare years in advance for the eventual blindness, barring affordability for any future LASIK surgery. How to connect headphones to TV without a headphone jack, or audio output? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:04 AM PST Hi all.. About to lose my mind here, but y'know, it's whatever. I have a Sansui TV, and, like the title says, it doesn't have a headphone jack or any audio outputs. Here is the rear panel of my TV: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/459898/Sansui-Hdlcd1909a.html?page=8#manual Is there anything I can do with the digital audio coaxial out port, or am I screwed? :( I'm hoping to connect my Xbox 360 to my TV, so if there's -any- way I can do that.. Fuck, I'd be so grateful beyond words [link] [comments] |

Looking for Hardware advice for a PC that was given away Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:06 AM PST Hi, I've got a PC that was given away and it's a bit slow. it loads Windows in about 2-3 minutes, takes a while to open a browser and generally is not working smoothly, but. Once I open, for example, Steam and play Civilization VI, it works just fine and can handle the game with high graphics. I was wondering, if anyone could give me advice on what parts should I upgrade to give the PC a little push? I'm not looking for a super duper gaming PC. A fast loading, smoothly running PC would be nice. I attached a screenshot from the System Info for someone, that might identify issues with this PC. Windows 10 taking hours to boot Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:06 AM PST As title says, my Windows is acting strange recently. The first time it happened I was gaming and I alt tabbed out of the game to check my messages on Chrome, then Chrome stop working, gives a error log and the screen turns black. Now I can't see anything, apparently can't do anything, because I could hear what was happening, like the game was still running. When I restarted the PC, it took literally hours, like, 3 hours at least. Last night it happened again. Same story: was gaming, alt tabbed to Chrome and black screen, but could hear what was happening. But now Windows won't boot. I left my PC booting up during the night (started 11:30 PM) and it hadn't booted till a few minutes ago (7:40 AM). I restarted again, but started the booting process all over again. Anyone knows what's going on? I've looked up online, but I couldn't find anything that could help me. I didn't want to restore my PC again, but I'll have to do it of you guys think it's best. Thank you, in advance. [link] [comments] |

Some websites loading, others just refusing to load Posted: 02 Mar 2019 12:07 AM PST So for the past few days I've been having this problem where some websites like google and reddit and some others load, but stuff like Netflix and discord just refuse. This has been happening to every device connecting to my home wifi or ethernet. I've tried the stuff like ipconfig /flushdns in cmd prompt but no luck. Any advice on what I could do? sfc /scannow stuck at verification phase of scan Posted: 01 Mar 2019 11:59 PM PST Using a Windows 10 Dell laptop. Earlier in the day, I received the error message "your PC ran into an error and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you." Right before this message appeared my laptop bumped into my knee (not that hard though, and not the first time it's lightly bumped something). I had never received this message before. I waited for my laptop to restart, and when it turned back on, it looked completely normal. I ran a ton of different scans, and everything came back clean/normal - Windows up to date, Dell dell driver updates available, hardware scan normal, no malware. For some reason I decided to run sfc /scannow as well, just to be sure. After "Beginning verification phase of scan" appeared, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. At 80% though, the prompt just stopped and a blinking little white cursor appeared. It's been stuck on "verification 80% complete" for over half an hour. I can use my computer normally otherwise. I'm wondering if I can just exit the cmd prompt or if this will create a problem for me. [link] [comments] |

Help! Surface Book 2 15" Battery Discharge issue! Posted: 01 Mar 2019 11:33 PM PST Hi there, (This is long but please read. I am posting this on multiple windows/microsoft related subreddits) When I am gaming, from playing minecraft to rocket league, to forza horizon, and I have my laptop plugged in, it ALWAYS discharges!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. NO other laptop I've owned has EVER had this issue. I do not run these games in 4K. My screen resoultion is 60%. I do not put the slider up to high performance. This is beyond irritating and it disconnects my graphics card at times when the base gets to 4%. unbelievable. I will get numbers like: Battery 1: 93% Battery 2: 9%. I am using the 102W charger that I should be using. Can someone suggest a software fix? What's really astonishing is that when I leave it plugged in while gaming, it drains at the SAME RATE as if I leave it on battery power! The battery charges efficiently OUTSIDE of gaming tasks. Posted: 01 Mar 2019 11:24 PM PST Title, my internet at my apartment is complete GARBAGE. I use a company called "Hargray" down here in Georgia, but it's just awful, sorry for any Hargray employees that might read this. Anyways- The internet cuts out pretty much every other day randomly, or if it's not cutting out, it's dropping/lagging, getting spikes of 1k ping in games and such. I don't know what to do to fix any of this. Just recently our Wifi network 2.4G stopped working out of the blue, rendering us only able to use the 5G, which honestly we only ever use that in the first place, because it's the only one that's getting near 120mbps unlike our purchased plan of 1000mbps huge scam or incorrectly set up by the company? I have no idea. We're using the companies modem, and a Netgear Nighthawk Quad Stream X4S [link] [comments] |
Can't get a controller working for games Posted: 01 Mar 2019 10:54 PM PST recently i went out and got a controller to play stuff like rocket league or gta on my computer. The controller I got is an @Play ps4 controller. I originally tried using the DS4 program like you would with a normal ps4 controller but that didn't work (I tried mutiple way to force it to work with this, none worked). The controller does also not work normally. However I know it should work is my computer detects it as a game controller and it works on steam big picture mode perfectly fine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 04:16 AM PST I've been getting at least 3 BSOD a day since a week ago and I don't know what the cause could be. I have linked a minidump file, if anyone could take a look at it I would greatly appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 04:10 AM PST When I go to turn on my computer, it starts powering up for like 1 second and then immediately dies. Then about 2 seconds later it'll being powering up again on its own but die after about 1 second again. This process continues indefinitely. I asked some people at work what I should do and they said something about removing RAM to reset the BIOS. I did this easily, as I built the computer myself so knew how to do it. After I powered it back on, it booted all the way up to the log on screen, but my usb drives wern't working, so my keyboard/mouse couldn't provide input. I held the power button down to turn it off and on again as I had no other way of shutting it down. As soon as I turned it back on, the original problem came back. I tried removing the RAM again, but this time it had no effect. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should try next?
