[No 2in1.. I'd rather spend the extra $ on build quality and specs./ Battery life doesn't matter because I'm used to my non existent battery in my 6 yr old Gateway] How important is weight and thinness to you? [as Thicc as it has to be. I do NOT want to skimp on thermals, and if its heavy I'll just get a workout I guess lol, I'm willing to suffice with heavy if I get more for the money that I'm gonna drop in it]
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm a truck driver, so I am somewhere new everyday day and lugging around my xbox and TV hot old fast. My laptop is literal trash so I need something worth every penny I spend. This is my first time spending this much on something so I dont want to have buyers remorse. I need it to last a long while before I have to upgrade, and if I need to save a little more then feel free to let me know and lead me in the right direction. I want the absolute best bang for my buck. This is a once in a blue moon/birthday purchase for me. Plz help, I'm in over my head is tech specs! Thank you in advance if you read this far. :) And P.S. please, PLEASE do nOt reccomend the Acer Predator Helios (I'm out of breath) 300... I DO NOT want to deal with an overheating potentially failing computer.. like I said, I'm a trucker so i cant wait around while my rig is in the shop getting surgery. I do that enough as it is and I have to have something reliable while I wait days on end in a shop in some random state until it gets fixed. It sucks, trust me, and I dont really have the time or space to take it apart and re thermal paste it and liquid metal it myself . I dont want a budget gaming laptop if I can avoid it at all. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2019 04:03 AM PDT Hi there, im looking to buy a relatively fast laptop that is able to run movies and tv shows in high quality. My budget is about 1,400 $ max. I generally want to use it for watching streams, youtube and netflix (or movies in general). If it doubles as a gaming computer that wouldnt be a problem either. Thx in advance [link] [comments] |

I need a 2-in-1 laptop for school Posted: 30 Mar 2019 02:01 AM PDT In August i will start attending a new school. They require every student to have a 2-in-1 notebook, as most of the worksheets and exercises will be done electronically.

Probably 15", USA, $1500: Best screen for viewing movies Posted: 29 Mar 2019 09:37 PM PDT I'm looking for the absolute best in picture quality screen for viewing movies by myself in bed. I can't find in depth rankings on screens, like you see with TVs. Budget is around $1500. Right now, I'm looking at a 2017 15" Macbook Pro and the brand new Thinkpad X1 Carbon with the 14" HDR WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS glossy with Dolby Vision, 500 nits screen. Are the Apple retina screens better overall? I'll be using headphones, so speakers don't matter. I'll also be using a plug in Blu-Ray drive. [link] [comments] |

RTX 2060 Gaming Laptop w/ built-in SD Card Reader? Posted: 29 Mar 2019 07:52 PM PDT I want a gaming laptop that is also content creator friendly as I plan to be making videos, music as well as game a lot. Other than the Gigabyte Aero 15 X9. My budget is 1500-2000 USD. Maybe a clevo and if so where can I build the best clevo (hidevolution seems really sketch but maybe I'm just ignorant). This might just be wishful thinking for RTX but the closer to 1500 dollars the better (tho I'm expecting to pay around 2000). Total budget and country of purchase: 2000 usd, USA or Canada, depends where I will be this summer.

International Warranty Queries Posted: 29 Mar 2019 11:05 PM PDT I'm from India and I want to buy an Alienware 15 R4 which has a few deals in B&H and my friend in US will get it for me as she is coming to India in June. Is the premium support necessary for international warranty and how will I purchase it when I'm buying the laptop from other vendors such as Best Buy and B&H. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a light-ish laptop with good build :) Posted: 29 Mar 2019 10:51 PM PDT **Total budget and country of purchase:** around $1150! but if it goes a little over, I might consider it :) Country of purchase will be either Vietnam or Korea! **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Good battery life for being in school all day! Maybe best specifications for the money if that can be included. **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Weight is definitely important (maybe under 1.4 kg until 1.5kg? (under 3-3.4lbs) , not sure about thinness but I think it plays a factor in weight so I guess it's important. **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows! **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 14 inches but if there is nothing for it I might consider 13. **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** There's some editing here and there and a few low-power games like Minecraft and Stardew Valley. **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** I can't think of any except for Minecraft (because it can't seem to run on my other laptop lol). Maybe at 80-ish FPS at medium settings? **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I'd like an overall great n reliable build quality. My last laptop's bezels and hinge cracked so for this one, I'd like a long lasting good quality build. Also maybe a good quality screen that's not too dim. **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I'd honestly like an i7 but if I can't do anything about it, I'll take an i5. For graphics I would prefer MX150 but I'm cool with Intel HD 620. I was considering the Asus Zenbook 14 UX433 but I've read a lot of reviews of it having a bad build and low battery life with really loud coil whine so yeah. I also thought about the Lenovo Thinkpad T series but I wasn't too sure about it so I guess I'll leave it to you guys! Thank you in advance :)) [link] [comments] |
Best Possible Gaming Laptop - $4000 Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:38 PM PDT
$4000 - USA
Best Specs for money
Light and thing would be nice since I'll be mostly gaming in bed with a controller, but I can handle a hefty laptop
Windows
15.6" would be ideal, can handle 17.3"
Some Video and photo editing, mostly gaming
All modern games; currently playing Division 2 and Sekiro. I prefer the max possible framerate, on high and can tone down a couple settings to medium.
Good screen since i'll also be watching movies on it as well.
I was looking at the Asus G703, GX701, and the GX531. Could I get away with a RTX 2080 Max Q or a RTX 2070 Max Q? I just need something that runs well and looks decent. +100FPS at High/Med settings. [link] [comments] |

List which programs/games you desire to run.** Not now, but possibly light gaming in the future. Want to keep the options open in that area. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Not in particular, probably not any new AAA titles yet. Playing on Medium settings would be fine * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I want a backlit keyboard. It needs at least one USB-C port for a docking station, and perhaps another couple USB's. SSD is not necessary. 1 TB HDD preferred minimum. 8 GB RAM minimum, HDMI port preferred. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** This is a laptop for my dad. He is going to be using this primarily for large Excel spreadsheets and Powerpoint. It doesn't need to be incredibly powerful, but I want it to last for a while. Other than Office applications, it would be Netflix, email, internet browsing type stuff. [link] [comments] |

Seeking a highly portable laptop that is a joy to type on Posted: 29 Mar 2019 01:25 PM PDT * **Total budget and country of purchase:** $1,200 USA (I am a little flexible on this if it makes sense to spend a bit more) * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best Specifications * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Important, I want to want to carry this around. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 13", can be up to 14" * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Light gaming. This isn't a critical requirement, but a desire. I don't do much FPS. Spec demanding games I play would be Civ 5, Northguard, and Divinity. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** If I can play those listed above with enough detail to see what I'm doing, that would be nice. Low settings, or a notch up would be fine. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Keyboard is critical. I am the secretary of a non-profit and will use this for taking minutes. This means I'm typing what folks are saying while they're saying it so speed and accuracy are my primary target. I will also use it to take other notes that you might consider college course notes. Typing comfort is important too. I like the keys and keyboard on the Latitude 5490 provided by my employer. It has 1.9mm travel on a chiclet keyboard. I know I like chiclet, I don't know if the large travel is what makes that keyboard work well or not. I don't like typing on my partner's Gygabyte Aero 14, I miss the e key more than 50% of the time, and other keys as well. It has a metallic mechanical feeling to it. Placement and size of the right shift and the backspace keys are also critical, they must be placed like a standard keyboard and be wide keys. I do use the arrow keys and these should be easy to navigate by touch without hitting other keys in the process. I have long nails. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I have a desktop that I do my gaming and most of my computing on. This will not replace that. It will be a portable device that can be used when I am away from my desk. While I don't need a 2 in 1, I'm not opposed to one if it functions well as a laptop. This means the Surface tablets are out. I had one, I can't rest it on my lap and type. Machines I have found and am considering are as follows. Yay/Nay on these, as well as spec suggestions for Yays are appreciated. I'll of course dig into considering anything not listed here as well.
I've got my running list with specs and such here if it's of any interest/use: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D2em_ojdkUp5gOsywjJ_L17gZgsL7eE9f5Npb5nAw3U/edit?usp=sharing [link] [comments] |

Ultrabook for occasional gaming Posted: 29 Mar 2019 12:28 PM PDT
$1000-$1500, US
Not a 2 in 1 and a good battery would be nice.
A thin and light laptop is fairly important because I will be walking around with it a lot in college. With that being said anything below 5 lbs would be good.
Windows
Anywhere from 13-15ish. Smaller side would be better though.
I want be able to do some occasional gaming.
I would play most of my games on my console but I would like to occasionally play with some pc friends or be able to play games not available on my console on a laptop.
Just a solid build to last me through college and a lot of transportation.
Thanks for you time! [link] [comments] |
Student - Recently bought a Cintiq Pro 24, for 2D animation... But I also like FFXIV. Posted: 29 Mar 2019 05:59 PM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: My budget would be around $600-$900 (being in uni is expensive. If there are cheaper options, which I doubt, that would be great!). Country is US. Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. The best specifications for the money. How important is weight and thinness to you? I like light and thin laptops, considering I may take it with me to classes. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Hopefully between 13"-15". Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'll be using Photoshop, Harmony, Adobe Animate (not often, just as long as my professor gives assignments on this program), and FFXIV. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Mostly FFXIV. I want to be able to run it at minimum, medium settings. Though I wouldn't mind a primarily lag-free experience.. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I'd like for it to last a while. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. The main thing is that I want it to work well with my Cintiq Pro, since I spent a bit of money on that. I've been using it with my Toshiba Satellite and it's usable even though the resolution isn't the best. The pen lags a bit while using Photoshop and I'm assuming it's because of my current laptop. Basically, I want something that works nicely for as cheap as possible. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
HELP A TRUCKER OUT PC MASTER RACE! I need a rig for my rig! Posted: 29 Mar 2019 05:53 PM PDT Hello again, I'm reposting another suggestion with different parameters to find the absolute best I can within my price range. I live on the road and have a useless and unplayable laptop. It doesn't have to be flashy or thin. I just want performance, unwavering reliability, and noooo helios 300 plz thanks
Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. No. Battery life doesn't matter, best I can get for the money* How important is weight and thinness to you? Neither are important. Thin and Light usually costs more, I was about to buy an alienware (not very light) I want performance* Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. windows 10 * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. no, I've looked at the alienware 13s and considered it.. 13, 15, 17, it doesn't matter really* Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Heavy gaming, movies and binge watching hulu, research. I live in my truck so this thing will be put to work guaranteed* If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? WOW, BF1, FFARR, OVRWTCH, MTGA, AAAs, MMOs, RPGs, all the fun stuff and at MAX without any worry of throttling, or Overheating* Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? 144hz would be ideal, decent keyboard, strong build quality, reliability, touchpad is obsolete to me, IPS and GOOD thermals.* Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. refurb, new, used, on sale, idc.. as long as it is on Amazon because of the no interest deal that I will be taking advantage of because there is no way in hell I can afford that much in a a couple weeks. My friend that I almost bought the Alienware recommended a ROG rig and I've been told to look at the G5 but I know I get get some amazing deals on sale or used/refurbed so I'm open to anything and want the ABsolute Best I can get while I have this opportunity. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Student laptop for work and a fair bit of gaming Posted: 29 Mar 2019 05:05 PM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: Around £500, probably no more than £750. United Kingdom
I would say Best Specs>Battery Life>2 in 1 form. Specs because I would like to carry out work and other tasks simultaneously and be able to game occasionally as well. And battery life because I'd like to have the option to take it out and about. 2-in-1 doesn't really matter too much.
I would like it to not be too chunky, so I can take it out and about occasionally and make it more easily transportable.
Windows preferably, the only one I've ever used.
N/A
Now this is a big one, I like gaming a lot, so I'd like to have the RAM and graphics to cope with older games, but have the option for newer ones as well. I mainly play RTS games like Age of Empires (and a few others), Football Manager a lot, Rollercoaster Tycoon. Not many demanding games because I leave that for console mainly. The most demanding game I play is probably football manager or Fallout New Vegas
All of the above games, and just at a setting where I can appreciate what's going on, not too fussy about high quality.
I've gone through a lot of laptops in the last 4 years, my last one lasted me about 3 and I had 2 fail me before that, so I'd like one with minimal difficulties that lasts a while. I feel like I'm probably asking a lot, but I'm not very informed. Thanks anyway [link] [comments] |

$1000 in USA
Good battery life, easy to use for filling out online forms (PDFs), reliable
Want a lightweight, easy to carry around in backpack
I've used windows, but have had so many issues with my HP which is only 2 years old. So not opposed to trying Mac.
N/A
I'm interested in trying photo editing
Nope.
Reliable, long lasting (want it for a couple years).
I've had an HP pavilion for two years and it SUCKS. The battery gave out within a year of owning it, the warranty sucked. So also looking for tips on where to buy a laptop with a good warranty. [link] [comments] |
