    Discrete gaming laptop for $1200

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 09:55 PM PST

My friend is looking for a new laptop but his parents won't get him anything that looks like a gaming laptop. He's looking for something that can play games like Forza at decent frame rates but doesn't have RGB or the "gamer aesthetic". It also can't be marketed as a gaming laptop. His budget is $1200.

    Budget gaming laptop

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 03:36 AM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase: France, 600 euros tops. Lower would be better but I think it will be complicated...
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. No idea what a 2 in 1 form factor is, I don't think I have anything to put here honestly (maybe a resistant one? Bc I'm clumsy xD)
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not too important since I will probably mostly carry it in a suitcase
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15" min. if it really has to go down to that, 17" min. would be nicer
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. ... does GIMP count? I'm not even sure I will use it on the laptop since it implies taking my graphic tablet with me.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Skyrim. Really the only demanding game I wanna play is Skyrim, bc I'm on Linux on an old PC since 5y and mostly play light games like FTL, Stardew Valley or Binding of Isaac. I would at least like to be able to play it at medium settings, and I'm frankly not certain I'm able to see a difference above 30 FPS.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Meeeh, nothing comes to mind rn, I will use a mouse anyway, a numeric pad would be nice but far from necessary
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Bc I prefer qwerty keyboards, I don't mind buying outside of France (almost on the contrary hahaha) as long as the total cost with shipping fees doesn't go above 600 euros. It seems that the Acer Aspire series would be my best bet but the one I found went up to 680 euros on the American Amazon with export fees and FOR SOME REASON THE EXACT SAME LAPTOP ON AMAZON FRANCE IS 1400 EUROS?!?? Sooo. Yup. Nope.

I'm very new to reddit and currently figuring it out so please excuse me if I did a mistake with this message 😊

I wanted some evaluation on my purchase

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 01:05 AM PST

It's an Acer laptop, it's got an i7-7700HQ 2,8GHz, a GTX1060, 16GB-RAM DDR4 and a 2TB hard drive. I've paid what would be converted to US$1400. What do you think?

Are there any new non-chiclet keyboard laptops on the market?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:16 PM PST

My old Thinkpad finally seems to be calling it quits after years of faithful service. Looking at potential replacements, what frustrates me is that essentially every manufacturer has moved to the "chiclet" style keyboard with spaces between the keys.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if anyone is still making keyboards in the older style where the keys are flush. I don't know if it's for cost savings or apple-copying or what but I just cant understand this trend. Will I have to get used to it? Or can I hold on to the (IMO) superior typing feel a little longer? I know I can always pick up something used, but even then the specs on such machines are starting to show their age.

Is there a better portable gaming laptop than the Blade 15?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 03:17 AM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase: 5000 USD, i'll buy from amazon.com, it delivers to my country

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specifications and battery life. I need at least 6 cores/12 threads. Good design, no RGB please

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Very important

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. No OS is best, i'll use Windows on it

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6", a tall screen would be prefered, but i can settle for 16:9

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Programming and gaming

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? GTA 5 at ultra

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Backlit keyboard, good touchpad, biometrics (fingerprint/windows hello)

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I'm currently using an XPS 15 and i don't like that it throttles the CPU. I can get a workstation laptop with a 8750H, but they usually come with Quadros, which i won't be able to utilise. The only graphics heavy tasks the laptop would do is gaming, no video editting or 3D modelling or whatever. I don't care about RTX, but it seems non RTX 20 series cards aren't available in laptops yet.

From the reasearch i've done so far the Razer Blade 15 with the RTX2070 seems to be the best option.

The Gigabyte Aero 15 with the RTX2070 is a close second, i like the bigger battery, but i don't like it's design as much as the Razer and i also doesn't have any biometrics.

I also looked at the MSI GS65 Stealth, but it's just too ugly for me.

Are there other options i'm missing. Are there any laptops that will launch in the coming months that might beat the Razer?

I currently own an HP Omen 15 dc0850nd, it's pretty damn quick but I do need more battery life with the same specs (i7 8750H and 16gb of ram, graphics card is nice to have but not a must). Looking at a Dell XPS 15 right now with about 512gb/1TB of storage, what are some other options I can consider?

Hello! I need a new gaming laptop!

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 11:21 AM PST

Total budget and country of purchase

$1000. I am from Colombia but I am buying it online in USA.

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

I don't care for 2 in 1 or battery life. I need the best specifications for the money.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

I travel a lot. It's not very important but it will be nice to have a light laptop for a change. My back would appreciate it.

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    15" to 17"

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I play a lot of games, most of them are platformers but, now and then, I like to play AAA games.

I have more than 300 games on Steam I am unavailable to play a lot of them.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Right now, I wish I could play GTA V, The Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey with the highest settings. I also play Skyrim constantly and I like to use a lot of mods.

    60FPS minimum.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

I don't need touchscreen or fingerprint reader.

A good keyboard is a must. The build quality has to be exceptional because I want this laptop to be with me, on heavy use, for the next 4 or 5 years.

I need at least 1TB of HDD storage and 128GB or 356GB SSD.

I need HDMI and 3 USB ports. Also a headphone jack. I would like great sound output because I listen to a lot of music in the FLAC format with my Audio Technica headphones.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

    I don't like Acer.

I have been researching a lot: MSI, Lenovo, HP, Asus. They all look the same. It's very difficult to make a decision.

Right now, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y510p that I bought 5 years ago and the quality is amazing, it looks and performs like a brand new laptop. But I can't play new games on it anymore. So, that's why I need to buy a new one.

I want to thank you in advance for taking your time to help me.

I also want to ask you, when do you think is the best time of the year to buy a laptop?

Need a work/study laptop for programming, for around 650-700EUR | HUNGARY

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 01:19 AM PST

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:**

    650-700 EUR price range, Hungary.

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.**

I prefer the best specifications, but battery life is kinda important because I plan to carry it to university and back home. This means that I'm okay with average battery life, but nothing that needs to be charged frequently. I want to avoid 2in1.

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?**

Weight is more dominant in this, because of portability.

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**

    15.6"

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**

Light gaming. I would use it mostly for work, which means programming (Visual Studio, Matlab), running virtual machines (probably not more than one).

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

Well a bad keyboard is a dealbreaker for me. Thin/narrow enter key is annoying. Also I'd like numeric keypad (maybe backlit keyboard is nice but not necessary).

$2,200, USA Looking for laptop, guys. Help!!

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 01:17 AM PST

    Hello All,

Hope Im following the rules correctly here. I have followed the format and answered questions below.

So I am looking for a laptop that will be the only machine I will use and carry at home and at work. At work it will mostly be basic tasks such as Microsoft Office Suite, many many tabs in browsers, etc...I will not be using any special softwares such as CAD etc...I do however occasionally like to use Ableton (Audio Editing Software). At home, I will mainly be using this for listening to a lot of music, watching movies, and play Counter Strike Global Offensive.

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:** - My budget is USD 2,200 and will be purchasing from either USA or Canada. I have the option of both

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** I prefer decent battery life, and specifications that will last me for the next 5 years at least.

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Thinness is important. Since I will be fairly mobile with my laptop, and in and out of my office, I would like for the laptop to not be super thick and bulky. It should look sleek

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows!

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** Minimum 15 inches, Maximum 17 inches

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** I will be gaming on it from time to time.

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** I usually only play CS:GO on my laptop. I'd prefer at least 200fps

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** It has to have a number pad, and build quality should be decent. I want it to last me as long as possible. I am willing to spend a bit more than usual as long as I get excellent life out of it. Keyboard quality is important. Not too picky about touchscreen, optical drives, etc...

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**

Build Quality: this is very important to me. I don't want to put so much money in something brittle and flimsy that will start coming apart after a couple of years.

Customer Support: I would like to be able to communicate with a helpful customer support team in the event I need to. I do not want to deal with a company that will not pay attention to their customer after they drop a lot of money on the company's product.

Warranty/After Sales Service: Looking for a brand that offers good warranty and coverage of the laptop. I understand over the years, something or the other is bound to break or go wrong and would like for the company to be able to offer excellent coverage. I do not mind paying a little extra to cover accidental damages, spills etc...

Num Pad: This is an absolute must. I use the Number Pad a lot! A lot of my work is on excel so the num pad becomes essential.

Battery Life: Needs to be decent. Not necessarily looking for astronomical performance in this area. But I would hope that I can get enough power out of a battery to get me through at least 5-6 hours without needing to plug it in.

Minimum Gamer Astetic/Profesional looking: The more professional and sleeker it looks, the better. Not a fan of the gamer aestethic but dont mind if its kept to a minimal.

USB ports: I would like at least 3 usb ports on the laptop as well as a headphone jack. As soon as I get home from the office, I connect all my peripherals to my laptop. Mouse, Keyboard, Printer, etc...

Gaming: I play CSGO at least a couple times a week. Good FPS is important. 200 fps plus would be great. Do i need a graphics card for that? 1060? 1070?

    Display: at least 1080p.

Refresh Rate: the higher the better. But not a deal breaker

Portability: Don't want to lug around a mammoth desktop replacement machine. The more portable and light, the better. Would love to be able to keep the weight below 7 pounds.

    Ram: 16gb im thinking

    Processor: i7 8th gen?

Keyboard: I will be typing a lot! The better the keyboard, the more likely I am to enjoy the experience.

I hope I have provided sufficient information to help you advise me on this purchase decision. If I've left anything out, please do ask me. I will try and answer asap.

Thanks in advance for taking out the time to go through this and helping!

    Need portable laptop for work

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:03 PM PST

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:** Japan - around 1000 dollars max, but less is more. * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best specs. Battery life not very important for, it'll usually be plugged in. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** I will use it in two different workplaces, so portability is important for me. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 12-14 * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Nope. Lots of Photoshop, and many Chrome tabs basically. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** 16gb ram. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I live in Japan, and I was looking at HP envy 13 x360 Ryzen 5, 16gb for 110000 yen. Then I noticed I could maybe import this Inspiron, and save around 250 dollars(unless I'm missing something).

    https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-13-7000-Touchscreen/dp/B01609VJG8/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=inspiron+7000+ryzen+16gb&qid=1551581273

How do the envy and Inspiron 7000 compare? I'm worried about dual channel ram, and overheating/throttling.. are there better options? Btw I'm not an AMD fan or anything, just that it is cheaper! Would it be cheaper to get an 8gb and upgrade by myself? Or are they all soldiered these days?

Girlfriend needs a laptop, Budget ~$1500 US

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 09:05 PM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Around $1500-$1800 - USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. A 2in1 seems to be preferred but if there's something out there with better CPU/GPU/RAM or display is out there at a really good price, we would consider.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Trying to go light and thin, not really looking at gaming laptops for this reason.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. leaning 15 inch but 13 inch would work.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Want to use illustrator, indesign. Will be using rhino and vray, in general arch viz type of stuff. So we're leaning towards an i7. i9 would be good but from what I've seen it doesn't seem like they're worth the price premium compared to the i7.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Not really a gamer but a GPU would be preferred as 3D viewports are often opencl accelerated possibly do some light gpu rendering.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Just needs some USB and a not terrible trackpad/keyboard. Would rather go sleek than flashy RGB...although she did kind of like some razor laptop we saw at bestbuy.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've been doing a lot of research on laptops over the last few months. I'm not a newb, but I'm more of a desktop guy. Really trying to see if there's any killer laptops we haven't yet considered.

Right now the top of the list is the following.

    Dell XPS 15 i7-8750H NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 16GB RAM

    Dell XPS 15 2in1 i7-8705G Radeon™ RX Vega M GL Graphics with 4GB HMB2 8GB RAM

    MSI GS65 Stealth i7-8750H NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 6G GDDR5 16GB RAM

Any other similar laptops out there? Any killer deals on the ones above?

    Need laptop for £750

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 12:33 AM PST

I would like a fairly big screen (15"+) and something that can smoothly run photoshop, illustrator etc. Ideal if if could also smoothly run games like Football Manager. I'm not looking to do any intensive gaming on it at all.

It will be mainly for browsing, web design, graphic design etc so something I could possibly hook up to an external monitor and quickly edit and flip between multiple browsers whilst running programs like photoshop.

    Any ideas?

    Thoughts on this?

15Inch, Canada, >$2000 laptop for Gaming, Rendering, Unity, and who knows.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 05:52 PM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Canada, Under $2000, preferably $1500

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money, battery that doesn't suck for general purpose when not plugged in. Gaming and rendering would occur only while plugged in

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Don't want a monster, but I am no longer constantly traveling / going to school, and won't have to carry it everywhere, so does not need to be thin.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15 Inch is preferred, not against 17. IPS or better (is there better? I dont mind staying at the 1080P if needed, but no TN panels)

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming will range; Left4Dead, COD, Rocket League, my Steam archive varies. Emulation of consoles, also be building games in Unity, rendering in 3d Studio/Cinema 4d. Video editing, streaming as well.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Obviously prefer 60fps and high/very high. I am not a pro gamer, will not need maxed out.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Solid keyboard (with separate number pad), others listed are gravy.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Looking to get a 1070 preferably.

I have MSI Ghost Pro with 870M from about 4 years ago. It has served me very well, until recently, as the chassis has begun to split apart, the battery is hooped and no longer holds a charge. It has always produced a lot of heat, think its started taking its toll. That said, I do have issues with it (the chassis itself is not that great, easy to dent/scoff, and before the battery died, it always had bad battery just doing normal things.)

Thank you for any assistance. I was looking at some options listed around, but nothing that has stood out.

Is a refurbished Lenovo Ideapad 320 a suitable replacement for an old 15 inch 2010 MacBook Pro? Used for working online

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 11:43 PM PST

Currently using a 15 inch 2010 MacBook Pro that's way past it. It's very slow but does the job. I currently work online, and am looking for a replacement laptop to do this.

I only really need to run a few programmes, a video chat client, a virtual desktoo from which I run simple data collection software for my company of employment.

I've found a refurbished Lenovo Ideapad 320 for £190, and although reviews comment it's quite slow, compared to a 2010 MacBook Pro it will probably be a slight improvement no? Or am I completely wrong? I won't use it for anything else as else, just the work programmes.

Can't decide between these budget gaming laptops...

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 11:30 PM PST

I'm going to buy a laptop and right now I'm stuck between these three models - MSI GF63 8RC - Acer Nitro 5 - Asus TUF FX504GD

All these models have Intel Core i5-8300H processors, GTX 1050 4gb VGA and comes in similar prices (around USD920 in my country) I saw in few Youtube videos that Acer Nitro 5 (Dave 2D's video) and Asus TUF (Techtablets' video) has thermal issues. In Mathew Moniz's video he said that MSI GF63 has a good thermal management system despite having one cooling fan. So I'm a bit more into MSI.

Can you guys please suggest me the best one frome these with your experiences? Are there any better laptop instead of these?

Also I left laptops like Asus Vivobook S15 because it has Intel U processors (i7-8550U). What's better in terms of performance? i5-8300H or i7 8550U?

    • Total budget and country of purchase: LKR165,000 around USD900, Sri Lanka

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specification

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? It'll be great if the weight is low but I wouldn't might the thinness

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, Android Studio, IntelliJ IDE, Photoshop, Premiere,

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Just moderate gaming. GTX 1050 maybe

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Must be durable

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Just need to know what's best from above mentioned laptops

Need Laptop for Engineering Work (MATLAB, SolidWorks, ANSYS) and Gaming (Kerbal)| Up to $1000 | US

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 11:18 PM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase: I'm in the US. I'm willing to spend up to $1000 but the lower the better.
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I prefer the best specifications for my money. Battery life and 2 in 1 don't matter much to me, but they don't hurt to have.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? The more compact the better. I don't bring my current laptop to class because it's heavy.
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Between 14 and 16. I like to have a number pad and I don't typically see that on the small laptops.
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I will be doing CAD and gaming. I need to be able to run MATLAB/Simulink, SolidWorks, ANSYS etc. for my aerospace engineering work.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Kerbal Space Program with a lot of mods.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A good keyboard that is back lit is necessary. I would prefer to have a number pad. Reliable build quality is extremely important, my current laptop (HP ENVY m6) is falling apart and the hinges. The fan needs to be quite. Need an HDMI. Decent speakers are a plus.

Looking for a classic gaming laptop with a 17" screen, budget is $750-800.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:23 PM PST

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

$750-800, though I'd actually like to come in under $700 if possible. In the U.S. I'd like to use Amazon while I've got a Prime 30-day trial.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

No need for 2-in-1, battery's not a concern (I mostly use laptops while plugged in), so primarily specs. No need for a touch screen.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

    Not an issue.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Very much prefer a 17", as that's what I've currently got, and am used to. That's pretty much my primary issue, although for the right system I could (reluctantly) drop to a standard 15.6."

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I used "classic gaming" in the title because I don't expect to play anything less than 2-3 years old. Oblivion, Skyrim, the ME series, Half-Life series, Hearts of Iron 3 & 4, maybe shooters like CoD4 (I've only played Oblivion out of these). I'd like to play all of these at high graphics quality, but they're all older so I don't need a rig that screams.

Besides that it's pretty much just Chrome, VLC & WMP for movies & podcasts, iTunes, and paint.net or GIMP.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

No particular preference, just something that won't fall apart in two or three years. No need for fancy features - I just need USB ports & wifi.

EDIT: I've got my eye on this at the moment: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Quad-core-Processor-Wireless-AC-Bluetooth/dp/B07G8MQZG5/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=laptop+17%22+screen&qid=1551566056&rnid=11549032011&s=pc&sr=1-4
