5 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 94) Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:39 AM PST Sorry about the delay this week, fellow Android Gamers! <3 But welcome back to my weekly 5 quick mobile gaming recommendations based on the games I've played this week. This time, I'll be covering a new turn-based strategy Polytopia-competitor, a fun Crash Arena Turbo Stars-like simulation game where we build and upgrade our tribe to take on 1v1 singleplayer arena batttles, an action RPG from 2016 that in some ways beat most new RPGs, a turn-based strategy game that reminded me a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, and finally an MMORPG with one of the most skill-based and action-packed combat systems I've seen in an MMO. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 94 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's jump to the games!:Hexonia [Game Size: 107 MB] (free)Genre: Strategy / Turn-based / Civilization – Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Hexonia is a turn-based strategy game where the goal of each game is to conquer the bases of all opponents by building an army and expanding our territory as much as possible. Yes, just like Polytopia - so which is better? Here are my quick thoughts. In Hexonia, the graphics look better and more polished, the research tree UI is simpler, and we have more control over difficulty and map sizes. However, there's no multiplayer mode, only 1 tribe to play us until 2 more are unlocked through achievements and the rest through iAP, we're locked to portrait-mode, and there's just a single game-mode. To conclude; Hexonia is more polished overall, but has less features than Polytopia. Hexonia is still brand new, however, so additional features will most likely be added - and if multiplayer and more tribes make it into the game, it will become an easy pick. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Marimo League [Game Size: 165 MB] (free)Genre: Simulation / Action / C.A.T.S-like - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Marimo League, not unlike Crash Arena Turbo Stars (C.A.T.S.), has us continually strengthen our warrior tribe over time by upgrading our totem pole and skills, and then watch our warrior automatically defeat opponents in 1vs1 singleplayer matches while we strategically use skills to impact the outcome of the fight. The game is very enjoyable and highly polished, and although lacking C.A.T.S' multiplayer aspect, there's a ton of singleplayer leagues to finish to keep us entertained. Unlocking new sections for our totem pole requires crafting, which has a built-in wait time - just like a light loot box system, and the high difficulty of the game means a bit of grinding, or iAP-buying, may be necessary. On the bright side, however, there are no forced ads nor energy systems. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here The World 3: Rise of Demon [Total Game Size: 337 MB] (free)Genre: RPG / Action / Old – Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: The World 3 is a 2016 no-loot campaign-based action RPG with 2 classes (warrior and mage), over-the-top skill animations, no energy system, and offline playability. The controls work well, making it easy to target enemies to correctly land our skills, and I overall had fun with this game. Just like most aRPGs, the combat will become slightly repetitive over time, and some may not enjoy the lack of loot, which means we only have 3 equippable items that can be upgraded but never replaced. The iAP stop already at $25, and in comparison to many new aRPGs, the monetization is very relaxed. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here King's Bounty Legions [Total Game Size: 525 MB] (free)Genre: Strategy / Turn-based / Heroes of Might and Magic-like - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: King's Bounty Legions is a 2013 (yes, that old!) turn-based strategy game based on the original King's Bounty game, which was the original inspiration for the gameplay in Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HOMM3). Unlike HOMM3, however, King's Bounty Legions consists of one very long campaign instead of multiple smaller campaigns, and while the castle-building aspect of HOMM3 has been removed, each of our units can use skills during combat, which adds a nice additional strategic and complexity layer to the combat. Sadly, the game is rather buggy, the UI buttons are too small, and the controls are NOT optimized properly for mobile. Additionally, the iAPs allow us to acquire new units and spells immediately, which adds a pay-to-progress-faster element to the game. Needless to say, I love everything this game stands for and tries to be, but the execution may upset some of you as it did me. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Dragon Nest M [Game Size: 2.15 GB] (free)Genre: MMORPG / Fantasy / Action - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: A 3D MMORPG with skill-based action combat (aRPG) gameplay? How refreshing! The Dragon Nest M combat is much more rewarding and interesting than that found in the vast majority of mobile MMORPGs, and the 6 different classes provide a good variety in combat styles. However, the universe sadly isn't open-world, instead opting for a shared "open" city with all combat areas split into instances. In addition, there's an energy system limiting our play-sessions length, new armor pieces don't change the look of our character, and the cash shop makes the PVP highly pay-to-win. Such a shame. With that said, the amazing combat system may just be the game's redeeming feature that will make some of you fall in love with it regardless of the downsides. Any Good Counter Strike-type games? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:21 PM PST Title. I've tried Standoff 2 already, but the game's damage and recoil mechanics make no sense to me so I stopped. Anything else out there? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 10:31 PM PST So I have the Razer phone with the lastest Android. KOTOR will not load no matter what. I've contacted support and they said to clear my cache, restart my phone then reinstall. I did that and it still won't work. What's happening is it will boot up, go to "verify download" for quick second the close out. It just keeps closing out one second after opening. Any ideas what could be causing this? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 08:31 PM PST Do any emulators out there support saving video? I'm wanting to do some videos, but with the sad state of audio capture on Android, doing basic screen recording isn't going to cut it. I've tried every combination of stuff to capture internal audio on my Moto g6 and none of it works, which leaves me with finding emulators that maybe, possibly do it. [link] [comments]
Single character development rpg? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 08:13 PM PST Looking for a rpg that where i have 1 customizable character that i can level up, customize skills, build around gears, and play without stamina/energy running out. Micro transactions or pay up front, i'm fine with both. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:01 PM PST Part II. Nice game but is way too hard which sucks the fun out of it. III. The generational story line is cool and I dont know why this game is hated. IV. I like that you can drive vehicles and stuff. Its like a beefed up part II. I think this game was like 80 bucks back in 1994 ? Part V. LOL there is no part V. For some reason Sega turned Phantasy Star into a MMO style game. Seems like pure greed to me. Sega sucks. [link] [comments]
How should I monetize my android game? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:35 AM PST I've made a simple 2D game (Let's say, like Mario) and I want to monetize it. Here are the options I have 1- Completely free to play with no ads and politely ask for donation. 2- Ads play every time it's 'Game Over'. 3- In-game store where everything can be bought under $0.70 (price can be lowered). 4- Sell the game for $0.70 (price can be lowered). The game is pretty simple with four different gameplays. [link] [comments]
[REQUEST] Looking for a good diablo esq. game with multiplayer. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:47 AM PST Basically I've been playing titan quest, and really enjoying it. I'd like to play something similar with a multiplayer element. Preferably team dungeon raiding. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:02 PM PST This may be very general but I will try my best. I am willing to spend money on a game, what I'm not going to enjoy is micro transactions.
I know this seems very general but that's what I'm looking for. The algorithm has destroyed my recommendations. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:33 PM PST Is anyone here an old player of the gps location based game called parallel kingdom? It was hands down the best game I have ever played but sadly it was ended years ago. If anyone has any recommendations of a game like this I would really appreciate it. Here is a wiki about the game: Wiki link [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:17 PM PST I like games where you build teams of characters, trying to mesh abilities and creature types. I really enjoyed SW Galaxy of Heroes back in the day, atleast for the first few weeks until it got too grindy. I guess that's what I'm looking for, a team builder that isn't a grindfest. Thanks. some tips from Life after game Posted: 02 Mar 2019 09:03 AM PST so, i have been playing life after and it's fun, a bit grindy but fun. But rn am stuck at a point. i have a quest on my newbi book which says for me to upgrade my gather, craft and combact to level 10. Now, the problem is i am at lvl 6 or something at all those. and it's taking long to grind. Any tip on how to do it faster? or it's the only way to just cut million of trees. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:44 AM PST I want something similar to Civ (even just general building strategy games where you can take your time) but everything I have seen are filled with obnoxious micro transactions and I'd rather not commit to a purchase before realising its just like the rest. Any recommendations and basic synopsis of them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:56 PM PST Sequel to the zombie side scroller from Korea. I noticed its out but not available in my country. Anyone have it ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 10:00 AM PST I'm looking for a good survival game like Life After available in the UK as Life After is not available in the UK [link] [comments]
Where can I download LifeAfter? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 09:39 AM PST Been hearing a lot about this game but I can't seem to find it on the play store. I've got a Huawei Mate 10 so the game not being compatible with my phone probably is not the problem. I suspect the game is still region-locked or something, and if that's the case, can someone hand me an APK for it? Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments]
