What is the android equivalent to rasphone.exe? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:13 AM PST When I want to connect my laptop to the internet in my dorm room via an Ethernet cable, I need to execute rasphone.exe and use an account and password given to me by the dorm administration to access the internet. To get WIFI in my room I bought a NETGEAR WIFI router (Model: WNR2000v5). I use that WIFI and rasphone.exe to get access to the internet on my laptop but my mobile phone (Nexus 4, Android 5.1.1) doesn´t have the rasphone.exe. So here is my question: Is there a way to mimic the process I use on my laptop with rasphone.exe on my phone? I tried to look for solution on the internet and found tutorials, which talked about "PPTP" and "W10M" but I wasn´t able to understand or follow those tutorials. Any help is highly appreciated because I don't believe I can figure this out by my own. [link] [comments] |
ELI5 me about mesh network, Access Point, MoCA, & wifi extenders/booster? Posted: 24 Feb 2019 09:06 PM PST I am having trouble understanding these concepts I have a big house with 10 to 15 devices. I want a complete wi-fi coverage with no dead spots. So I started a venture to know how to do this? and on my journey, I found out about mesh network, Access Point, MoCA, & wifi extenders/booster. Someone told me wifi extenders/boosters are for coverage. basically, you get the same power of your original wifi connection with better coverage but with additional headache of SSID's & latency. also, they are cheap. Now here comes the mesh network user gets the same thing as wifi extenders/boosters but with no additional headache of SSID. however, latency is still a problem & as compare to extenders/boosters They are quite expensive. now I am really having trouble understanding analogy behind Access point. some says don't use mesh network or extenders/boosters just use multiple access points and you are done. basically, they operate as a mesh network. I am pretty sure I am misinformed about this. MoCA - Someone told me this is a god of all the above. Latency is good enough, you don't need to worry about SSID or expensive mesh networks. However, If I want to use this functionality, it only works with coax cables/network. but I have ADSL/DSL/SDSL i.e. copper-based wires. will it work? In coming months my area is going to get a fiber optic based line & I am pretty sure I am going to OPT for it. will MoCA be compatible with it? Thankyou for reading. & Forgive me, I know all this is confusing due to my lack of better wording. also, I am not good with my English so be sure to point out any grammatical mistakes you found while reading this post. it's gonna help me improve my English. Wiping a laptop without admin access. Posted: 24 Feb 2019 05:04 PM PST I want to completely wipe a windows laptop so that a new windows that I will buy can be reinstalled on it. The laptop is from a company that has now folded and nobody wanted it but there is all sorts of admin access on it so I cannot do a factory restore and it may be linked to an old Microsoft account. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
GPU crashed and now one of my monitors don't have a signal Posted: 24 Feb 2019 06:54 PM PST I was rendering in Blender when my monitors suddenly shut off. I restarted my computer and now only one of two monitors work. The other one doesn't get any signal. I've tried reinstalling the driver and making sure everything is plugged it. Is my GPU dead? I'm really concerned :/ EDIT: Okay so all my other ports work except for the DisplayPort ports. Are they dead for good or is there any chance they'll magically start working again [link] [comments] |
