    Introducing MIUI Updates Tracker V2!

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 06:23 AM PST

Many of Xiaomi users know about my open-source script MIUIUpdatesTracker. For users who don't know what is that:

It's a script that automatically track Xiaomi MIUI ROM releases and send messages to telegram and discord channels to notify users

It's been a long time since its first version released in July. So it's the time for some new updates.

V2 is released a day ago, it's written in python, and store latest ROMs info in json files, for global and china devices both global and fastboot, stable and weekly.

One more good news is there'll be a page to get all these miui different downloads in one place on XiaomiFirmwareUpdater website soon, because it's a tiring job to get various versions of ROMs since MIUI official site is no longer showing fastboot and China ROMs.

I'm looking forward to read your opinions and suggestions about the new update, also, feel free to check and suggest code changes here https://github.com/XiaomiFirmwareUpdater/miui-updates-tracker

Global Mi Mix 3 LTE bands?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 05:11 PM PST

It appears global versions of the Mi Mix 3 are beginning to surface the web in videos and articles. However, I haven't been able to find any concrete information if the global version has the same LTE bands as the higher end Chinese versions. Can anyone with a global version chime in? I'd like to purchase one before Chinese New Years hits and shipping delays begin but don't want to get a global version only to find out it's the same as the Chinese version in terms of LTE bands.

I think my battery is draining too fast, picture provided.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 12:20 PM PST

I got my Pocophone few days ago so I could try factory reset but perhaps im overreacting, i have few apps set to full power to work outside of miui battery limiter plan namely because I had problems with instantly getting new messages in Whattsup or being notified by new mail by Aquamail, last app is Amazfit pace companion app that provides notification on my smartwatch. Battery chart looks like this:

    https://i.postimg.cc/mgfshPfG/Screenshot-2019-01-02-20-56-02-349-com-miui-securitycenter.png

And as you can see, device is awake most of the time. I'm on a stable rom with Android Pie. Without touching my phone 5-6 hours looses 10% of the battery. What should I do?

Receiver not working on Mi A2 Global

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:20 PM PST

I've been trying various fixes for this, but the top speaker that you put to your ear doesn't seem to work on my Mi A2. If I set a call to speaker the sounds comes out just fine out the botton, but the top speaker is dead silent. Any advice?

    Cooling Xiaomi 13'3 MX150 Fingerprint Ed ?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 05:54 PM PST

picked up this laptop on sale, amazing piece of tech MX150 is a great little graphics card that can actually run modern games at 1366x768 at mid settings! However it gets hot, really hot. I should benchmark the temperatures. I wanted to ask advice on how to keep it cool? Do laptop cooling pads actually work?

Techie Question: Can you substitute a Xiaomi battery for another Xiaomi battery but a different model? If so, what are the side effects?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 05:08 AM PST

Was planning on replacing my Redmi Note 5A's battery (BN31) but the spare batteries aren't available to ship to my country. There are some other Xiaomi batteries available though but only different models. I was wondering whether I could substitute the battery with another model.

A2 Lite or Redmi Note 6 Pro

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 11:18 AM PST

I own Note 6 Pro but I am frustrated with notifications not being in status bar and I have to wait a lot to get bootloader unlocked so I can try some ROM.

I am happy with battery life, camera and performance. I would switch to A2 Lite but I don't want to go to something worse.

So, how does A2 Lite handles notifications? I am frustrated that RN6P doesn't show them on lockscreen. Sometimes does sometimes doesn't.

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

My local Xiaomi store asked me for my Google login and password and I'm not cool with that.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 12:38 AM PST

    Backstory:

A few months ago I bought two Xiaomi A1 phones from a Xiaomi online store in my country, South Africa.
They both arrived pretty quickly and were great devices from the start.
A couple of months later, the one device started to malfunction - it would give ghost inputs on the screen on the "back button" and would randomly return to the home screen no matter what you were doing. I did multiple full factory resets and the problem still persisted. Eventually I lodged a complaint with the store and they arranged for the phone to be collected, kept it a week and sent it back to me saying that the fault had been fixed. It turns out that all that they did was perform a software update (it already had the latest OTA update on it) which did absolutely nothing and the phone basically started glitching again as soon as I booted it up. A long back-and-forth ensued before they eventually sent me a replacement device.

Yesterday they contacted me to ask for the PIN to unlock the faulty device that I returned to them, which I happily gave. They then claimed that the PIN I gave them doesn't work, so they're just going to wipe the phone and set it up as new. At this stage I honestly don't give a damn what they do. I have a functioning replacement and that faulty phone is now their problem, but here's where it got weird: They then advised me that they'll probably need my Google login and password details that I used on the phone. So much nope.
I responded saying that if my Google account was the problem then that glitch would be appearing on every other device that I have used, including the replacement A1 and that it's highly improbable that a fault which appears to be on a hardware level such as the screen digitiser stems from my actual Google account, and that there was no way in hell they're getting my login details.

So is it just me, or does this sound sketchy AF?

    Pocophone Best Price/Aftercare to Ireland

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 03:25 PM PST

Driving myself mad looking and looking to get this phone.

I dont want to go and grab the cheapest one and then find out if issues its to go back to China or no warranty at all.

Honorbuy was the last recommendation I got on Boards.ie, looking on geekbuying as got android box without issues, but seen back feedback on here about them and they have no stock

Prefer black, 128Gb storage if not silly money compared to 64Gb, if big jump then 64Gb will do

    Thanks

which one to buy: Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Redmi Note 6 Pro

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:41 PM PST

    Hi Everyone!

I'm picking the mobile I will be using for the next 2 years, maybe more. And the options are reduced to these two. The Mi A2 64GB version is $216 USD while the Redmi Note 6 Pro 32GB version is $185 in my country.
The main thing that holds me back for getting the Mi A2 is the lack of micro-SD Slot since I'm looking for a good futureproof mobile that doesn't gets slow after 1 year of use and can hold the apps that you throw at it.

I couldn't find any real difference between the SD 660 of the A2 and the 636 that comes with the Note 6 Pro and the cameras aren't that important since I don't take many pictures or record videos. I don't mind the lack of Jack 3.5 on the A2 either. All I'm looking for is performance that last.

    Thanks in advance.

Is it worth it to upgrade from Redmi 4 pro to Mi A2 Lite for the sake of the camera?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:27 PM PST

I am not sure whether upgrading to the A2 Lite would make a noticeable improvement in regard to camera quality, has anyone made this switch and has any feedback?
