[META] Moderators of r/Xiaomi, can you please do your job or let other people take over. Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:00 PM PST If one of your rules is that all photos highlighting the capabilities of a Xiaomi phone camera has to be posted in the Bi-Weekly thread (which is already a month old), then why have there been so many threads with photos left up? This is r/Xiaomi, not r/PhonePhotography for fucks sake. I like photography but I'm not fine with it flooding a good subreddit just because you can't do your job. [link] [comments]

Mi 3G Router OpenWRT instructions (R3G, the one with USB3 and gigabit ethernet) Posted: 01 Jan 2019 10:55 AM PST There are some old posts on installing Padavan and whatnot on old Mi Wifi R3 Routers (USB 2.0 and 100mbit ports) but the links in those don't work for the newer R3G routers. Connect your router to the internet and run through the whole setup. It won't flash the firmware you download unless it can check for new firmware from the internet. Chrome's translate this page is crazy useful. Go grab the dev firmware: If that link is down for some reason go here and click on ROM and find "ROM for R3G", the link on the left for each router is the normal firmware, the link on the right is for dev firmware. Flash this firmware in your router under "Common settings" (third link at the top) -> "system status" ("i" in an orange circle). Grab the kernel and rootfs for OpenWRT from here: They are labeled mir3g-squashfs-kernel1.bin and mir3g-squashfs-rootfs0.bin. Put these on a FAT32 formatted flash drive. Next is linking your router with your Xiaomi account (yeah, no way around this without soldering pins onto your board and flashing through serial). Pick up the Xiaomi Mi Wifi Router app on your android (Apple too maybe? I dunno): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiaomi.router&hl=en_US Log into your Xiaomi account and connect to your router. Next is getting SSH access for your router: Go here while behind your R3G router. Any links you follow on this webpage will be without https, you'll have to add https to the front of them: Download rootkit, follow instructions (add https again). Note root password. Put the bin file on the usb stick with the OpenWRT kernel and rootfs. Unplug your router and plug in the usb stick. Hold down the reset button and plug in your router. Don't let go of the reset button until the yellow light on the front turns on. Should only be a few seconds. When your router boots back up you should have ssh access. If it doesn't work you might have to enable USB3.0 with the Xiaomi Mi Wifi Android app (I had to). Its in the settings somewhere. ssh to router then: (Copied from https://forum.openwrt.org/t/xiaomi-wifi-router-3g/5377/57) cd /extdisks/sda1 (can be different if you remove and reinsert the usb stick) mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-kernel1.bin kernel1 mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-rootfs0.bin rootfs0 nvram set flag_last_success=1 nvram commit reboot Viola! You have OpenWRT! Wifi isn't enabled yet, and Luci isn't running (Luci is the default web ui for OpenWRT). Check here for Luci. Remember to set the country for your wifi radios! I pulled from the old Xiaomi R3 router tutorial here on /r/Xiaomi , the 4pda.ru post https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=837667 , and some of the OpenWRT forums to make all this work. Good luck! [link] [comments]
Where can I buy a Xiaomi Curved TV? Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:10 PM PST As the title states, I'm looking for a curved TV. I live in the US, and I know the only way to buy most Xiaomi products is online. However, I can't find one of these TVs anywhere. Any idea? [link] [comments]
RN5 - Screen Mirror Casting - Custom ROM Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:10 PM PST I'm about to buy the Redmi Note 5 Pro and I wonder if any custom ROM supports screen mirror casting? (I'm not staying with stock ROM. Been there, done that.) [link] [comments]

(Pocophone) Fullscreen youtube videos cut off by notch after Android Pie update Posted: 01 Jan 2019 12:27 PM PST Is anyone else experiencing this? I was very excited when I updated my Pocophone to Pie but today I noticed this key behavior has changed and it's really bothering me. Before Pie, if I stretched out a video (zoom to fill) on youtube it would be enlarged and the top and bottom cut off, but the video would be aligned with the chin to avoid touching the notch so I always got a clean experience. This has always been a praise I had for the Pocophone video viewing experience. But now, after the update, every single enlarged video completely fills the screen and thus gets cut off by the notch. Now you might be thinking "just don't watch enlarged videos if you don't like seeing the notch" and sure, that's fine for anything in 16:9, but then I watched a video in 18:9 and those always gets cut by the notch even if I don't want them to because they're now always center aligned. (Example 18:9 video). Is this the same for everyone else? And if so does anyone know if it's a known bug that's going to be fixed or if it's the intended behavior? Note: am on MIUI Global stable rom (10.1.3.0) [link] [comments]

Unlock bootloader - Mi Account share Posted: 01 Jan 2019 03:42 PM PST I would like to know if anyone who has Mi account which can be used for unlocking bootloader would like to share? I got mine waiting for 360 hours and would like to unlock bootloader now. I am so disappointed with RNP6 and want to sell it. But I would like to try ROMS and see if I'll keep the phone or not. So if anyone has an account and is willing to share it would be awesome! You can PM me. [link] [comments]

No notification sound just on Messages Posted: 01 Jan 2019 02:29 PM PST I have a Redmi Note 5 and I get notified with sounds for all apps that I want to hear from except for the Messages app from Google. I get the notifications and my phone will vibrate but no sound. I've tried different themes, different sounds, different settings in the app and in the os settings and I've come to the conclusion that it's either a bug or a setting I can't find. Little help? What is the best rom or gcam for Whyred Posted: 01 Jan 2019 12:16 PM PST I uses to have Gcam on Miui9 and I remember that iw as able to take 20 Photos at a time on Portrait Mode. Then came Miui10 and then PE and then HAVOC 2.0 and none have been able to provide an experience like that. Most of the Cams usually allow me to take upto 5 photos. And Havoc 2.0 is giving me issues on most of the cams available [link] [comments]
