What tablet would be a good option to use in my car for maps etc. Posted: 01 Jan 2019 07:32 PM PST So I do a lot of travel in my truck, but the Toyota entune head unit is garbage and I've seen alot of people get a tablet holder and run that with their map app etc. I'm just wondering what tablet would be a good option? I've been looking around but they all seem a little pricey and looking for an Android tablet is pretty hard right now as they aren't in a good place. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? Posted: 01 Jan 2019 04:43 PM PST How do I prevent installing new apps from Play Store? I want to prevent accidental installation of apps by my grandfather using his phone, and clicking on ads while using his pre-installed games/apps or browsing internet. Play Store parental control settings did not help because they still let trough the apps with "everyone" rating [link] [comments] |

Google Play Store showing "Switch to Canada Play Store" Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:19 PM PST I'm in Canada, but my Google Play Store account seems to be based in the US. After going to Account -> Preferences, it says switch to Canada Play Store, but prompts me to submit a credit card to make the change. Why can't it just load up the Canadian Play Store? This problem is preventing me from downloading Canadian apps. [link] [comments] |

screen died on galaxy S7, but phone works. help me recover my photos! Posted: 01 Jan 2019 09:27 PM PST here's my situation. i have a galaxy s7 and the screen completely crapped out on it. literally just completely black, but the functionality is still perfect besides that. alarm still goes off, it still rings when receiving a call, USB connects etc. So i just wanted to at least recover the photos i have on the internal memory, since i didn't use an SD card. The problem is that since it died, I dont have access to unlock the phone with my thumbprint anymore, because when it restarts it requires my passcode, so every app I've tried just asks me to unlock my phone, but with no screen access i can't do that. Is there an app or way for me to access my photos so i dont lose everything? the file explorer just shows "empty folder" or whatever because the phone is locked on windows. I've also tried third party apps on a mac to try and access my files, but so far I'm at a loss. I know I most likely need a miracle in this situation, but any advice would be great. thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
[Samsung Galaxy] In device maintenance -> storage, what does cleaning the storage actually remove? Posted: 01 Jan 2019 09:14 PM PST [Galaxy S7] I perform a device maintenance optimization/storage clean about every month, and it removes around ~400mb of data. What files are being deleted? Am I at risk of deleting files that I have stored on my phone's internal storage or SD card? [link] [comments] |
S9 lost, can call it but ”Find my phone” says it’s offline. Posted: 01 Jan 2019 09:11 PM PST So I'm in another country right now and my phone disappeared yestarday night at the beach. It wasn't connected to a wi-fi and I have no internet plan here. "Find my phone" tells me it's not connected to a network obviously, I can however call it. I have bought some extra MB to see if it finds a network to no avail. But I've also gotten the impression that it doesn't actually need an internet connection for the GPS to track it. So I can't really get my head around this. Is it off? Can you call a turned off/stolen and still get a call as if it's turned on? Or can you isolate block the GPS tracker? [link] [comments] |
Merging SMS threads with SMS Backup and Restore Posted: 01 Jan 2019 04:12 PM PST Hi, my S7 unfortunately died yesterday (a motherboard failure according to the repair shop). I'd like to get a new phone rather than spend the money to repair it, as my contract is up anyway. I'd really like to get my SMS history off the phone if that's at all possible, but I'm beginning to see from some research that that can't be done with a dead motherboard. Therefore, what I'm thinking now is that I'll just get a new phone first, repair the old one at a later date when I have more money, and then merge the SMS databases then so I'll have my complete history on my new phone. However, I'm not sure if it's possible to merge databases in this way. I've read that you can set SMS Backup and Restore to restore up to a certain date; however, if I've texted the same person before and after that date, does anyone know if merging the databases will also merge those two seamlessly into one thread, or if there'll be an old and new thread with the same person? Thanks in advance! :) [link] [comments] |
Help Transfer Android to Android Posted: 01 Jan 2019 03:37 PM PST So my mom got her LG-G5 stolen and she had lots of contact from her work in it. She needs at least those back. She now has a new phone but she doesn't know how to transfer her saved datas into her new cell. How can I help her? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 03:01 PM PST I am trying to unlock a Samsung S5 to use on a different carrier that was on iWireless. I read on their wiki page that they were deactivated by Tmobile so I called Tmobile. To say the least they were not helpful and said they could not help with iWireless related problems. Is there any other way to go about unlocking this phone? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:21 PM PST Im going to buy a OnePlus 6 and the A6000 international model is cheaper than the A6003. The only difference between the two is 3 bands only one of which effects me band 71. Will the A6000 work good in the U.S.? I should be fine considering my honor 7x has wayyy less bands than the A6000 but I just want to make sure. [link] [comments] |
Has anyone else struggled to get Microsoft's Your Phone to sync with your phone? Posted: 01 Jan 2019 06:00 PM PST I would love to see how it bridges Android and Windows, but it never works. It gets stuck on Please install the app spinning wheel. This is strange because I have the same account logged in on Microsoft Launcher and Your Phone on my Pixel 2 XL, the same account as my Windows PC. My Windows 10 computer is also up to date. I would appreciate any help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 02:08 PM PST Hi everyone! I have a Samsung S8, nothing fancy done to it. I am trying to make it so I have a preview of new messages when they come in when my screen is unlocked. I don't mean the "swipe down on the top and you see a preview," I mean a popup preview. I am not sure where else to check so I figured I would ask you guys. These are my current Messages settings: [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to create homescreen icons for Google Assistant action? Posted: 01 Jan 2019 05:35 PM PST I know it sounds weird, but I would like to create a home shortcut that triggers a Google Assistant action. Is it possible? For example: I tap on the icon and Google tells me the weather, without having to ask or write "what's the weather?". (This is not what I'm actually trying to accomplish). Thanks Edit: I forgot to say that I've tried with IFTTT and their "button widget", but unfortunately Google Assistant only works with IF and not with THAT. Tasker is also an option but I would like something simpler... [link] [comments] |
Google play books cannot cast to Google home mini Posted: 01 Jan 2019 05:33 PM PST I have two Google home minis and wish to listen to my audiobooks via Google Play Books. If I try to cast the book, it will buffer, fail to connect, and then reset my page in the book. If I say the command, "Hey Google read my audiobook" it will respond with "ok, playing (Audiobook) on Google play books from where you left off" and then silence. Bluetooth and device audio mirroring works fine, but casting does not. [link] [comments] |
Google Maps Broken From Newest Update Posted: 01 Jan 2019 05:31 PM PST Device: Pixel 3, Pie Issue: Maps will not connect, whether through Wi-Fi or LTE. Maps will either say Can't Connect or Couldn't get this info: Something mysterious stopped Maps from searching this Area. When I delete the updates and revert to factory, the issues are gone. I started to notice this issue about a week ago. Looks like the last update is December 19. Is this a known issue? [link] [comments] |
