My experience moving from iPhone 6 to OnePlus 5T Posted: 03 Jan 2019 07:15 AM PST A few weeks ago I decided to move to my old iPhone 6 to the OnePlus 5T. I was considering the 6 but didn't have the budget for it. A lot of the technical specs and other features that I saw in YouTube review videos didn't really matter to me. I was interested to see how it'll hold up to things I consider convenient and my everyday usage. Pros
Cons
The pros are really awesome, but the cons drive me mad on a daily basis. I guess nothing is perfect, but I am still absolutely loving this phone. Edit: Formatting. [link] [comments] |
OnePlus bullet wireless failed rma because of rubber ear piece. Posted: 03 Jan 2019 02:52 PM PST Had a 2 warranty claims on my OnePlus wireless bullets. One was dead on arrival and 2nd unit developed volume button issues. Volume through headset was stuck at maybe 25%>. No physical damage to headset. So OnePlus asked me to send them in for repair. Majority of instructions were for a OnePlus phone. Just received an email saying rma failed for missing rubber ear piece. Doesn't help that responses through OnePlus are days apart. Any quicker way to get this resolved or is this normal? Been going back and forth since mid November. [link] [comments] |
9.0.11 broke Google Fi overseas data Posted: 03 Jan 2019 01:20 PM PST I live in Japan. After recently taking a trip to the US for the Holidays, I flew back to Japan and discovered that data wasn't working on 9.0.11, even though two weeks prior it worked fine when I was on 9.0.7. After chatting extensively with Google Fi support, and frankly doing all the troubleshooting steps I had already done, I discovered that another user on the official forums was having problems with their 6T in Canada after the update, when it had worked on an earlier Pie firmware. Had anyone else had this is problem? Trying to get higher visibility by OnePlus on this as now I'm stuck using my old phone, where data works just fine with the exact same SIM. Also, posted this moments ago on the OnePlus support forums too. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jan 2019 11:02 AM PST Ever since I updated to Android P on my 5t, my screen calibration has been changing back to default at seemingly random intervals. I usually use sRGB, and what happens is when I noticed it's switched I will go into screen calibration and sRGB is still selected, yet selecting something else and reselecting sRGB will suddenly change the color profile to how it should look. Wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and can offer any help. Not sure if this is the wrong place for bug reports, will remove if needed. [link] [comments] |
ram management on 6gb models op5/5T android pie is not as good as it was on oreo. Posted: 03 Jan 2019 04:35 AM PST even after 4-5 light apps jumping back to youtube make its reload the entire playing video. [link] [comments] |
OnePlus One for 66 dollars. Worth it ? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 02:21 PM PST I can buy used OnePlus One for 66 dollars. It has some scratches at the edges and some scratches on screen, but overall its condition is good. Is it worth it ? I want to buy this phone because I'm looking for a backup for my OP6T and also have some "fun" with custom ROMs. Likewise the phone will be occasionally used by my younger brother. Should I buy the bullets wireless? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 08:16 PM PST I'm generally fairly careful with my earbuds, and would really like a pair of wireless earbuds. I just got the Oneplus 6t. The earbuds look relatively inexpensive too. That said, should I buy these? Couple of questions: As a person who's never used rubber bullet design earbuds, I'm not sure how they feel. Are they comfortable? Is there a significant time lag between something playing on the phone (e.g. YouTube video) and the audio? Overall, how is the design? Do you prefer another kind of wireless earbuds over these? Any help is appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jan 2019 12:19 PM PST I have a Oneplus 5t and have been experiencing some serious bluetooth issues over the past month or so, I believe since the OxygenOS 5.1.7 update. I use bluetooth with my Bose QC 35 Headphones, a UE Megaboom speaker and my car audio. Odd things happen when connected to all bluetooth devices: when the bluetooth first connects, the audio changes as if it started a phone call, OR it will just not play any media through the device and play media audio through the phone's speaker. If it does play audio through the bluetooth device, the fidelity sounds like a phone call when playing music, audiobooks or podcasts. If I turn off bluetooth while connected to my QC 35s, the headphones will say "call disconnected." It's as if the phone forces bluetooth devices into phone audio instead of HD media audio. If I attempt a call, the person i am talking to cannot hear me even though I can hear them. Also, the "Audio Output" option on the notification drop down menu disappears or is generally non-existent until i reboot, which causes it to reappear only temporarily. I have unpaired and re-paired all devices multiple times, rebooted, booted into recovery and cleared cache, enabled developer options and attempted to change the bluetooth audio codec but the selection does not stick, even after a reboot. I do not know what to do outside of a factory reset, which is my last resort. Is anyone else having this issue, or something similar, and have you encountered a fix? I have successfully and painlessly paired all of the same bluetooth devices with my girlfriend's iPhone 7 with no issues. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Orzly v2 and Spigen Rugged case for my OP3T Posted: 03 Jan 2019 07:23 PM PST I saw a YouTube video last night that they fit well on an OP3T. However, I saw some users claiming that they experienced the TG lifting up/bubbles when they install the Spigen Rugged case. Does anyone have experience installing this case and TG to their OP3T? Please take note that the Orzly is V2 which I believed is better than the og Orzly. [link] [comments] |
Is it worth going from 5T to 6T? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 07:01 PM PST Love my 5T. I normally buy every OP T phone but I'm hesitant this time around because the 5T is still a solid phone for me. I don't, however, want to miss out if the 6T is really worth the upgrade. I'm also a bit concerned about losing the notification LED. [link] [comments] |
Where does the built in call recorder on the 6t save to? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 03:12 PM PST After a call I get a notification to open recorder list to check voice record but when I tap it doesn't do anything. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jan 2019 06:54 PM PST So im looking at buying a Oneplus 6, and found this. Other websites are listing it for $770 or more. Has anyone used this before? Anything noticeably suspicious about it? I have used the website before and it seemed to work well... [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to put the brightness slider in under the quick settings? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 08:08 AM PST The problem is that that I have to swipe down twice just to change the brightness. This is even worse for games/videos, I have to swipe down thrice to get to the setting. I've seen that some other phones have it under the quick settings. Is it possible to move the slider there? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 04:30 AM PST Hey, my OnePlus 6T recently restarted randomly while using it. This happened 3 times in 2 days. I just use the phone normally, it starts working(YT video doesn't play, screen doesn't react), the screen turns off and after 5sec or so the phone goes back to the lock screen where i have to type in my pattern to unlock the phone. It's weird that the phone doesn't restart fully but only like half(?): I don't have to type in the PIN for my SIM and it doesn't show the OP logo like on a normal boot. It's also much faster that a regular reboot. When I have to type in the passcode to unlock the phone(face scanner/ fingerprint doesn't work) it says something like: you have to type in your passcode after your phone rebooted and when I unlocked my phone, the OnePlus clock also restarts(first it says never settle, then shows the time) just like after a reboot. Now while writing that, I remember, that I sometimes took my phone out of the pocket and I also had to type in my pattern. So it probably also restarted while being unused. Has someone similar experience or does anybody have an answer for that? It seems like this is a bug in Android Pie(9), that your phone will randomly reboot if you have a private/modified DNS. So turn it off to avoid more random reboots. Also thanks to everybody who helped out. [link] [comments] |
Which version of Google phone so you use and how does it work for you? [6T] Posted: 03 Jan 2019 05:59 PM PST I'm on version 27.0224458979-publicbeta and it's nearly flawless. It lacks the advanced spam blocking and voice mail handling which I don't mind. However it mandates I use dark mode during the day but let's my swap back and forth at night which is kind of annoying. MMS not always downloading the first time Posted: 03 Jan 2019 04:40 PM PST I have a new 6T with Google Fi. Often times someone will send an MMS and about half the time it downloads and displays the content correctly. The other half of the time I get a message saying that it failed to load. So I have to tap the message to retry and then it comes through. It's a minor annoyance but I am not sure if it is an issue with the phone or my service. [link] [comments] |

How about that alacantra for cases right?? Posted: 03 Jan 2019 04:27 PM PST Okay so I have almost every official OnePlus 6t case except the wallet and nylon and I love all of them (sandstone is my favorite) and I use the puregear screen protector with full coverage and 0 problems. Recently my girlfriend's essential phone met it's demise so we got her a Samsung s9 for 400 dollars and I picked up a nano screen protector with uv glue and the Samsung official alacantra case in a light blueish gray color for like 17 bucks. And wow do I love her stuff so much better than mine. The Samsung case is thin, protective, and feels great in the hand PLUS the camera cutout and button are machined aluminum. And the screen protector feels great, is thin, and goes on awesome after the UV light cures the glue. I'm extremely jealous at the detail involved with her accessories that not even OnePlus offers. I would love if OnePlus stepped up for even a single case to give that premium experience like Samsung does (even if it is 50 bucks, I love options). Hopefully with OnePlus's explosion of sales we'll see OnePlus release even better cases for us as customers Tldr: small vent/ rant about cases and screen protectors that OnePlus offers (while good, not perfect) compared to Samsung. Posted: 03 Jan 2019 03:26 PM PST After updating to Pie, my Oneplus 5 screen seems to have lost much of it's brightness. In 8.x I had a well enough lit screen at around 30-35%, but now it seems like I have to put the brightness at 50-60% to achieve the same brightness. It seems to downgrade my battery life as well, my screen battery usage is higher than before. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jan 2019 02:41 PM PST Hi reddit, Lately my idle drain has increased drastically, the only thing I installed was GCam via xda-developers but nothing else I can think off. My idle drain is about 1% per hour with everything but location and wifi off. Before this was happening my idle drain was about 1% per 3 hours. I also noticed my battery draining quicker than normal, seems like the battery life is way shorter compared to when I just got the phone which was only last week. Please let me know what I can do to improve battery life (idle drain and overall use) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jan 2019 08:40 AM PST Hi, I was told OP ran out of 3T's, so I'm offered a OP5 as a replacement and I'm really worried because of all the things I've been reading about camera quality on here. Was any of this fixed and is the OP5 camera now on par with the 3T? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jan 2019 01:42 PM PST I don't get many phone calls, but a large percentage of the calls I do get, they aren't making connection. The caller dials me, I answer and it's dead silence. On their end, the phone keeps ringing and ringing over and over. If I toggle airplane mode, I can usually receive the next call (not 100% sure if this fixes it, I only tested once and it did). Calls seem to be the only problem... sms/mms are not an issue. I'm on Verizon prepaid. Anyone else having similar problems? [link] [comments] |
