Sd card erased everything over night

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 06:13 PM PST

Hi, here's the long version: I'm working on a video for robotics, and I've recorded all the scenes. I was editing them last night, and left the sd card with the videos on it plugged into the computer all night. This morning I turned on my computer. I noticed it took a while to turn on, but it did eventually. It had a few black loading screens but I assumed it was an update or something. All I did was cram type a paper, and then rush out the door, computer still on. When I came home, the computer was still on (even though it should have turned off eventually). I opened my editing software and soon found out that all of my footage, including everything else on the sd card (1,000 or more photos including my only copy of my Grand Canyon shots) were all gone I've tried a recovery software, which acknowledge the files presences, but couldn't recover them I also found that my camera says the storage is there, but it can't see it. I also got a notepad document in my camera files speaking of some "unrecoverable error" in the folder, which I can type out if needed

Hi: here's the short version My sd card deleted everything. The files are still there, but not viewable. The storage says they're there but file explorer says their gone

Any and all help is appreciated:)

Got a blue screen error, all apps that were opened when the error happened can't connect to internet.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 02:58 AM PST

Was playing a game while listening to music and talking in discord. Friend asks me to screenshare and the moment I click the screenshare button in discord I get a blue screen of death. I restart the PC, everything seems to work fine, but the apps I had running now can't connect to the internet (Spotify, Discord, Steam). I tried deleting the apps and reinstalling them, but the installers still can't connect to the internet. Any ideas on how to fix this? I really want to use those apps again :(

PC will not shutdown fully. Windows 10

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 02:38 AM PST

I've been having this issue for a while now and it seems to be getting worse. My computer will not shutdown fully, the fans and LEDs stay on.

This used to be a rare thing and now it happens almost every shutdown. I have tried disabling hybrid shutdown and I have even bought a new PSU.

    I think I tried a few other things I can't remember, but it's certain they didn't work.

I'm thinking it could be my motherboard or maybe the extension cable my PC is plugged into (nothing else is on the extension). Any help would be appreciated.

    C: full, can't extend storage

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 02:33 AM PST

Hi, i'm having some issues with one laptop in our business and I can't find a way to solve it. The C: disk from the user is completly full and I have a D: partition which is almost empty and another one completly empty.

I can't find a way to take this free space and give it to the C: partition or even to reduce the D: space to give the C: some rest.

    How would you do it?

Here's a screenshot in case I didn't explain myself correctly.

    SSD problems

    Here are my UserBenchmarks:

So, for a reason it appears that my SSD is underperforming terribly. I was alright with it just until now since it was a bit faster than my mechanical HD (which I haven't plugged in once after setting up the SSD) but my PC literally got stuck on the Windows booting screen a few minutes ago and that's just so infuriating.

Have I done something wrong while setting my SSD up guys? I'm really desperate here, hope someone can help...

    Sync devices to PC

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:54 PM PST

Is there an app that automatically downloads files from all my devices through wifi into my hard drive on my PC? Also if there is an app that does the same thing but does it through the internet (Android > Google Drive > PC, something like this) would be the most ideal if there is one

Really weird problem: Only one monitor is working at a time, but both monitors are definitely working.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:32 PM PST

I left home to run some errands and when I came back on turned on my PC my secondary monitor wasn't working. Weird, so I messed around with the cables and when I power cycled, the secondary monitor turned on but the primary monitor didn't. It's just black. What's going on?

Both monitors use HDMI but not the same type of HDMI so I cant swap test cables. Using a GTX1080 GPU

    Weird audio stuttering/lag in Rainbow6Siege.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:25 PM PST

Okay. First of all, sorry if there is a more appropriate sub for this. I got no help on the rainbow 6 sub.

This started happening a few days ago in game. After a round ends, it lags out and the audio become all crackly and weird sounding. As a result, I can never get the op I want to play and it's generally annoying me.

The game itself is on an ssd. Any help?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 12:34 AM PST

I just turned my pc on and I got a message "We can't sign into your account" so I restarted the computer and then showed "Welcome. This might take several minutes." and after that my pc just started to glitch. Video showing the problem: https://youtu.be/xs4J8Ir-hF4 I also tried to bring up task manager but there was nothing and I couldn't even do anything it was not clickable. I restarted the pc several times (CTRL-SHIFT-DEL) but it didn't fix the problem. Is it possible to fix, without losing any data (Have tons of After effects projects and a homework for today rip, also some really important files)? My computer is still under warranty.

ipad won't turn on after water damage

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 04:16 PM PST

My ipad was damaged by water. Its condition was probably worsened after I attempted to use it while there was water in it. I only used it for a few minutes before the battery went dead. I then let it dry for about 3 hours before plugging it back in. It turned back on, but wouldn't charge any further and so went dead again. I then pulled it out of the charger and let it dry for 2 days. After that I plugged it back in. When I plug it in it makes the charging sound but it doesn't turn on. I have tried holding the home and lock button simultaneously with no success. I plugged it into a laptop with itunes and restored it and it still hasn't turned on.

Is my ipad permanently damaged or is there anything else I can do?

    General CPU Questions

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:10 PM PST

I have a few questions. Is Intel and AMD then only people who make CPU's or are they just the main people to? When it says for example 3.4 GHz speed, what speed is that referring to? refresh rate? And what do the cores do? Also when you look at a CPU such as the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, what does the 2700X stand for? Is it just a model number or does it refer to how fast it is or something like that? Thanks for the help (trying to familiarize myself with PC's)

How am I at 94% memory usage with one chrome tab open on reddit?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:24 PM PST

I'm so fed up that I'm thinking about returning this computer. I've tried disabling Windows Defender, tried re-enabling, downloaded an entirely separate anti virus and nothing has worked. I'm beginning to get disheartened because after using my Computer for a little while it will be at 95-99% memory usage even though I didn't increase usage. Device is a i5 Surface laptop 2. I've asked this so many times in multiple different subreddits yet never get a useful response. I can't even google it because I have no clue wtf the problem is. With what Task Manager is showing me I don't see how I am at 94% usage.

    HP Deskjet printer annoying notifications

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 03:49 AM PST

Just bought HP Deskjet 2632 and am pleased with performance but there is annoyance. I'm getting invasive notifications from HP that don't even show up on PC, they just print. If I want to print something, forced notification jumps ahead and setbacks my prints. Messages from HP brief me about updates and device usage suggestions. I have installed just basic software and drivers from their official page.

Is it possible to turn notifications off or at least get them to show on computer only?

I can manually remap on my games and other software but that would be a looot of work

    Any ideas?

Shady line appears to the screen when Windows 10 starts up

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 03:47 AM PST

    Hi!

I have had this problem for few days now. When I start my computer, and Windows starts up, a faded line appears to the top of my screen. Some times it's almost invisible, but when I put some grayish background on, it shows up pretty clearly. The line doesn't appear when Windows is loading (loading screen) or in the bios. Also, the line doesn't appear in screenshots.

    The things I have done:

    - Cleared my whole computer case, especially my GPU with vacuum and pressured air.

    - Done clear install of new drivers for GPU

    - Done system file check up

    - Done all malware and register clearing

    - Removed and installed all the cables

What this can be? Help me out if you can, thank you!

microstuttering with 4 monitors, but not 3.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 03:35 AM PST

    MSI MS7B86

    AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-Core, 3200mhz

    ZOTAC GTX1080

    16gigs RAM

Monitors found here (VG248 is the main) - https://gyazo.com/25d0104b02ebf97cf65e21916060fee6

I'll try to be brief, but as detailed as possible:

Basically, my system works fine if I have 3 monitors plugged in. As soon as a 4th in hooked up - I begin to get microstuttering in games and video playback (Twitch/YouTube). It does not matter which monitor is plugged or unplugged, as long as its only 3 -- the stuttering goes away. As seen in the screenshot, they are all set at 144mhz and the same resolution.

When gaming, I am using one monitor for the game and the other 3 (2 I guess since that works?) as supplementary monitors. Weather something is running on another screen or not does not effect the stuttering, it is there every 5-10 seconds no matter what.

When viewing Twitch or YouTube - it doesn't matter which monitor I am viewing on, all stutter if 4 are plugged in. Each monitor works fine if only 3.

Currently the main monitor is hooked up with DVI and the other 3 are DP. I have swapped these around in all different ways including throwing an HDMI in there just to see. Nothing changed.

I have tried setting the main monitor to 120mhz with the others at 60mhz or 59mhz as per the internet's suggestion - no change. I have also tried setting all monitors to 60mhz, 59mhz, etc. for science - no change. I've messed around with lower resolutions as well - nothing.

I have fiddled with 3D settings in NVIDIA control panel but I'm not sure thats a big deal since this happens with non-gaming video playback as well. Have turned VSync on, off, adaptive, and fast.

AfterBurner / System Performance do not show anything odd in terms of usage. Note: I installed Afterburner to monitor, this was happening before it was installed and after uninstall.

Windows is up to date (this is a fresh install of windows). GPU Drivers are up to date (and I've reinstalled and tried older drivers for kicks as well).

I've messed with the orientation in windows display as well (physical set up is 3 across 1 on top). Dunno why that would make a difference, but I tried it. Nothing.

Plugging one monitor into the MOBO doesn't seem to do anything.

I've read that this is just a thing that can happen with NVIDIA and Windows, but those posts are from 2-3 years ago. I'm assuming this has been fixed by now (I hope...).

Could the GPU just not be enough? If so, I get why it would effect games, but why would effect video playback on Twitch or YouTube? (Also, I've turned hardware acceleration on and off in Chrome because the internet said to try that. Didn't do anything).

I'm open to any and all further suggestions.
