Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:34 PM PDT Moto Z2 Force. When I start typing a number into the Dialer I receive suggestions from my contacts. I used to have a phone that would give me suggestions from my recently called list also.(Sorry I cant remember which phone). Is there a way to get this functionality on my current phone? It was very useful to me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 11:05 AM PDT How do I root my Huawei P9 Lite? Is it legal?I've already installed adb on my computer and I'm just a bit experimenting. But every now and then, I run into the "permission denied error". After a bit of research, I discovered that I needed to root my phone. How do I do that? Is there a legal way ? I have heard of King Root, but it isn't powerful enough, from what I heard, to make major changes. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to invert colors on Android just as on iOS? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:52 PM PDT Recently I saw in a friend's mobile phone that iOS has a feature of "Invert colors (smart)", and once you enable it the background turns dark and foreground white (as well as a night mode). Well, I've tried enabling this feature in the Accessibility on Android but likely it's experimental instead of smart, and inverts the colors of the images too (turns them to negative colors)... Independent Screen Sharing App Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:07 PM PDT I need to control my phone from PC, via browser or VNC, mirroring the phone display on PC, and using the PC's keyboard / mouse to control the phone. The requirements are simple:

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 09:34 PM PDT How does the Pixel 2's battery life stack up? For heavy and normal usage, how much SOT could one get? This is the smaller Pixel, by the way. I'm aware that the bigger guy has great battery life. [link] [comments] |
Redirecting Ads when screen is off Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:58 AM PDT I've seen this issue talked about a few times on here, but i can't seem to find a concrete answer. Once in a while, I'll hear audio from my phone that says: "Warning, your Android video player is outdated." After a few seconds, my phone will automatically be redirected to the play store and show the download page for the world's shadiest "Video Player" app. It doesn't auto download. This hasn't happened in about a week, but today it happened three times, back to back, and with my screen off the first time. I've seen some say it's a malicious ad campaign, and others say it could be malware and that a full flash is required to overwrite the system files. I don't know which is true - but i do know that it is incredibly frustrating to be woken up at 2:30 in the morning to the sound of this nonsense. Can anyone give me any more information on this? If it's a malicious ad campaign, should i just disable chrome for the time being? If it's malware (somehow), should i just go and flash the stock rom? I'm running a 6 month old S9+ with the latest firmware. No malicious apps installed, no prior issues. Google Photos Movie Maker processing for months Posted: 03 Oct 2018 05:01 PM PDT Since August any movie slideshow that I make (Auto Awesome) in Photos never completes. I have one that I made in August that still shows processing. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
How to screen mirror chrome incognito tab? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 04:59 PM PDT I can mirror everything from Android phone to TV except chrome incognito tabs, which appear black. Googling this issue says I should enable a flag in chrome://extensions - but I cannot because such a page does not exist! Help please! Android 7.0 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:40 PM PDT I think this would be even better than a send delay as it requires you to confirm multiple times thats what you want to send. I would certainly like to do that so i don't mix texts that go people i do not want to receive them accidentally. Even better if you can set a delay between the first tap and the next confirmation taps for it to allow it to send You could also set the required number of taps at an arbitrarly high number if you want to really try to prevent yourself from texting someone [link] [comments] |
Imaging phone to preserve apps, but not sensitive data like texts Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:26 PM PDT Hi, all, I'm not too knowledgeable about Android internals, but I am a programmer for a living. I'm in a situation where I need to image one phone to multiple other phones, keeping all the apps that a very small company uses. Would there be a way to make an image of one of those phones and use it to apply to the other phones, without restoring sensitive information like texts and user data? It's my impression that these are all preserved together. Sorry if this is vague, but here's a short diagram: Phone A (apps, credentials, texts) -> Phones B, C, D (apps, but no credentials or texts from Phone A). Preferably this would be through a lower level solution such as adb or a recovery image, and not a separate app or service. We don't mind a little effort, but would like to minimize it a bit. For the record, all the models are the same, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (mido). Thanks much! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:02 PM PDT Is there any way to block some notifications but not others? For example, App Permissions keep saying its detected snapchat using the camera but like duh that is what it is for however id be very interested to know if something like my email client using the camera/mic. Any way to say snap is continually allowed to use the camera without notifying me? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 03:02 PM PDT I just updated android on my Samsung xcover4, now a bunch of apps don't work ( ie. Crashing when I open them) including discord, as well as my messages app. I'm on the verge of getting a new phone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 02:30 PM PDT I'm very new to the Android ecosytem, so I apologize if this is a silly question. I'm wanting to get my wife and I smart watches, but I'm not thrilled with the Galaxy watch's omission of FB messenger and WhatsApp. I'm stuck with my iPhone for a few more months and our primary way to communicate is WhatsApp. I cannot send SMS. If I get something other than the Galaxy, will it have full functionality with her Note 8? I know I'll have limited functionality. I'm hoping to get a Pixel when I'm done with my iPhone. Are the Pixel and Galaxy watch fully compatible? Are there other messaging options for the Galaxy that would allow her to see my notifications? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How do sign out of apps connected my credit card? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:33 AM PDT When I try to sign out of Google Play or my Google Account it says that the only way to sign out of it is to remove your account from it. If I remove my account everything will get deleted including my contacts, calendar & all of my notes. My google account is connected to Google Play, Play Books, Play Music ect. My worry is that God forbid I loose my phone and someone finds it, they can rank up my credit card buying things. My account is linked to my PayPal, all they would have to do is press buy. How can I solved this so that no one can get into my account? Is there a way to sign in & sign out so that your personal information can be safe from others to see? [link] [comments] |

Android phone to replace my Moto Z Play Posted: 03 Oct 2018 04:55 PM PDT Hey I currently have moto z play android phone. The battery is really good, the phone itself is of nice build...my only problem is mediocre camera. I've also had this phone for 2 years and I want to change it with something else because I've gotten a little bored of it. So i've been looking at OG Pixel, the camera is great, not sure about performance but I think it's easily on the same level as moto z play. I know the battery is worse than on my moto but I can live with that. So my question is, is Pixel still worth buying now? I can get if from Amazon for ~300 euros If you have any other android suggestions up to 350€ i'll consider them. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:00 AM PDT I've used Android phones for years, so I'm familiar with the OS updating, but this has now happened to me twice in two months: my phone installs a major OS update, restarts, but asks for my PIN and so cannot restart. My alarms then don't go off (the first time I almost missed a flight, this time I almost missed work). Neither time did I approve the update. This has never happened to me before. Previously, in order to install an OS update I would be presented with the option to install or not install; if I chose 'do not install' it would (sometimes insistently) remind me, but it never auto-installed the update. I sometimes would delay the updates weeks (until I had a chance to backup my phone in case the update went badly). I've had this phone for about two years and this has never happened before. The first time this happened was on August 18th; I knew there was an update available but I had been careful to not install it specifically because I didn't want any changes to happen to my phone before this big trip I was taking. I had been presented with the update option for a day or two. The second time this happened was this morning, October 3rd. I did not even know there was an update available this time - nothing had prompted me to install it. Phone and carrier information: Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T) Android version: 8.0.0 Carrier: T-Mobile, but both times I was roaming in Canada on Bell and connected to WiFi. I really want to figure out how to stop these auto-updates. Because I use encryption, the updates don't complete without me typing in my PIN. This makes it impossible to rely on my phone as an alarm clock because these auto-updates have happened twice now. Two possibilities I've thought of:

Aggressive Adware? Ads completely unprompted out of any apps are constantly popping up! Posted: 03 Oct 2018 03:03 PM PDT I don't know how and I don't know why but I'm having ads aggressively popping up on my phone. Two or three at a time, not in any particular app. At some point adware must have made it's way in my phone. How do I get rid of this garbage? [link] [comments] |
