TIL Shift + Right Click on a file gives you the option to, "Copy as path" Posted: 01 Oct 2018 08:15 AM PDT I wish this was just part of a standard right click, but I'm glad to have found it. My "quick way" prior was to right click, rename, select the entire name of the file, paste it to the end of the current path with explorer, and then copy the whole path to the file... for my pasting convenience. Copy as path just gets it done. Maybe I'm an idiot for never having used this before, regardless, YAY! [link] [comments]
Changing the function of the shift key? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:11 AM PDT This might seem an odd request but i'm not really sure where else to ask. For pretty much all keyboards, to type a capital letter, one must hold down the shift-key simultaneously with the key that is to be capitalised. This has always struck me as a slightly awkward way of typing. On android (and I think iOS as well), capitalisation is achieved by simply tapping the shift-key and then tapping desired letter straight after, without the hand gymnastics of pressing both keys a the same time. A am not a computer person but any response would be welcome. Cheers! [link] [comments]
What security changes do you make on your Windows 10 (For home use not business) Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:07 PM PDT Hi All, So I am looking for some tips on configuring Windows 10 at home with a bit better security. My version is W10Pro x64 So using things like bitlocker or what else do you do to make your build more secure? Many Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:01 PM PDT I've been trying to find a solution for this for a long time but it seems to impossible, yet sounds so simple. I'm willing to buy something to create this effect if needed. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Does anybody know when the new October update for Windows 10 gets released? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 05:36 PM PDT I hope that it's two weeks from now. But I don't really know. And do you think that it's even being close to being released? [link] [comments]
Mic not working in games after windows reset and update Posted: 01 Oct 2018 11:02 AM PDT Hello, so my microphone doesn't seem to work in any games after I reset and updated windows. This was when they introduced the privacy feature, but I have everything enabled. It works fine in discord and blizzard voice, but everywhere else it pretty much doesn't work. [link] [comments]
Windows Update Download Folder Posted: 01 Oct 2018 04:30 PM PDT I have a downloaded update, ready to install, called "NETGEAR Inc. - Network - NETGEAR WG111v2 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter". I don't want to install this and wish to delete it. Is it safe to delete all of the contents of the 'Download' folder in the SoftwareDistribution folder (including the 'AM_Delta.exe" file)? Thank you. [link] [comments]

.cfg file type not found in Windows 10 (Clean install) Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:09 PM PDT Hey all, so I recently built my first PC (yay) and I've gotten everything up and running, however I have a minor hitch going on involving the file type .cfg, it doesn't exist apparently ;-; . It can't be found in the choose default app by file type page or in the registry, what gives? My last computer had .cfg recognized all fine and dandy and it's just *poof* gone. Any help please? Free notetaking program in windows 10 for a touchscreen computer? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:14 AM PDT I need an app like scrble for windows 10. It's mainly for maths which is why scrble isn't too good. Only ruled paper. Anyone know of any other programs like that? Thanks [link] [comments]
Can't update - error 0x8024a206 Posted: 01 Oct 2018 01:07 PM PDT I've just noticed that I'm way behind in updates for Windows 10. They're all for different things (i.e. Defender definition updates, feature updates, updates for Windows 10 1709 for x64 systems), but the one thing they all have in common is the error code: 0x8024a206. Anyone know what this error is? I did a Google search and came up empty. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Oct 2018 12:51 PM PDT Last year I bypassed my schools restrictions on the desktops which run windows 7 by booting from a win7 install disk but this year when I try to boot from it the bios freezes for some reason although I've tried it on a different desktop and it worked but it had a different bios. I asked my schools IT department about it and they had no idea why but I think the polices change by them selves but I think that is just for the chromebooks which also also bypassed the restrictions on. Question regarding updating apps Posted: 01 Oct 2018 09:16 AM PDT So with the launch of Forza Horizon 4 I'm preparing to download it and I remember an issue I had with Forza Horizon 3. I used Fiddler and Internet Download Manager to grab the .appx file and used PowerShell to install it, but, after a few months the game had updated and I would get the message that the game is out of date. My question is, were the servers down at that moment or do Windows Store apps install through a non-conventional way actually auto-update or not? [link] [comments]
Cant find to enable virtualization on my Gigabyte bios. Help! Posted: 01 Oct 2018 07:27 AM PDT I saw a vid on youtube which was a year ago with the same bios as my gigabyte: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86zuELGMM9M The video as explained the SVM mode can be found in the "Advance frequency Settings"> "Advanced Core CPU Settings">"SVM Mode" As you can see on my screenshots, there are so many settings in there and i couldn't find it, there isn't really an SVM settings in my bios. On the Chipset on the video shown, it's called "IOMMU" to be enabled but in mine it's called "VT-d" so i had to enabled it (im not sure if its the right thing) I badly need help from experts to view on this. The purpose of this was to use the virtualization enabled so i will have a smooth game play using my android emulator. my specs: [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Oct 2018 04:37 AM PDT Hi all - Just wanted to see if anyone here has any experience redirecting the desktop to have users save directly to the server. Currently in our environment we are directing their MyDocuments folder, but we dont want to lose any desktop items when we offboard them. Someone suggested here we have the desktop items redirected to the server, but there were many questions. For instance, if the machine is used offline will it sync when it comes back on the domain? Just looking for anyone who has set this up, or supports this setup, and any issues they may have come across - Thanks all. [link] [comments] |
