Just upgraded to S9 Plus! Any recommendations on cases or screen protectors?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2018 04:52 AM PDT

    Hey Reddit!

So I just upgraded my plan from an S7 edge to an S9 plus (including 26gb of data and only £20 upfront cost for £45 per month!) - and am looking for any recommendations for a case and potentially a screen protector..

A case is 100% required, but what is the consensus with screen protectors? On my s7 edge I had spigen cases but never found a screen protector that doesnt get pushed up on the edges. Given this is another curved screen im guessing the same issue applies - and I dont fancy paying a vast amount for a screen protector...

    Any advice!

Question about USB-C headphones on Galaxy S8+

    Posted: 29 Oct 2018 07:01 AM PDT

I recently bought the Google Pixel Usb-C headphones for my S8+. They sound great and everything seems to work, but I can't use them to answer phone calls, or speak through them during a call. Is there a setting that I can change or a program I can download to use them with?

    Adding to Samsung Music Playlist

    Posted: 29 Oct 2018 06:50 AM PDT

I just got a new phone and I'm remaking all of my playlists on the Samsung Music App. I noticed that now it adds the selected songs to the top of the playlist rather than the end of the playlist, like how it used to be. Is there a way to change this, because it's really annoying.

    Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2018 with S-Pen

    Posted: 29 Oct 2018 05:46 AM PDT

    Hi,

Do you know if there is a 2018 version of Galaxy Tab A with S-Pen? In case not, is the 2018 version ready to be used with S-Pen if I buy one by my own?

Samsung Notes using an alarming amount of disk space until data is cleared

    Posted: 29 Oct 2018 05:42 AM PDT

    Hi guys!

I just recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, and I've been loving it so far. I've especially enjoyed Samsung notes, because you can search your own handwriting, and that is just amazing. However, I have stumbled onto a problem.

The issue is that the size of Samsung notes is getting out of proportion. At times, it is taking up 5 to 6 GB of data. To me, this seemed really quite crazy, so I decided to sync all the notes to Samsung Cloud, and then just delete all the notes from my device. After deleting all the notes on the device, I then re-synced it again from the cloud, and the data that it took up was just 900 MB (the actual size on the cloud was ~500 MB).

Is there any way to prevent Samsung Notes from growing to such an alarming size (other than the method that I have described right now)? Also, is there a way to archive old notes to your SD card or something? I have no problems with archiving old notes, but there does not seem to be an option to do so whatsoever. Currently, the size of my Samsung Notes app is at ~1.89GB, and the size in the Samsung Cloud is around around 470 MB.

I can certainly understand Notes trying to create indexes on files for faster search, but when you start getting over 6 GB of disk usage for an actual 470 MB of notes, something feels fishy.

I have seen similar issues with the older version of Samsung Notes, called S Notes. Can anyone shed some light into this matter? Is there a better alternative then just deleting and syncing? Also, is this a bug and are the Notes team working on this, or has it even been brought to their attention?

I do realize there are a lot of questions here, but I'd like to get a better understanding of the situation at hand. It turns out that the 32 GB version of the Tab S3 only has around 20 GB of disk space that you get to use, so I don't even know how many notes I can keep.

Ive had my galaxy s8 for over a year and I've finally decided to root it. I looked at all the tutorials on what to do and it requires OEM unlock but that dosnt show up for me in developer options. What do i do? I dont want to factory reset my phone because that would suck :(

I really need a new phone and in my country the s8 is 30% cheaper than the s9. Is there any major changes between the two? Also: how long can I expect to receive support for the s8?

    Bluetooth headphones aren't working right.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2018 09:01 PM PDT

My son has a Samsung 10 inch Galaxy Tab A, that has been a pretty solid device for him for a couple years. For his graduation in April, he got a set of Cowin E7 headphones from my mother. These turned out to be defective, and I Cowin replaced them with E7 pro. I paired the bluetooth to the headphones, and everything works as expected until the headphones get turned off. When they are turned back on, they don't automatically connect, but will connect if I go into the bluetooth settings, where it is still listed as paired, and manually connect them.

I tried contacting Cowin through Amazon, and they are not very helpful. The one sentence response I got was "No, you need to repair", which makes no sense in the context of my email to them. I did unpair and pair again, and I got the same results with the tablet. I replied to them, but I'm a bit pessimistic about where this is heading.

It appears to be an issue with the combination of tablet and headphones, as when I connect the E7 to my Note 8, it works as expected when I turn off, and turn on the E7. I also have an AOMAIS speaker that works as expected on the tablet.

It may seem like a small issue, but my son has cerebral palsey, along with an intellectual disability, so I want these to work as smoothly as possible for him. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or know of some obscure setting in the tablet that may be causing this?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Why are Samsung's icons so different from each other?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2018 08:40 AM PDT

Why are Samsung's icons so different from each other?

Let's take a look at this screenshot I made. All of these apps are made by Samsung (ignore bottom row's Play Store)

    https://i.redd.it/lkys5bu34yu11.jpg

I've highlighted different apps and explained the design inconsistencies with them. Even looking on the bottom row, you can see an obvious irregularity: The Phone icon is a completely different style from Messages. Contacts and My Files are slightly different shades of orange, while Gallery is a gradient orange.

Extremely basic things like consistent app icons are what give Apple an easy way to claim superior design. And I love my Galaxy S9, but these are basic things that are completely in Samsung's control, it would take at most a few hours for 1 graphic designer to make the icons consistent (I'd prefer the gradient design I highlighted in green), and Samsung would have a much better looking UI.

Samsung S7 stuck in Odin mode, won't charge.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2018 11:17 PM PDT

My phone was dying so I plugged it in and it said moisture detected. So I tried another charger and it kept trying to connect me to Gear VR, which I have never used. It still wouldn't charge. So then my phone died, I plugged it in and left it alone for a bit and when I came back it was in Odin mode. I got it out of Odin mode and it got to the point where I verified my pattern and it showed the unlocking animation, then it went black and never came back on. When I plugged it back in, it went into Odin mode again. Repeated actions, this time it showed the unlocking animation then it popped up letting me know my phone was at zero percent. It died again and went back into Odin mode, all while still on the charger.

Is this an internal error or will the issue resolve once it's charged, assuming I can get it to charge? I really don't want to lose all my data on my phone.

Edit: Just tried another charger, just in case. It's going back and forth between beginning the charging animation, and vibrating to let me know there's moisture detected. No Odin mode this time, but still won't charge.

I have an S7 Edge at android 7.0, should i update my firmware?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2018 09:00 PM PDT

I heard that some android phones, mostly older ones, get slower after a system update, and i love smooth gaming on here... idk what i'd end up downloading if i confirmed the install, and idk how it could affect the performance of my phone.

Right now it's nice and snappy, only lags a little when something is downloading. My music games are hell to properly calibrate though.... my biggest gripe about the phone.

I appreciate any help with this, i just want to know if it's a good idea or not really, and if the pros outweigh the cons.
