Ram doesn’t run in dual channel Posted: 30 Oct 2018 12:34 PM PDT I have 2 8GB sticks of 3000mHz and they worked perfectly fine in dual channel with my old processor (R3 1300X). I upgraded to a R5 2600 and now I only get 8GB if used in dual channel. I was using the BIOS release from May of this year. I am using a B350 Tomahawk Plus from MSI, and when I first built this computer their suggested slot (A2) would give no output, but the PC would boot. When put in the first slot (A1) the PC would boot. The only problem is now is when I run the ram in dual channel the BIOS only detects 8GB but the Task Manager and CPU-Z both detect 16GB, only that Task Manager says that 8GB is "Hardware Reserved" When put in single channel, it works just fine, and not that many problems occur. Also, another thing is that I cannot overclock the ram while in dual channel, but I have yet to try overclocking in single channel. Anybody have any ideas? I do believe this is a problem on MSI's end as not a single other BIOS past May of this year fixes this. [link] [comments]

Brookstone cat headphones- new aux needed Posted: 29 Oct 2018 09:59 PM PDT I got a nice pair of Brookstone cat ear headphones from my brother after he got them as a gift for his girlfriend, but broke up with her before gifting them. Total score (for me). But it's just been a headache recently because the aux cord gave out on me, which wouldn't be a huge problem except that I'm horrible with technology. I'll put this into example because I'm not sure how else to explain it with my tiny pea brain; I like to play on the Xbox with my good ol' pals. This headset has one input for a mic and another right next to it for the aux cord. I've tried to use a regular old aux cord connected to my controller and the headset, and I can hear audio from the Xbox just fine, but no one can hear my mic. I think the other aux cord that's broken now was like a two way, it could do both. Brookstone doesn't sell the aux cords separately and I'd hate to buy a whole 'nother pair. I also would prefer not to use an aux cord with a mic attached to it, and I promise I have done lots of digging. There's lots of similar questions with no answers, and aux cords with no definitive proof that they work like the old one did. I'm thinking maybe the answer is right under my nose but I'm too blind to see it. Thank you guys for your help! [link] [comments]

Laptop keeps powering self on after shutdown? (2018 Vega 15", post-repaste) Posted: 29 Oct 2018 04:51 PM PDT Hi all, So I recently repasted my 2018 HP Spectre X360 Vega and it seemed to all go well, except now whenever I power down my machine (using Windows shutdown or booted into Linux "shutdown" command), the laptop powers itself back on after about 5 seconds of being powered off. Things I've ruled out:
Is there anything else I'm not considering? I've opened the machine up again and I'm not seeing anything that's obviously disconnected or damaged. The only way I can get it to stay shut down is to hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Then it stays off. Thanks for any tips. [link] [comments]
