Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:10 PM PDT it all started around the time that i opened a link to a google drive file. these full screen ads will pop up no matter where i am on the phone. the camera, the settings app, and so on. i've tried tinkering with all of the privacy settings, the ad settings, chrome settings, etc. nothing is helping. these ads are adsense ads (from what i've seen) and are relentless. please help edit: solved! check my comment [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 08:14 PM PDT Any idea? It's annoying during conversation having to walk across the room to adjust volume when normally I could just use the volume buttons on my phone. Running the latest Android for the Note 8. I can turn the volume to zero and it cuts the sound, bit otherwise no volume control. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:53 PM PDT TL;DR: Run XPosed modules in a virtual environment inside an APK, without needing to root! Link to site: https://vxposed.com Xda links with explanations: https://www.xda-developers.com/virtualxposed-xposed-modules-without-root/ Explanation by an Xposed module developer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76701693&postcount=70 Dev analysis: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/development/virtualxposed-analysis-module-t3800947 Found this last night. I'm so hyped, figured I was going to be unable to use Xposed stuff for a long time until LG finally unlocks the bootloader for my G7+ or the community provides an unofficial unlock. But thankfully after a lot of searching, I found this! I wanted to share, because i only found this after a lot of hunting, surprisingly information related to this app seems to be scarce. Messages App constantly Crashing since Pie update Posted: 02 Oct 2018 12:55 PM PDT My messages app crashes frequently when I'm engaged in group texts since the Pie update. Messages fail to download as well. I find them later when I open a thread with one of the individual participants. Then I have to manually download them. They often expire or download and appear out of order back in the group text. Additionally sending messages often fails in these group texts and or can take a long time to send. Then the app crashes repeatedly. Has anyone else seen this or have any advice? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Is there a way to selectively upload pictures at original quality to Google photos? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 07:33 PM PDT My wife's pixel 2 broke and she wanted an s9 instead since it has a headphone jack. Well now she doesn't have unlimited uploads to Google photos. She wants to selectively upload full quality to Google photos for the "good" pictures but upload everything else at the high quality so it doesn't cost anything space in her Google account. Is there a way to do this? I couldnt find anything in the app or searching. [link] [comments] |
Phone ringing even on silent mode Posted: 02 Oct 2018 02:28 PM PDT Hey guys! My phone does this weird thing where if it's on silent and connected to my Bluetooth speakers, it'll still ring - not only ring on phone but also play through speakers really loudly. There's nothing I could find online and no option to deselect phone audio, the only option is media audio for the speakers. This has been happening for the past few months but my patience has finally run out with a 2am call. Any help would be appreciated! Phone: OnePlus 3 OS: Android 8.0.0 running Oxygen 5.0.5 Thanks! [PIE] How to remove carrier names from status bar ? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 10:53 PM PDT Is there any way to remove the carrier labels from the status bar? My Carrier label is too long and its scrolling sideways, its an annoyance tbh. Is there way to hide it ? I'm on a Nokia 7 Plus running on Pie. [link] [comments] |
Mystery System Process "PcoReceiver"? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 10:35 PM PDT My wife has a Moto E4 Plus running Android 7.1.1. Our carrier is Ting. She's not running very many apps on the phone, she's on Wi-Fi 90% of the time, and somehow her phone is consuming ~100MB per month through a process called "PcoReceiver." In the Cellular Data Usage list, PcoReceiver is a process listed under "Android OS." PcoReceiver claims to be using this data in the foreground, not the background. When I go into the Apps menu and show system processes, PcoReceiver shows up. It occupies 16kb of storage, 1% of battery use, 2.2MB average memory usage, and it is always running. I cannot disable or force stop the application. Another thing I noticed is that when I check the PcoReceiver memory usage, it shows me the memory usage for a service called com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel, which seems to be a process linked to the default Android messaging app (which I have disabled, as we use Textra for messaging). For personal reasons I'm trying to get our data usage down below 100MB per month, but this app/process seems determined to thwart that plan. I'd be happy if I could even cut the app's data usage in half. Shockingly, a Google search for the term "PcoReceiver" returns only 2 results, so I'm sort of stuck for advice. Does anyone have any idea what PcoReceiver is? Why it seems entirely unknown to Google? How I might be able to get the app to stop using so much data, or why I might want to leave it alone? Thanks in advance for any insight! [link] [comments] |

Xbox elite controller+OTG adapter=doesn't work Posted: 02 Oct 2018 09:21 PM PDT Saw a whole bunch of videos that its suppose to be plug-n-play. Well not for me. I can feel my controller vibrate when I connect it to my galaxy s6, but nothing else is happening. Light doesnt come on on the controller, cant navigate home screen, nothing. I dont think my device HAS to be rooted. Do I have to mess with setting in developer options? Faulty otg? What is it that wont let me play Guns of Boom with a controller? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to use a tablet as a phone screen? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 08:42 PM PDT My wife and I play a lot of phone games and i was thinking about buying us a tablet so we have a bigger screen to play them on. The problem is, I don't want to drop a lot of money on expensive hardware when I already have an S9+ - I just want to plug the phone into a larger tablet screen and use that screen instead of the phone's screen, like plugging a different monitor into a laptop. Is that possible at all? And cheaper than buying a tab S3/S4? [link] [comments] |
I want to use an old phone as a security camera. But the batteries explode. Posted: 02 Oct 2018 08:36 PM PDT I have done this before, I know what software to use etc and I know the downsides. But I have two phones not being used and 2 lines not being used that have unlimited data. I need a security camera in a remote building and the phone and unlimited data are perfect for this. However, obviously phones have a finite battery life, if left on battery they eventually die, so you have to charge them, but if you leave them on charge too long, especially if it is running a software that is keeping the screen on, the phone battery eventually bloats, then dies. What I am looking for is a software that will allow the phone to charge up to X%, then stop charging until the phone gets to the lower limit I set ofX% and then start charging again. Ideally, this software would allow for scheduled reboots as well. Does such a software for limiting battery charging cycles exist? Alternatively, does anyone know how I can force the phone to run connected only to a charger and without a battery in it? But having battery backup in the case of a power outage is awesome. The possible candidates for this are Evo 3D, Note5 and Samsung S4, all rooted already or easily rooted if need be. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 09:19 AM PDT So I bought the 128gb SanDisk Extreme Pro for a very very low price off of eBay so I didn't have high hopes that it would be real. On eBay's and the companies, side they had some problems and eBay sent me a full refund and I also got the micro SD I purchased. The problem is that the reading and writing speed is very very slow (I checked from my computer so idk how good it is) and it's noticeable because when I switched Spotify to my Micro SD, it is very slow and when I switch it back to my phone it's back to its normal speed. Can some one help? Maybe I should contact SanDisk? The packaging seems very legitimate as well and it should be life time warrantied. Thanks! I'm on the LG G6. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:44 AM PDT Hello guys So, here is the story for which I need help. I'm used to reflash samsung phones and recently I ended up with Xperia Z5. I wanted to put on lineage os, because the stock is not giving me enough options. I decided that I'll proceed as any samsung phone before and that I'll just put TWRP on the phone and do the things. I unlocked the bootloader and followed the following guide r/http://youtu.be/fdhAPeTJK6Y , BUT I didn't flashed the "boot.img" file before the recovery. After that I restarted the phone, entered TWRP, backed up my stock android just in case and totally forgot that I have explorer from the TWRP and I can mount my phone to get the old image and put the new directly on, so I restarted the phone and now it's in a boot stuck. I can't enter in any mode through the volume buttons. When the charge is dead, the phone goes off and when I plug it to charge it tries to boot and gets stuck on the screen from the image below. Any ideas how to fix it? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 07:37 PM PDT Ok so, I just ordered a galaxy s9 from sprint and I've been looking around on YouTube at phones and I came across dex mode. But I've only seen it used on the note 9. Is it a note only thing or if I buy a usbc to hdmi adapter can i use DeX? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2018 07:16 PM PDT Ever since last night's update to version 186.0.0.26.85, I've found that Messenger crashes frequently. I have tried clearing cache, clearing data, reinstalling the app, clearing cache via recovery and nothing works. While the crashing is random, I can replicate it by typing more than one character on the search bar. [link] [comments] |
Best app to block texts/calls? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:58 AM PDT I'm on a Galaxy S4. I'm getting bombarded by this crazy girl that I stupidly dated for a little bit and I don't want to have to go through Verizon to block her. Mostly because I'm on a family plan and I don't need the embarrassment of my dad finding out about my stupidity lol. Prefer a free app but if there's a paid option that is worth it I'd shell out a few bucks. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Anyway to setup automatic photo upload then delete from local storage? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:12 AM PDT Google has its own Backup and Sync option in Google Photos but is there anyway to make it so once a photo is taken, it gets uploaded, then deleted from the phones local storage? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:49 PM PDT Hi There, I have an encrypted Zenfone 4 Max and I would like to decrypt it. However, whenever I press on the encrypted button, nothing happens. I have tried resetting the phone but it doesn't work. I have also tried resetting from TWRP but that doesn't help either. I am wondering if I have to flash a new system image, but I can't find one anywhere. Andrew [link] [comments] |
