What does your phone timeline look like?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:50 AM PDT

    Here is mine!

I was thinking about phone & tech progression the other day and decided to dig out all my old phones, as fortunately I like to keep (most) of them.

They all work, but sadly I'm missing my original Ericsson T10S and my Moto V70.

Edit: Well you guys put my list to shame, but so many interesting phones out there really does show the diversity and different tastes people have... Keep em coming!

Owners of Huawei/Honor devices, how do you find the software experience?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:52 AM PDT

    Is there bloatware?

    Does the home launcher lag?

Do you get software updates regularly?

How long does Huawei support their phones?

I am thinking about buying a Honor 10, anything I should look out for?

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Thank you all for the answers, you've been very helpful!

LG V20 does not have the 30-month extended warranty from the LG Bootloop Settlement

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 09:52 AM PDT

Last summer, there was a class action lawsuit held by the law firm, Girard Gibbs against LG regarding the bootloop issue on their devices (link is now gone when you click on it). LG and Girard Gibbs had reached a settlement and communication was made on Girard Gibb's website stating that LG will provide an extended warranty for the bootloop defect for 30 months from the date of purchase.

Multiple sources have updated their articles stating the same thing:

This weekend, I reached out to LG on Twitter for more information regarding the warranty as my LG V20 had encountered the unfortunate bootloop issue. After a lengthy conversation with LG on Twitter and several phone calls with CSRs, there was a common and reoccurring statement that appeared -- the bootloop warranty for LG V20 is 15 Months from the Date of Purchase and 18 Months from the Date of Manufacture.

From here, it seemed like the 30 month extended warranty for the bootloop defect was not going to be upheld by LG and its' staff. To see if I can get a different response, I provided sources to where I was getting this information from, to which I received the following response:

    • Sorry but not everything that we read online is true. We have no reports from our Repair Facility that they also extended the warranty for LG V20 and LG G5.

I know this was incorrect as the articles above, from Droid Life, ArsTechnica, PocketNow, and XDA, all stated that the LG V20 and LG G5 was added into the arbitration suit and thus, should also be covered via the extended warranty.

Defeated, with no will to press on, and too much time spent on this issue, I posed one last question, "Is the lawsuit and the extended 30 months information inaccurate"?

To which LG responded, "That is correct".

To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of this.

I really liked my LG V20 and was hoping to keep it alive even longer, but I guess it's over for me with this amazing device.

For those curious about my device, it was never rooted and I tried all possible methods (that I know of) to try and get it working again (factory resetting, hard reset, battery pull, etc).
