I posted elsewhere, but got little comments on it within that thread. Trying my luck here.

Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

Recently I've had a new build made. All parts are brand new aside from the video card. After installing the OS (Windows 10) I began experiencing freezes. These last about 5 to 10 seconds. During I can move my cursor, the game or whatever other program is open seems to run alright. But it's like I'm locked out and can't do anything. It happens randomly. There are days where I'll only freeze a couple of times and others where it's unmanageable. Restarting the pc isn't a guarantee that the freezing will stop. Pc part temperatures are within normal range. No overclocking.

In addition I can say that I've noticed a pattern in the freezing when playing Overwatch. I haven't encountered this in any other game. But typically the freezing can get really bad that the sound currently playing repeats in an infinite loop. This is also where I'm forced to hard reset. Generally though, performance is great on most games and I don't have an issue with this at all.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

I've reinstalled the drivers, made sure the drivers were up to date, updated Windows 10, turned off fast boot.

Provide any additional details you wish below.

I suspect the OS might be the culprit, but before reinstalling Windows 10 I want to hear about other possible causes.

Windows 10 was installed via an external drive. The version that I first had on the computer was very outdated to the point that installing drivers for parts caused issues. I couldn't install my video card driver for example. This went away after updating W10.

Would really appreciate all the comments and help.

    Surface Book choppy on TV

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 11:19 AM PDT

    Hello!

I have my Surface Book w/ performance base hooked up to a Vizio E-series 65" smart TV via a Mini-port to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable from that to the TV.

Trying to play Nier Automata, but when I have it projected to the TV (single screen mode, TV being primary), I notice that it's pretty choppy.

Any suggestions for a fix? Tried changing the graphics quality on the game to Medium, didn't see any difference.

    uuuuuuuu.uuu problem

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 08:09 AM PDT

Hello. My new micro SD card Kingston 32g have this problem in my computer. Create a lot of files uuuuuuuu.uuu named hidding all the files. I probably had tried all de "solutions" in the internet: Malaware bits, ESET online, Avast, USBfix, ESET antimalaware, spyhunter, bitdefender antiransomware, kaspersky antivirus and antimalaware, acronis antiransomware and the "no mor ransom" page project... (of course not any pay solution), but no one detect a virus or something... Even i have reinstalled my OS and aplied low level format to my SD, but... the problem persist. I dont know what to do and yet dont know what kind of problem or virus is this, cause some say that is a ransomware, and others that is a fraud or false SD with less space. Please, anyone can help me...

    Mysterious Keyboard Issues--ASUS Zen Flipbook

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 07:36 AM PDT

Greetings all! I'm here after spending weeks trying to get to the bottom of some mysterious keyboard problems with a fairly new ASUS Zen Flipbook, or maybe it's a Zenbook ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In any case it's a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Q325UA with Windows 10 Home, max memory and storage, which probably isn't relevant, since the issues are with typing:

The up arrow keys types a P

x doesn't type, except for when it does, like in some webforms <-----These x's worked fine. I use Jarte Plus & it brings up a menu, even after removing and installing the app.

The Backspace and Delete keys delete extra spaces--one in front and one behind

The Insert key types a q--using the Backspace usually turns "insert" mode off (but not always).

The Q key sometimes functions as "paste" instead of typing a "q" and "Insert" key types a q <-----These q's came out fine. Maybe because it's a webform? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Insert mode sometimes turns off if something has been deleted.

I've been going back and forth with ASUS Tech Support for weeks--Is it a hardware problem? Is it a software problem? I was inclined to believe that it was a driver issue but I've removed the drivers and done two resets, attempting a third one when Microsoft refused to give me a recovery key for a month because I have a different telephone number than the one I used to register the device, which is total BS in my opinion, but hey, what can I do?

I spent quite some time on the telephone with Tech Support from the company I bought the ASUS from, having been referred back to them for repair from the last ASUS rep. The guy seemed competent so I allowed him to take control of my notebook, something I would not allow the ASUS knuckleheads to do--one of them actually had me change the keyboard layout to Dvorak thinking it would resolve the issues. Guess what--it didn't! (Dumb untrained poor ignorant person.) On the other hand, I was able to (accidentally) type an X. Hey, will ya look at that? Typing that one brought up a Javascript Scratchpad, something I hadn't even realized was available. I also got the "X" though, so I guess that may be progress.

I only just received this laptop on July 31 and have had these issues for most of that time. There are some design issues that really annoy me so I want to repair it so I can sell it and get something that meets my configuration wishes. I have to believe that someone makes and sells what I want, though I've yet to find it. I pray that some brilliant person here can help me figure out what to do to get this issue resolved. Thanks for your help!!!
