    Magisk v17.1 Stable Release

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 09:33 AM PDT

Magisk v17.1 is pushed to all channels!

I'm extremely sorry for the upgrade bootloop shenanigans. For those stuck in a bootloop after upgrading to v17.0, download the latest uninstaller to completely remove Magisk then flash v17.1.

You can upgrade from v16.0 to v17.1 with Magisk Manager without an issue, no need to panic anymore (I'm freaking out more than most of you can imagine LOL)

This upgrade comes with the long awaited SafetyNet check within Magisk Manager fix, and also added support to new Samsung kernels with KNOX defex protections.

For those games that currently detects Magisk, I'll crack them down ASAP, wait for future releases!

I just won the Android Authority Note 9 giveaway, I'll let you know if it's legit

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 12:18 AM PDT

I made this reddit account to let you know if these giveaways are legit.

I put up a name and completely forgot about it then got an email telling me I won. I've sent them all the required information and I'll see if their deadline of 1-4 weeks is true or if its just shady advertisement.

UPDATE: So far so good, they seem legitimately intent on delivering it, I've been contacted via email for clearer address details.

Android distribution: Oreo climbs steadily , 9.0 Pie still nowhere to be seen

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 09:51 AM PDT

Google skipped a few months of reporting the state of Android distribution, it's now back on track with the latest statistics for the end of August. The usual trend continues - most of the older Android versions are going down in numbers in contrast to the newer versions.

Compared to last month, 8.0 and 8.1 Oreo have risen by more than two percentage points from 12.1% up to 14.6%, which is probably directly related to the newly sold Oreo-powered devices. Interestingly, Nougat 7.0 and 7.1 numbers are exactly the same, although there's a small decline of 7.0 devices and an upwards trends of 7.1 handsets compared to July. In any case, the Nougat share remains solid at 30.8%.

Also, Google doesn't display Android versions with less than 0.1% distribution, which probably explains why we don't see 9.0 Pie in the charts. After all, only the Essential PH-1, Sony Xperia XZ3 and Google Pixel phones are running the latest OS version.

Marshmallow has went down from 23.5% down to 22.7% - insignificant difference - and the same goes for Lollipop devices - from 20.4% down to 19.2%. The other versions appear to have leveled off with no meaningful difference between July and August's distribution.

There are also interesting stats regarding screen size and pixel density that will surely come in handy to developers looking to further optimize their UI according to the trends. Check out the charts below and for more information, visit the source link below.

What is your thoughts about no-selfie smartphone, would you consider a phone if it was without front camera ?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 06:20 AM PDT

Hello so as a person who doesn't use the selfie camera I had this thought. Am I the only one who doesn't care about the front camera and just want to have more screen space ?

Just cracked the $200 mark after starting the program back in November of 2013. I've been able to go without buying apps with my cash while funding some some of my Google Play sub, Google Storage plan, and even purchasing some of my Udemy courses.

PSA: Note 9 Users - Samsung has removed the ability to purchase Samsung Premium Care UNLESS you purchase your phone directly from them.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2018 07:15 PM PDT

Just made the jump from iphone to android. Thought the note 9 checked all the boxes. Looked perfect.

Warranty looked better than my applecare. https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mobile-accessories/phones/premium-care-hhp-adh1-pb4/

HOWEVER, I but the phone and then call Samsung only to be told that I can not purchase the warranty as I did not buy the phone from Samsung.

SO SIMPLE. Just a simple heads up is all i needed and I would have purchased from Samsung instead of going through AT&T......

    Buyers beware.
