The ASUS GL502vs or the MSI GS63, which one should I go for? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:32 AM PDT So let's start off by saying I live in Nepal, where the customer care service is basically non existent so that part can be scrapped off completely. The version of the ROG GL502vs that I found has, an i7 7700HQ, a GTX 1070, a 120Hz G-Sync IPS Panel, 16 GBs of DDR4 memory, a 1 TB hard drive and a SSD on a 2.4KG Alimunium-Polycarbonate chasis. It costs somewhere around $1900 The MSI GS63 has an i7 7700HQ, a GTX 1060, a 60Hz 3180×2160 IPS Panel, 16 GBs of DDR4 memory, a 2 TB hard drive and a 512 GB SSD on a 1.8KG Aluminum chasis. This one costs around $2000. I'm tempted to go for the ROG but I've read online that this Laptop has a lot of heating issues with temperatures soaring over the 90°C mark (It was also recommended to undervolt the CPU). I also heard that the build quality of the Laptop is poor and that it doesn't really last more than 2 years and stuff like that. Whereas for the MSI I've read that It's a better machine in terms of cooling and build quality. I am starting college this year hence why I need a new laptop thats a bit more powerful cause I do game quite a lot, I mostly use the laptop for gaming and light Photoshop and graphic designs, which laptop seems better? Need a 32gb Ram Business laptop Posted: 05 Jul 2018 02:16 AM PDT Hello I'm looking for a business Laptop with around a 15.6 inch screen, 32gb ram or capacity, a 512gb ssd would be preferable but not essential if not then at least a 1TB hdd. It needs to be relatively light as in not a gaming laptop. Graphics are not important. The upper budget is about £2000 but the cheaper the better really. My preference would be a HP but I am more than open to other suggestions. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Desktop Replacement ~$2700 doable? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:42 AM PDT I'm soon going to be away for a few months leaving me unable to work or play on my desktop. I'm a professional web and software developer so it's crucial that I can run IDE's, VM's etc. I also enjoy gaming in my down time. Games vary but I enjoy playing titles such as WoW, Ark, Rust and any new single player I fancy picking up. I was hoping that when I return I can continue to use the laptop for development and gaming when I'm on the road but at the same time potentially use the laptop as my 'desktop' when I'm home and it at least be able to run games for the next couple of years. For this I think I will need a 1060/1070? I'm unsure about 144hz @1080p or 60hz @4k. The 4k will give me more 'screen real estate', right? With the 144hz giving more smoothness in general activities and gaming? Anyway, what laptop would you recommend for this? Am I asking too much for this price? Build quality, screen color accuracy, thin bezels, keyboard quality and frame rates are my priority. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Is the Huawei matebook x pro reliable? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 12:52 AM PDT I need a portable and premium laptop with an i7 and dGPU. I researched on a lot of laptops and decided on HP Spectre x360 15 and I feel like it's not the perfect one for me (don't need 2 in 1, no 1080p option so battery drained faster, 15 inch not very portable). Then I found the Huawei matebook x pro, it kind of has everything that I need, plus it has a 3:2 aspect ratio and a very attractive design. Now my problem is, it's a Chinese product, so how reliable is it going to be? If I need customer service, will I have to go all the way to China? Will the laptop crap out on me in just a year? Student wants laptop for gaming & productivity Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:57 PM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: USA; $800 - $1200 Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Gaming If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I would like to be able to play something like Skyrim on medium settings. 30 fps is fine. I don't need the best of the best. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Numeric keypad No touchscreen Good build; something that will last (I've had my current laptop for 7 years) Min 8GB RAM; 16 GB+ preferred 1 TB HDD min; would be nice to have some added SSD i5 min; i7 preferred Backlit keyboard preferred Ethernet port I am a complete pleb when it comes to tech stuff, so I appreciate any help that you folks can provide. Again, I don't need the absolute top of the line, but I would like something that will actually let me game (the most I can play on it is like Civ 5 with lowest settings lol). I would like to keep it under $1000 if possible, but will of course appreciate anything you guys can recommend. Thank you so much in advance! [link] [comments] |

Laptops with Intel CPU-AMD GPU and AMD CPU-Nvidia GPU Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:07 AM PDT Greetings. Right now, I'm using an HP Pavilion 11-x360 with Intel Pentium CPU which I bought it brand new back in 2014. Now, I am definitely thinking about replacing it with another brand new laptop. I am just a blogger and a photographer who frequently uses Adobe softwares such as Ps, Lr, and Mu just to name a few. Also, I am just a casual PC gamer who would play car sim games from Steam. I have two kinds of hardware I have been thinking. I want a laptop that have either: Preferably, I want a laptop that equipped with above mid-range CPU and GPU. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:00 AM PDT Background: Time to upgrade! Currently running off my Aorus X3 Plus V4 https://www.aorus.com/product-detail.php?p=571&t=59&t2=&t3=#pd_spec It has been a mostly wonderful machine and is the base I am going off for a new laptop, it got me hooked on Portability and that subtler gaming look. Many an afternoon has been spent in the office playing some games with no one the wiser. Total budget and country of purchase: Around 1000$ - there is wiggle room, if price to perfomance is good I can go higher Purchasing from Hong Kong or possibly the U.K. *Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. No preference for 2 in 1. Good battery is nice but not entirely necessary How important is weight and thinness to you?* Very, I move bases frequently. I am looking for a similar size\weight as my laptop mentioned above. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.* 14\15 inch 1080 Resolution and refresh rate to match hardware. I've seen some questionable pairings going around, 1050ti's with QHD screens? Ive had enough of scaling issues in games Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. GAAAAAAMMES and possibly video editing *If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I play a wide range of games. Something above 60 FPS is ideal, maybe around the 90\100 area. I'm happy to tweak settings accordingly. I'm not adverse to getting an external monitor as not many laptops have that midrange 'better than 60hz but not balls to the wall 144hz' refresh rate. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reliable and solid build quality. Portability, thinness, Subtle gamer look. Ease of use. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. 8th gen i5 xxxxx h 1050ti (or above) Screen to match performance. ALTERNATIVELY A laptop with a good 8th gen processor in a sleek form factor paired with an EGPU later to spread out the price. Thanks for your recommendations! [link] [comments] |
Does G.SKILL 3200MHz DDR4 SO-DIMM ram work on MSI GS65 Stealth Thin? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 02:55 AM PDT Hi, The laptop has 2666MHz ram support with the i7 8750h CPU, so I was wondering if 3200MHz frequency would work on the MSI GS65. I am not too knowledgeable on ram stuff, but I figured that since G.Skill does make that ram, then there would be laptops that can make use of it. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Is the dell xps 15 worth for me? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 04:09 PM PDT Hi! so I need a new computer cause my old one exploded and I'm thinking about getting the Dell XPS 15. The one I'm looking at has a core i7, 256GB PCIe SSD, 16 gb ram, nvidia GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5, without touchscreen and it comes to around 1.8k cad without tax (which is kinda splurging for me). Currently in engineering so will probably be using the laptop to do development and i'll be carrying it to class as well. I will also be playing games on it but which ones is kinda tbd. currently only play league and fortnite but i want to expand the platforms i get bullied on. Will also use photoshop and flash occasionally. Is it worth it? And if not what are other suggestions ? Thank you thank you [link] [comments] |

Machine Similar to a G3 15 (3579) Posted: 04 Jul 2018 10:19 PM PDT I recently bought a Dell G3 15 (3579) laptop for my girlfriend's birthday and I've been incredibly unimpressed by the performance. I've done tons of troubleshooting on the machine, completely reinstalled the OS using the base Windows 10 image, etc. and nothing seems to make any difference. I've gathered that the issue is probably the hybrid drive the machine is equipped with and Windows 10 not playing nicely with that particular piece of the spec. I think I'm going to return in in hopes of finding something with similar overall specs in a similar price range (around $700 - $800), but with an SSD. Does anybody have any ideas? It doesn't need to be a Dell, I'm open to other manufacturers. Here's a link to the spec of the 3579, for reference. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

US $1000: Gaming Laptop For Girlfriend Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:54 PM PDT As the title states, I am looking for a gaming laptop to give to my girlfriend. I tried offering to build her a desktop, as I could probably build a better gaming desktop for the money I'll be paying for this gaming laptop, but she wants to have portability as it will be used for college work as well. So here's what I'm looking for: - About a $1000 budget. Can be more, can be less. Prefer less.
Those are the only two things I am looking for with this laptop. Doesn't matter the brand, the look, or the seller. (Although I do prefer a reputable seller) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 03:29 PM PDT Hi, I currently live in America and am looking for a laptop in the $250-$400 range that will get me through my English undergraduate. It will be used only for Microsoft office and surfing the web doing research and occasional YouTube videos. If possible, it would be great if the laptop could last at least 4 years. Pentium processor or better. 4gb memory or better. 500gb hard drive or better. Any advice would be great!

Lenovo Legion Y530 vs. Dell G5 Posted: 04 Jul 2018 08:14 AM PDT Hi all, Looking for a light 15 inch laptop for a student for class and some moderate gaming. Don't need the top of the line graphics cards, so the 1050ti should be fine. Want a laptop that doesn't scream "gamer" to the world but whose performance is good with decent battery life. Important that it is not super loud or hot under load as well. These two seem good, and with comparable specs are both right around $1,000 on sale for the 4th. Which would you pick, and why? Or is there some other machine out there which is much better? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
