| Posted: 27 Jul 2018 07:49 PM PDT Hello, was kindly directed here from r/findareddit. I have a bit of a challenge, and was wondering if anyone would be able to help. I need to get into my phone which i wrecked a few years back, and while the screen no longer displays properly, the touch controls still work correctly and none of the internals are damaged. The phone is an HTC Desire 626 running Lollipop, though i'm not certain the exact version number. It is not currently rooted, nor have i had any success in the past despite my numerous attempts to do so. Usb debugging isn't currently enabled, but dev tools are, and i'm hoping i can use my s7 to blindly make my way through the menus without too much difficulty. I'm looking for a program i can use to mirror the screen to, say, a laptop or external monitor. I've already tried the Vysor chrome app, but it couldn't register it or my current phone (which did have debugging on). I know it's a tall order, but i'd appreciate any help anyone can give, and if anyone has any questions, i'm happy to answer as best i can. Thank you! [link] [comments]  |

| Can't change background on Android 8.1.0 Posted: 27 Jul 2018 02:20 PM PDT This has been a problem for a little while, can't remember what version it started happening, but I can't change my background picture on my phone, every time I try and change it it works for a little while but then reverts back to an old one that I had set. I have no idea how it goes back to that image though because I've since deleted the image off the device. Changing the lock screen background works fine, and I'm using Nova Launcher if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 27 Jul 2018 08:01 PM PDT Basically, my Nexus 5X is stuck at the boot logo (not a bootloop, it just happens and usually requires another reboot to fix it). The problem is that the power button is now pressed in and doesn't work anymore. Is there a way I can turn it back on? I am currently letting the battery die. The bootloader is unlocked. | Posted: 27 Jul 2018 07:22 PM PDT For the past several months (probably longer), pressing the + button in a Textra message does nothing. It just changes to an X and sits there. If you close the keyboard and press the +, it opens the keyboard.
Current versions SwiftKey: 7.0.9.28 Textra: 3.47

| Help! Netflix plays sound, but there's no picture on my new Huawei tablet Posted: 27 Jul 2018 06:55 PM PDT Hi all, I just got a Huawei Mediapad M5 8.4 yesterday. It is an 8 inch tablet in 16:10 ratio (similar to the old nexus 7). Model SHT-W09, running android 8.0.0, EMUI SHT-W09 8.0.0.151 (C432). I am not rooted, or have an unlocked boot loader. When I loaded Netflix last night for the first time on this tablet (Netflix works fine on my nexus 7), I was able to get sound and subtitles from a movie, but no video showed up. What was strange, is that when I hit the progress bar to skip ahead in the movie, the thumbnail showing the current frame showed.... but not the video. The movie plays, just the picture isn't there. I googled around, found a couple of suggestions, but nothing worked.

| Huawei P9 Lite not reading all photos Posted: 27 Jul 2018 04:51 PM PDT Hello, I have a Huawei P9 Lite 2017 with Android Nougat. I took some photos today, but 15 of them are not showing. All are saved on sd card. Those 15 are showing as files in folder, without thumbnails, each with normal size (5mb). I connected the sd card on PC (running Windows 7), reads the folder as usual, except the 15 photos don't have thumbnails, I can't open them and when I try to move them, I get an error: "0x80070057". The phone isn't rooted, but I found the thumbnails of these photos in phone's memory (small size each, around 30-35kbs). I searched google for solutions and tried many recovery programms on PC without luck. Does anyone know if I can get these pictures to open at full resolution? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 27 Jul 2018 04:10 PM PDT So I learned how to launch a video camera app through a ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE intent got this nice little video app records, saves my file to a name I gave it into the directory I want. What I noticed is, that the little button that takes pictures while recording, works! So I can still a picture while recording. Not something I expected at all. But here is the one problem. I don't know how to name those files and how to get them to a directory I want. They name automatically and they are sent to the gallery. In a perfect world, I could just replace the CPU. A lot of small Android tablets now seem to have 720p screen (Nexus 7 has Full HD). I had tried a 720p 8-inch tablet, but it looked all jaggy and ugly. I do not want to use low pixel density devices. The only thing that even comes close as far as I know is that 8-inch gaming tablet from Nvidia, but I have heard that its screen quality is worse than Nexus 7. [link] [comments]  |

A bit of a learning curve (I've used Apple for 10 years) but not too hard to figure things out. I was wondering what apps would you guys recommend along with anything else I should look into or customize etc. So far, I'm not a huge fan of the default SMS app. I'd also like to change icons if possible. I cann't seem to figure out how to load data into the SD card over LAN. With an old phone I could use either Droid NAS or Wifi File Transfer to access either the internal storage or SD card of the phone, but now I can't seem to get either to see the SD card. This is the case for my old 32GB card and my new 256GB card. It could be that I don't know where in the file system the SD card is mounted, but it's nowhere intuitive to me. [link] [comments]  |
