Posted: 28 Jul 2018 06:41 PM PDT This was my mom's old phone (LG G3) that I was trying to set up for my dad to listen to music at work. I did a factory reset not knowing she had this installed. She doesn't know the pin for it and I can't get past the screen asking for it. Is there any way to get past it? I tried changing the pin through the website but I guess since the phone isn't connected to internet it doesn't "realize" it's been changed. [link] [comments] |
Any floating dock apps for non-Huawei devices? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 06:38 PM PDT Been using a Mate 10 Pro for a little while and actually kind of like the floating dock it offers (really for the extra screen real estate and convenience). Anyone know of an app that does this for non-Huawei devices? [link] [comments] |

when you know with 90-95% certainity that a data plan is not needed or helpful, then you're come to this conclusion:
Feel free to link to something helpful if it's more helpful edit: how to learn basic things such as the above? ....like a lot of leraning it's a VERY long process, easiest thing is always a person with high knowledge on significantly better sites like quora, stackexchange that just tells you what's important about X (any given topic) [link] [comments] |
Longtime iPhone user thinking of making the jump Posted: 28 Jul 2018 02:47 PM PDT As a little back story I've been using an iPhone since my first phone. It was an iPhone 4, then 5s, then 6plus then 6s, now a 7plus. The past couple times I've thought about switching but have never made the commitment because I'm integrated into the Apple ecosystem. I also have a MacBook Air and Apple Music. Basically I'm trying to ask: What are the main differences between iOS and android ? What android phone would you recommend ? How is the best way to get my music onto an android phone ? Is there an Apple Music app? If so is it comparable? If you guys have made the jump? Would you recommend it? Any regrets? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Where is the bootloader unlock/lock state storaged? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 12:47 PM PDT Hey guys, does anyone know, where the device locked/unlocked state is storaged on the device? According to source.android.com at the "Detailed design" part in the "fastboot command"-table they say that there is write protected bit, if the bootloader is unlocked and it clears the bit, if the bootloader get locked. (The bold written in the text below.)
But where is the bit storaged? In which partition? I hope anyone could help :D [link] [comments] |

Looking for a multimedia solution Posted: 28 Jul 2018 10:53 AM PDT Hey guys, basically I'm looking for a method to sync music, photos, and other files from my PC to my phone wirelessly over my home network. For example: I take a pic on my phone, the photo folder on my pc updates with that pic and vice versa (a 2 way sync) . Ideally I could download the files straight to my SD on my phone when I sync and they wouldn't be on the cloud. Is there a program that achieves this? I've seen a few like Resilio Sync and Dropbox autosync which seem nice but I'm not a fan of strictly cloud storage (that's why I have a 120gb SD). What do you guys use to sync your stuff? How do I add a gmail account without adding it to google play? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:27 PM PDT I need to log into my university email account, but if I do it also adds the account to Google play and then purchases try to go through the university account instead of my main account. My OnePlus 3 is showing 40gb of apps, yet only has less than 10gb in reality? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:40 PM PDT Recently developed this problem where every time I make space for new data, it is quickly occupied by some app issue. Going into the breakdown of what apps are the largest, nothing out of the ordinary appears. I'm not rooted and am on the latest OS. Is there anything I can do before doing a factory reset? As that would be one ginormous pain in the butthole for me. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

No Bluetooth password prompt/failed to pair. Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:27 PM PDT I have a Bluetooth OBD2 reader for my car that connects fine to my phone however when attempting to pair with my tablet it says failed because of invalid passkey. and has never been paired to this tablet before so I can not forget it or unpair it and it never gives me a window prompt to input a passkey which by default is 1234. the tablet is a generic branded 7 inch tablet running Android 7. I am able to connect other devices to it with a password prompt so I'm not sure why this OBD2 reader is not triggering a password prompt on my tablet but it does with my phone and a couple other phones that I've tried. How do I get Facebook from constantly running in he background? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 06:51 PM PDT I have a galaxy s7 on oreo. Sometimes Google Maps is very very slow or can't find my exact location Posted: 28 Jul 2018 06:14 PM PDT Like the Is says 'no GPS signal'. Waze does the same thing but I usually use Maps. I'll try to exit the app, turn GPS on and off, airplane mode on and off and still won't work. Any ideas? I have a Moto G4. Not a high end phone but not a bare bones phone either. I remember my old Moto G2 doing the same thing. But this phone should be twice as fast. I'm not rooted and do run SD Maid. [link] [comments] |
Android unninstalling App without my permission Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:20 AM PDT Hello, I have a pixel XL updated to the android beta, and I wanted to donwload the Google news app. This app is not available in my country so I went to a repository and downloaded an APK. I installed it, and everything works as usual, the app is running smoothly, but when I close it and leave the phone idle for a few minutes the APP dissapears from the launcher. If I try to install it again the phone tells me that is already installed and I can update it, if I do that the app appears again on the launcher and I can use it again. Can anyone help me with this? should I block permissions for Google Play services (I think that is what is missing with my apps)? [link] [comments] |
Can't move apps to SD ever since migrating apps on Lenovo P2 Posted: 28 Jul 2018 05:40 PM PDT Device used: Lenovo P2a42 Hello everyone, today I tried migrating apps from my SD to my internal storage because my internal storage is a bit faster. At around 73%, the migration stopped because my internal storage was full. Ever since, things have gone downhill. Many apps crashed, and I rebooted my system. I then tried changing the apps back to my SD back but then they were in this new storage option called "phone only" and they were immovable, even after reinstalling the apps. I then even tried moving them with APK Editor but then the apps dysfunctioned. As a last resort, I factory reset my phone hoping it would be over. But no. Even now they are still unavailable to switch. I formatted the SD card for internal storage twice now. Can anyone help me? So, what I tried:
If you need any other screenshots/info from me, just tell me. Album visually describing my problems Please help me, this is one of the few situations where I felt I have tried everything yet nothing worked thus far. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
I wiped my phones data and now my battery life has tanked. Posted: 28 Jul 2018 01:38 PM PDT Phone is an LG Stylo 2 running Android 7.0 Before erasing everything my phone had no problem lasting 8+ hours days listening to music and the battery would barely lose charge. Now after 8 hours it will almost be dead even if I only used it for 30 minutes. I looked at the battery consumption and it just tells me straight up lies. [link] [comments] |
My Samsung S7 completely dead! Even with 50% + battery! Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:25 AM PDT Hi guys I've been having problems with my s7 for a while now. Recently it has been freezing, then it will suddenly reboot itself. I sent it off for repair via ee and something was apparently fixed. For the first few days after getting the phone back i had no issues. Then i have started to get the same problem again although now it has now gotten worse. When it freezes now it will just die and i wont be able to boot unless i hold the buttons and select restart through the boot menu. It has just died again and i cant even do that. It has not ran out of battery and i cant even charge it ( there is no indication such as the red light that comes on when you plug the charger in) I want to do a factory reset again but i am completely unable to do so. Cheap devices (smartphone) that can use 128gb+ microsd cards? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 12:17 PM PDT I rarely use a phone for calls or social media nonsense, but when i do have a phone on me, i tend to use it for music, like you would a walkman etc. However, the 2 phones i have are limited to 32gb for additional storage. My music collection is just under 100gb, and i would like to know of an android smartphone, on the cheaper end of the scale, that supports 128gb+ for the microsd. Can anyone recommend any phones? Ideally, anything less than £100. The smaller the better, as it will just be used for music with headphones. [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to properly display long contact names on the incoming call screen? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 05:19 AM PDT Hello there! In my language, names tend to be rather long — at least longer than the Android's incoming call screen will allow. As a result, it will only show the beginning of the name and then cut off the rest of the information (usually the last name, which is kinda important) with a "..." I'm wondering if there is any way to, for example, reduce font size or just make it use two or more lines? There's plenty of empty space on the screen! And generally, is there any way to customise the incoming call screen? Sometimes I wish it would display additional fields (such as workplace), or maybe just make the contact image bigger? I feel like there's a severe lack of customisation there but maybe I just don't know how to do it. Thanks in advance for any help! P.S. In case it's relevant, I'm using Android 8.1.0 on my OnePlus 6. Edit: I'm using the default dialer app but I'd change it for something more customisable if there's one. [link] [comments] |
