Samsung Galaxy S8: Bad screenshot and recording quality after Oreo update? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:49 AM PDT After updating to Oreo (few months back), my screenshots are now saved as jpg for some reason (used to be png) and look much more compressed. Recording using the game tools also looks much worse than before, as if the bit rate has been lowered. Does anyone know why this is the case or how to fix it? Haven't seen anything mentioned in the update history or any forum posts, aside from a reddit thread with no solutions. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Notifications cleared on app when opened. How to change back? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:29 AM PDT So after the oreo update I clicked "turn on" on an option that popped up and I cant find how to turn it back off. No matter how many unopened text messages from no matter how many people as soon as I open the messages app it clears all notifications and the only way I can see that i have an unopened one still is if I go back into the app. Anyone know how to turn it back to the old way without doing a reset? Unstable 3g signal, is this a network provider or faulty S8 issue? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 06:21 AM PDT I haven't been able to make or receive phone calls for a week. I've been getting the runaround from both the provider and Samsung tech support and still not any closer to a resolution and both cannot identify any issues aka cannot help me. I've narrowed it to problems connecting to the 3g network used for phone calls. But the connection is extremely unstable (flips between no signal and H+ every second). Video here: https://youtu.be/4nLfo2NDqdc 4g, data, sms, mms etc are all working fine. 2 factory resets have not helped SIM does work in another phone. But I tried a friend's SIM in the S8 and it works.... What the hell is going on? [link] [comments]

Help! New update has erased vital data from my phone. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:16 AM PDT The data that has been lost was/still is inside Secure folder. Now before you all stay I should have backed up my data, I did/have. 4 times. I backed it 2 days before I updated my phone, then again the day before and on the day. And yes, the data WAS backed up. Here is the thing, all the data has been restored my photos, contacts, and files but none my data stored in the Memo app. I have lost ALL my passwords, login details, and other private notes that were stored in Memo. In the restore part of Secure Folder it shows that there is data in the Memo app, and when I restore the data is shows it is being restored but it does not. If I go into setting inside Secure Folder it shows there is data stored in the Memo app. Question is how do I get my data back. The new update says 'Memos or S Note are no longer supported. You can restore app data or view it in Samsung Notes'. I downloaded Samsung Note added it to my Secure Folder and tried to restore data but nothing, I tried importing it into Samsung Note via the Samsung cloud but nothing. Help! Please. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:01 AM PDT In terms of knox security and encryption. Apple have been in the news for patching local PD'S across the developed world (UK and US) from getting into iPhones. In terms of knox, how similar is the security? [link] [comments]
Samsun S6 > Camera > grinding noise Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:07 AM PDT I have looked up what this sound is, my only question is: does it HAVE to be fixed? Will anything happen to my phone if I do not get it replaced? Is it safe to leave it how it is? [link] [comments]
Recently switched from Apple watch to samsung gear and I want to go back.. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:59 AM PDT I have a note 8 which I love , but the gear sport watch not so much. The main issue I have is the heart rate logging. I have mine set to frequent, which logs every 10 minutes but only when you are idle. Which means I get some stats of when I'm in bed but nothing for the rest of the day even when I sit in front a pc for 8 hrs for work. There is another setting which is constant but that would eat battery life. Why samsung hasn't got an option to log periodically and then work out from the watch sensors if you are idle or walking or whatever I don't know. As that seems to be the standard for most other wearables. [link] [comments]

Samsung Photo Editer on Oreo little rant. Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:41 PM PDT I am not sure if other users notice this, but photo editor on my Oreo s7 is a downgrade from nougat. I am unable to put the picture in another resolution other than 1:1 and I do not have the option to flip the picture as well. Does anyone notice this? [link] [comments]
Galaxy Note 8 on Verizon: How do I restore the cut applications/remove all the Verizon bloatware? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 12:23 AM PDT Hi all, Is there any way I can get features back that Verizon cut from my Note 8 like caller ID and voicemail? I'd also like to remove the stupid stuff like the Verizon splash screen. I made the mistake of not buying unlocked when I ordered the phone from Samsung back in September and have gotten quite frustrated with the Verizon ordeal. Thanks! [link] [comments]
[Help][X-post] Android backups not being found Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:25 PM PDT [PREVIOUS THREAD](https://old.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/8ug5vd/google_backup_not_working_stuck_on_waiting_for/) I am trying to switch from a OnePlus 5 to a Samsung Galaxy S9. Logged in on my Samsung during setup/start up and signed in to my Google account. However, [my OnePlus backup shows up on my Drive perfectly fine](https://imgur.com/KK2aDWr), but [the phone says "No backups found, No backups linked to [email]](https://imgur.com/D0tkgHh). I have factory restarted the Samsung three times and tried re-logging in each time and it keeps saying there is no backup even though there is. Yes, I am signed in to the same account on both the Drive and the phone. My [Google Dashboard also shows that I have a backup for my OnePlus](https://imgur.com/ulieC0P). I've tried contacting Samsung support, but they've told me the problem is on Google's end and told me to contact Google. But, of course, there is no way to contact Google afaik. They just have their shitty support forums. What should my next steps be? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! I'm desperate and super frustrated as I've been dealing with phone issues for weeks! Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
S9 plus low front speaker volume Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:03 PM PDT Since this morning the volume of my front speaker is very low, in calls or media. The only thing that changed is i applied a dome glass screen protector but i'm sure there was no liquid near the speaker. Did anyone experience this? [link] [comments]
Samsung 'Auto switching between Wi-Fi & Mobile Data Networks' is really poor!! Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:54 PM PDT Had to turn this feature off because at times it automatically switches to mobile data even though the wifi is working perfectly fine. Though restarting wifi solves the issue but this can be frustrating. I never faced this issue with my earlier Moto phones. Even my other redmi phone do not have this issue. Even when there is a problem with wifi connection, redmi instantly switches to wifi as soon as the connection is good but with my Samsung S7, i have to manually restart wifi to reestablish the connection. Its not just S7, my previous phone Samsung S6 too had this same issue. [link] [comments]
Cannot calibrate Q9FN UHD-TV...local dimming wrecks the test patterns, cannot be turned off Posted: 27 Jun 2018 09:52 PM PDT I got a new Samsung Q9FN TV and was eager to use it but having buyer's remorse. I am having a hard time getting rid of the Soap Opera effect on the TV. I have mostly gotten rid of it but it persists on some things and kinda seems to be almost there in others. So I figure I will calibrate it. I get out my Disney WOW HDTV calibration disk and have a go. It gets all screwy from the get go. Trying to adjust the brightness the test patterns were mostly invisible. You could see some but it was just a complete mess on the screen. I am guessing the cause is the local dimming the TV does. The TV has a FALD back panel which dims certain areas to deepen blacks on the TV. I am sure it is great when watching a show but it literally ruins any attempt at calibration. I checked in the settings to turn it off and you can't...low is as good as it gets and that causes the same problem. Oh...I also tried two different Blu Ray players...same thing from both so it is not the player. Does anyone have any workarounds for this? The missus is not happy at all with the new TV so it is going back unless I can sort this. [link] [comments]
Will Samsung accept a Galaxy S5 for $200 in credit? Posted: 27 Jun 2018 03:59 PM PDT So currently Samsung is doing an offer where you can trade in ANY phone for $200 of your new phone. My mom has a Galaxy S5 that has the flap covering the charging port removed...will they accept it? Should I play it safe and give them my old S3 mini? The S3 mini is a Malaysian version but it's unlocked. I'm just worried because apparently Samsung is a bitch at this. [link] [comments]
