Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:27 PM PDT I want to play a region 2 dvd on a ps4 but you can only change region a few times, is there a way to remove or change the code without having to burn a new one? All the stuff I've found online seem to suggest you have to rip them and make a new copy, but I want to use the original dvd. [link] [comments] |

Installing new motherboard drivers without disc drive Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:57 PM PDT Hi guys, I have just assembled my new computer and need to install my OS and motherboard drivers without a disc drive in my build. I have downloaded Windows 7 64-bit to a USB, however for my motherboards drivers that came with it in the box I cannot find the correct place to download the drivers that the disc has on it. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B360M DS3H. The disc says it has Intel 300 series drivers/Utilities. When i look on Gigabyte's website it only has drivers for Windows 10 and not 7. Are the Win10 drivers compatible with Win7? And do i just download all the drivers from the page, put the on a USB and then install them like that after I have installed Windows 7? Thank you for reading and your help! [link] [comments] |
Gears of War 4 install on Windows 10, Install button greyed out Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:53 PM PDT I am trying to install Gears of War 4 on my Windows 10 PC but the Install button is greyed out. I can't seem to find any issues related to this problem when searching online. Most of the issues being referred are dated back in 2016 or related to the Anniversary update. At the time of these issues I found, the game was working and installed properly. Now, I can't seem to figure out how to install Gears of War 4 from the Windows Store onto Windows 10. OS: Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 1709 Build 16299.492 RAM: 16GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Version 398.36 [link] [comments] |
ASUS Prime B350 Plus - Boot Priority can't be changed Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:34 AM PDT So, this problem started just yesterday and I tried to google it to no avail. My PC tries to boot from my HDD, which is not where my Windows 10 installation is. I went into bios to check boot priority and there is only my HDD listed, not my SSD. I can only boot into Windows via Boot Menu but I have to do that everytime I want to access my PC, since Boot Priority does not recognize my SSD. Full PC specs: ASUS Prime B350 Plus Ryzen 5 1600 16GB's of DDR4 Sapphire Nitro R9 390 120GB Kingston SSDNow 2x 500GB Seagate Barracuda HDD's Windows 10 Professional build 1803 17134.112 64 bit I flaired this as Open Other since this problem can be software, hardware or the combination of them. EDIT: Added a bit more info EDIT 2: The fix was very simple, I removed the SATA cables from my hard drives, booted the machine, turned it off, added hard drives back and it works now. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:17 AM PDT Hi R/tech support, For the last 2 days I have noticed some was off with my computer. I'm currently up north so was just ignoring it till I got home and could get it looked at. If bumped my computer it would start making a light or sometimes loud grinding noise. To try and prevent any damage I would shut it down restart it and the sound would go away. Last night guess I passed out in my chair watching live streams and awoke 3 hours later to a blue screen. I shut it down and thought I would deal with it in the morning. Just woke up an hour ago and have been trying to figure this out when I boot it up I get the Lenovo logo and then it just continues to load (sounds like it keeps failing to boot as it sounds like it's about to boot and then starts again). So I did some research the first suggestion and only one to show anything new was to hit F8 and start a safe boot. When I tried this I got the error "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed". I have a Lenovo Y-Series 50-70 and I'm using Windows 10, idk what other information is useful in dealing with this problem but feel free to let me know. The laptop had warranty I'm unsure if it still does as this was a replacement for the first one which died the 1st day I had it. I have had this one for 2-3 years and haven't had any problems with it before this. I can give Lenovo a call if you guys think I should or can take it to a local tech if need be when I return home. Thanks in advance for the help. [link] [comments] |
Is my Comcast router/modem capping my VPN speed? Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:16 AM PDT I noticed that my VPN download speed doesn't go above 50-60 mbps. I tried 2 VPN providers and both won't go above that. My speed without a VPN on is 200-300 mbps. I read online on some forums that it may be a Comcast Router/Modem issue and people said it was fixed by using their equipment rather than the ones provided by Comcast. Does this seem plausible? Can anyone confirm? [link] [comments] |
Some websites redirect me to my router settings. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:16 AM PDT I'm not sure why this is happening, but whenever I enter a website like battle.net, I get redirected to my router settings login. This is what I get, but it still says it's the battle.net link for whatever reason. [link] [comments] |
New strix 1080 caused crashes + artifacts on screen. Now can't boot with it. Defective card? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:04 AM PDT I just stuck in a new 1080 strix, previously was using a 1070. Everything was good for a few minutes, then I started getting strange green and pink symbols all over the screen. Weird artifacting. Crashed. Then white horizontal lines and crashing. Now I can't even post to bios when hdmi is hooked up to the video card. I can still boot to OS if my hdmi is just hooked up to the mobo. No crashing this way. Mobo light stays on a white led which means vga as well. Was using the latest drivers, did a clean install. My temps looked good I think, want even doing anything demanding. Have reseated it twice, in a different slot, still get the same thing. Used two different hdmi cables. Is this a defective card? I'm really really hoping it's not, because it is going to be difficult to exchange, but I'm panicking and not sure what else it could be that I can check. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:52 AM PDT I replaced my PC's case last Thursday and worked fine until yesterday. Now, whenever I boot up from a shutdown nothing displays on the monitors nor do the keyboard and mouse seem to get power, though, the PC itself turns on; or at least it looks and sounds like it. Looked through suggestions online for how to fix and ran into a post about unplugging everything, including from wall socket, pressing power a couple of times, and plugging it all back after 3 minutes. I left it unplugged for longer and pressed the power button multiple times just in case. After it all was done it worked just fine. Thought it was fixed but then when I shut it down and returned a bit later, it did the same thing again except it was late so I didn't try to discharge everything again. Any ideas on what may be going on? The fans and light for the power all seem to turn on just fine except there's no usual booting up audio beep nor do the mouse and keyboard light up like usual. Nothing is displayed on any of the monitors (three total but usually only two are on) either. It was all working fine until yesterday. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:41 PM PDT My HDD has been almost completely silent up until tonight. I opened my case and decided to airdust my heat sinks for the first time in years. Closed it all up, and now when anything accesses my drive, it makes a clicking noise. It's not super loud, but it wasn't there before, and now I'm worried. Solved: Ran HDTune, everything OK. Overreacted to small change in noise. [link] [comments] |
Put NAS closest to PC or Modem? Posted: 27 Jun 2018 06:34 PM PDT Quick question, I have a NAS setup that I want to direct wire to my PC. Currently, I do not have a USB cable or Ethernet cable long enough to span the distance. I am going to buy a new long cable and I can put the NAS next to my modem or next to my PC. Is there any reason that I should put it closest to one of these (meaning that the wire would be shorter). Would any speed be legitimately affected either way? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
chrome has started refreshing all tabs randomly Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:20 PM PDT I tried disabling 2 things, (can't remember what they're called), supposedly it would stop but it hasn't usually chrome won't load some tabs, until I click on them, now it feels as if chrome tries to load everything at the same time, with "only" 8GB ram, chrome hogs all then reboots windows 10, 64bit, pro edition [link] [comments] |
Can't remove computer viruses, need help. Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:17 PM PDT Hello Reddit ! I need your help with this irritating issue that happened. First of all, I want to let you know that I have malware bytes and avast as virus protection. So what happened was I tried downloading a keylogger for a program I didn't want to spend money on (I'm sorry, I'm broke). My avast warned me about how harmful it can be, but I foolishly ignored it. Well this keylogger started installing alot of stuff on my computer and it didn't even work. So I installed it but now I'm getting these symptoms:
I have ran both my antivirus software and malware caught 167 threats, which were quarantined then deleted, avast caught 11 and deleted. I restarted my computer and still kept hearing audio in the background. I checked task manager and still saw the two programs: fuzzy and wordless. Those two are just not going away. I scanned my computer again with both programs and they both said my computer is clean. I found some hidden folders where "fuzzy" and "wordless" are and deleted them, then they reappear after I close the window. Is there any advice any of you suggest I do? [link] [comments] |
All my text files are corrupt/ damaged. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:05 AM PDT I've recently lost my files on my USB after resetting my pc factory new using that USB flash drive. I used recuva and other file recovery programs I get the same result. They find the .txt and winrar files but they are all corrupt, showing a long list of random code. I can't open my winrar because it says it's damaged. I have Windows 10, please help :( [link] [comments] |
Windows 10 PC cant access shared folders Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:04 AM PDT Hi all, I'd be really appreciative of some help with my home network. I've currently got a server 2008 media server running. It currently connects to my router via ethernet. I've got some shared folders on it that I can access from my windows 10 computer (z170, i7 6700k, connected via ethernet, windows 10 pro, 10.0.17134). I can also access it wirelessly from a laptop and via my phone. I've just rebuilt and older computer for my wife (p8z77v, i7-3770, connected via wireless ASUS PCE-AC55BT, windows 10 pro, 10.0.17134). When I try to access the server, I get the message "Windows cannot access \SERVERNAME. Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network." I've run through everything I can think of. I've checked that network and file sharing is turned on, that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled, and that the Computer Browser service is started. Any thoughts? Of possible relevance is that I was unable to run the drivers CD that came with this motherboard, it's apparently too old and wont run on windows 10. [link] [comments] |
I've got this black static-like stuff on my monitor. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:00 AM PDT I think I put too much pressure on it in the wrong place accidentally. It's only in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, and I heard a crack sound when it appeared. Here's an image of it. So, yeah. Any help would be appreciated. I don't wanna take it to a store and then find out I could've fixed it myself after paying. That being said, if I do need to go to a store, please tell me where and how much it'll cost. Dell Latitude 5440 won't power on Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:57 AM PDT Hi All, I just received a laptop from one of our consultants and wanted to run this by someone who has seen this before. When I tried to power on the laptop it powers it on 3 times and then stops. I don't get any display to show or any sound. I removed the batter and just tried to run on A/C and same thing happened. I then removed the CMOS battery and the thing powered on. I ran some diagnostic tests and a memtest (error on post indicated a memory issue) but everything was ok. I tried to run it on battery power last night and it was dead. So I let it charge overnight. This morning I tried to power on the laptop and the same issue happened. Took battery out and even CMOS and issue happened again. I then powered on the laptop without the CMOS battery to have it reset, it powered on. Would a faulty CMOS battery cause the laptop to not power on? Is the issue more with the actual battery and not the CMOS battery? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:54 PM PDT You see, I want to play games on a laptop that I will buy soon. But I can't tell which gaming card I should get. I'm not going to play any heavy games, mostly free to play games like pubg. Do I need to get a nvidia card or is an intel card good enough? [link] [comments] |
I think I bricked my Intel NUC Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:05 PM PDT I recently purchased a used Intel NUC (model NUC7i5BNK). I paired it with 16 GB DDR4 SODIMM and a Samsung 512GB NVME drive. The NUC was running Windows 10. The computer was running as expected, except when I benchmarked the parts to see if everything was running properly, I was notified that the ram was running significantly slower than it should be, and that I would need to update my BIOS to reach their expected potential. You may see where this is going. So, I downloaded the latest BIOS for this specific model from Intel's website, and formatted my USB drive. I put the .bio file onto the USB drive. I then entered the NUC's BIOS updating tool and selected the removable drive and BIOS file. At this point what should have happened is that the BIOS should update, and I would be on my way, but instead, the display immediately lost signal. I figured that the BIOS might be taking a while to update, so I gave the computer some time. The computer would stay on for about a minute, and then turn off for about 5 seconds, and would then turn on again. During this cycling, there was no display at any point. I could only tell that it was powering on and off because of the LED's and fans in the computer. I read that a BIOS update should take no more than 1-2 minutes, so after 20 minutes of the computer cycling on and off, I started troubleshooting. I tried doing a CMOS reset by moving the CMOS jumper from pins 1+2 to 2+3 for a minute, then moving them back. (I unplugged the NUC when I moved the jumper to prevent further damage). This did not work. I tried removing my Samsung drive and one stick of ram just to try entering BIOS again. This did not work. I also tried entering the "power button menu" by holding down the power button when the device was off, and this too did not work. I've also tried using multiple different HDMI cords for my monitor, but no dice. Right now, as soon as I plug in the NUC, it powers on with no display, and stays on for about a minute, then powers off for a few seconds, then powers back on. It repeats this cycle until I unplug the machine. After attempting to update BIOS, the computer has not displayed anything. It is important to note that it turns on and fans start spinning immediately when it receives power, I don't even touch the power button. I am getting worried here, any help would be appreciated! Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:44 AM PDT I'm not too good with networking issues, and this one is really frustrating. To start, I have two networks to choose from. The 5GHz and the 2.4GHZ. Both have maximum signal strength and usually have no problems connecting to the internet. However, when I'm connected to the 5GHz network, I can't hold a stable connection when gaming. My ping hovers around 50-60ms, though randomly I will get extreme lag spikes that will kick me from my game. This has been most noticeable with Rainbow Six Siege. This only happens on the 5GHz network. When I'm on the 2.4GHz channel, I don't experience random disconnects. The problem is inconsistent, and only arises sometimes. One day I can play without random disconnects, on another I will constantly be disconnected from my game. I'm not sure what is causing this. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge [link] [comments] |
Computer in Energy Saver Mode keeps restarting for no reason (Win7) Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:41 AM PDT Pretty much as above, my computer keeps restarting when put into energy saving mode for no reason at all. I tried to disable any way to reactivate it besides pressing the power button but it simply doesn't work. I guessed it could be slight mouse movements that make it restart, but that wasn't the case. And now I'm out of ideas. I have quite an amount of PDFs open that I work on and it is a nuisance to open like multiple pdfs every time I take a break and since it won't save the configs for whatever reason I have to modify zoom on those documents every time... I mean, I could just leave my computer turned on the whole day, but that would be a huge waste of energy and money. I'd love to use hibernate, but since I use an SSD, I don't want to write my whole RAM onto it every time I go into standby which would be multiple times a day. Anyone knows how to solve this issue? Issues with WiFI not connecting Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:35 AM PDT So a couple of days ago I ran into the issue where my TP-LINK usb (Single Band) stopped connecting to my wireless 2.4Ghz router. As a a random solution, I tried connecting the usb adapter to the front of the PC, to which is was able to connect to the 2.4Ghz band, however I've been getting terrible internet connection since. Thinking it's a fault of the USB adapter, I bought a PCI-e t6e TP-LINK WiFi adapter (Dual band). Things from there got stranger, as I can connect to the 5Ghz connection of my router but not the 2.4Ghz, as the 2.4Ghz keeps randomly appearing and disappearing within the connection popup. If I leave the USB adapter in the front port, it still shows the 2.4Ghz connection, even though the PCI-e adapter doesn't, so no idea what's happening there. Things I've tried up until this point; Restarting router, Refreshing DnS, Changing bands, removing security on modem, limiting it to 20Hz and 40Hz instead of auto. At this point I think the back of my motherboard might actually be faulty, but weirdly enough everything else works except this, so no idea what's happening there. Also looked everywhere for similar issues, couldn't really find any. Thanks a lot for your help [link] [comments] |
