Anyone know if laptop systemboards have a way to jump a power on signal?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 01:29 PM PDT

Client brought in a laptop (Asus gaming laptop) that liquid was spilled in. It no longer powers on, but it does get a charging light when the power is applied. Opening it up and there is no visible corrosion on the system board or internal components. The issue is this laptop's power button is part of the keyboard, and this is not exactly a common laptop, so I don't have a donor I can try in its place. I want to find out if it is just that the keyboard is shot, or if the system board went too. I would need to somehow jump power (similar to bridging pins on a desktop board) to power it on. I know this could vary from laptop to laptop, but anyone have suggestions to try to power it without the keyboard sending the power on signal?

Advice needed as a freelance subcontractor

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 06:15 PM PDT

Hey friends. I have a small company of 3 techs plus myself and a dispatcher. We utilize sites like OnForce and Workmarket to generate 50% or more of our revenue. I need some advice on being more profitable, software or way to better manage orders and techs, and ways to scale.

I'd love to chat with someone with 5 techs or more doing something similar. We need to improve our margins and run smoother. Any tips appreciated.

    Old harddrive

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:59 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I have an external harddrive that I desperately want restored. I took this on my first deployment overseas, it has a lot of photos and videos. At one point when I plugged it in the power would come on but couldn't access anything. After I came back from Germany, it doesn't power on at all. No clue how to get this fixed, any help is appreciated.
