    Chrome infamous "black boxes"

Black boxes are appearing randomly when i scroll.

Tried doing anything that might solve this (disabling and enabling hardware setting, turning off and on, clearing cache, resetting settings to default) - nothing helped.

    False positive malware infection?

    Posted: 04 May 2018 05:21 AM PDT

I got an email from AT&T (my ISP):

    Dear me,

AT&T has received information indicating that one or more devices using your Internet connection may be infected with malicious software. Internet traffic consistent with a malware infection ("ramnit-0xee506807") was observed on Apr 30, 2018 at 9:39 PM xxx from the IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Our records indicate that this IP address was assigned to you at this time.

Infected computers are often used as part of a zombie computer network ("botnet"). Botnets are networks of computers which have been infected with malware and placed under the control of a hacker or group of hackers. They are often used for attacks on websites, spamming, fraud, and distribution of additional malware.

I checked headers and such, and given that it had my full name and AT&T account number, I think it's a legitimate email.

I scanned all of my computers with both MalwareBytes and Dr.Web CureIt! and both were clean. My understanding of ramnit is that it's some pretty nasty stuff and it's not exactly subtle (i.e. thousands of files infected) when you scan it with a AV.

Here's the question - during the time that they cited in the email, I was on my VPN. I distinctly remember that when I went on google on the VPN I had to enter CAPTCHA's. Could my ISP have mistaken my traffic through the VPN/VPN's traffic? as consistent with malware?

Gigabyte Windforce R9 390 dead / No signal on display

    Posted: 04 May 2018 01:46 AM PDT

Hi folks, I'll try to keep this short.

Played an old game when my computer died, this wasn't the first time so I rebooted. Displays had no signal so I switched to internal graphics and found that the Win10 thinks I've unplugged my card (it's under the hidden devices and the reason stated is that the card is not currently present). Power supply should be good, the card lights up and the fans start turning when the computer is turned on for a while which makes me believe that the card is somehow still operating since the GPU seems to create heat. I switched the PCIe port, removed peripherals, cleaned the PC, put everything back together but the problem persists. I think it is pretty safe to assume that the card's dead which is a bummer since the warranty lapsed just 4 months ago. If there are however things that I could still do to verify or repair/unbrick my card I'm all ears for suggestions.

I can upload sysinfo/hwinfo if anyone thinks it could be relevant.

    Thanks in advance.
