Windows 10 PC Troubleshooter Boot Loop Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:36 PM PDT My Windows 10 (originally 8 but upgraded) computer isn't booting properly. A blue screen came up (not the BSOD, but a less-intimidating screen with an error message), and it restarted. Since the restart, every time it goes to boot up, the computer goes to a screen where it says it's diagnosing the problem, and then to a screen where it says that the program cannot fix the problem. There are three options from there where I can continue to windows (just loops back into the troubleshooting program again), troubleshoot, and shut down. I tried to get into safe mode but that does not seem to be working through any means. Before this problem occurred there were one or two times that the computer had trouble shutting down, and the machine went on for quite a few minutes after the screen went black and I had to force shut down. I'm sure this has something to do with it but I don't know what would be wrong. I have Windows Defender updated and ran a few scans soon before it did this, so there shouldn't be a virus. I tried to reset and it claims that there's an error and that nothing has been changed. I will not completely reset because I have important files/documents/pictures on there and some of them haven't been backed up yet. Is it possible that it's hardware? My computer is 10 years old (as of last December) but (I think) all the parts except for the case, monitor, and speakers have been replaced over the years. [link] [comments] |
