Poor College Student Needing New Laptop - Any Advice?

Poor College Student Needing New Laptop - Any Advice?

Poor College Student Needing New Laptop - Any Advice?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 07:12 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: As cheap as possible, in the United States.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. A 2 in 1 would be nice for when I take notes in class, but it is not a priority. Batter life is definitely a number one.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? I like my laptops thin and light.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Preferably Windows, just because I can't afford a Mac.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Just streaming video, redditing, and Microsoft office.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? NA

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good keyboard, preferably backlit, definitely reliable build quality, and a really good track pad. I would also like an SSD hard drive and a good amount of RAM so I don't have to deal with slow start up/freezing etc...I also like the high resolution displays.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I currently have a Toshiba P55W-B5112 that I bought about 5 years ago now, and it has been a piece of work ever since I got it. The fan never worked, it was sent to me with a broken keyboard, broken track pad, broken hinge, everything! Total lemon of a computer, but it was the biggest purchase I had ever made at the time so I didnt' want to return it, also I lived in a town of about 1,000 people so driving to return it wasn't really an option because it was too far away. I'm currently really poor and struggling to even buy ramen at this point in my college life, but my laptop is hitting its final straw. I really need a new one that is reliable and maybe still as nice as the one I have now (maybe nicer?) I am definitely willing to save up for a new one since it is urgent, so post away! I would like to get the biggest bang for my buck, but if it is still around $1,000 that will help too because I can save like I said. Also if anyone knows of any scholarships/programs to get laptops for college students that would be awesome too!

    Thank you guys!

    $1800-$2000 budget (AU)

    Posted: 25 Apr 2018 03:38 AM PDT

Looking for something to game on, medium settings @ 1080p is fine for me (prefer 120hz), most new AAA titles. 15inch screen is preferred, not big on battery life. Wondering if anyone can give me some advice

(Not a fan of HP and Toshiba bad experience in the past)

    Cheers in advance

[~$850] Lenovo Legion Y520 or Dell Inspiron 7000 Series (college student and gaming)

    Posted: 25 Apr 2018 01:48 AM PDT

In the market for a new laptop after I just sold my old MacBook Pro.

Have my eye on 2 laptops at the moment and I can't decide between the two. I will be purchasing these at my local Costco. I am a member and can go pick the laptops up without having to order anything online.

First one is the Lenovo Legion Y520: https://m.costco.com/Lenovo-LEGION-Y520-Gaming-Laptop---Intel-Core-i7---4GB-NVIDIA-Graphics---1080p.product.100347159.html

Other one is the Dell Inspiron: https://m.costco.com/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Series-Gaming-Laptop---Intel-Core-i5---6GB-NVIDIA-Graphics---1080p.product.100397555.html

Right now I am leaning towards the Lenovo because for 800 you get an i7 with 16GB of RAM. (Its 799$ in store right now but says 850$ online) The only reason I am considering the Dell was because of the GPU being the 1060.

This laptop will be my everyday driver. I am a college student so I will be using it to browse the internet, watch YouTube/Netflix, use normal Microsoft Office programs. But I also will be doing some gaming on it which is one of the main reasons I got rid of my MacBook. The main game I play right now is CS:GO and Rocket League but I would like to venture in to more titles like Skyrim, PUbg, Fortnite, Witcher...

Another thing to note is that this laptop will mainly be used on an external monitor. I have a nice gaming Asus monitor with a Corsair keyboard and mouse I will be using with it. I will just take the laptop with me to class occasionally if need be- but mainly it will be docked under my desk.

So between these 2 and in the $850 price range, which one would you chose for my situation? I'm looking for the best all around PC for school work and daily tasks but also packs a punch for gaming and can be an enjoyable gaming experience (I'm a console player switching to PC gaming)

I just think for the price, the Lenovo with those specs is a steal but I don't personally know if I'd be able to tell the difference between the Dell. Although the specs aren't as great on the Dell, will there be a noticeable difference with the i5 vs i7 and less ram?

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

12-14inch, U.S./PA, $500, ArchLinux, looking for genuine SSD, sturdy, fanless, minimal laptop for Runescape at most.

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 09:20 PM PDT

Budget is $500, buying from Pennsylvania, U.S.

I want to get the best specs for my money, with battery being second priority. I do not care about form factor.

Weight and thinness are not very important to me at all, I am easily willing to have a chunky laptop.

I have built a lot of PC's but have never owned a laptop. This will be my main computer, I'd like to adhere to minimalism. I'm very interested in experimenting with Archlinux as a primary OS. I don't want two operating systems.

My preferred screen size is medium, more on the smaller size. I believe that is 12-14 inches? I would like the next step up from Chromebook size.

I want to be able to play Runescape, that's really it. So, graphics don't matter. I don't plan to run any specific programs, but I want this laptop to be really zippy. I don't want to have to wait at all for applications like my web browser to open.

I used to game a lot, but not anymore. I put no priority towards gaming beyond running Runescape (nothing). I would be willing to improve everything else at the total expense of gaming ability or graphical power.

I definitely want a genuine SSD, not eMMC. It can be as low as 32 gigs. An SD card reader would be useful. I do not want a touch screen or an optical drive. Also, I would really prefer if this laptop did not have a fan. I'm not sure how common that is though. I'd like this laptop to be minimalist.

I just want a lil peppy zippyboi. As long as it can handle reading online scholarly articles, word processing, and running Runescape (I'm on a kick that will probably end really soon tbh), that's enough. What's most important is that it's quick. I would like the screen quality to be good, but the resolution can be low as long as it looks nice/crisp. That's not a big deal though.

tl;dr looking for a quick, minimalist notebook to run Archlinux on. Gaming has no priority. The battery can be short lived, but not worthless. Let me know if you think I should get a Chromebook. Are they sturdy, quick, and Linux accessible?

Thank you so much in advance. Building a computer feels easy compared to buying a laptop. Seems like the market is a random shitshow with consumers at the whim of what manufacturers think they need. I've given myself a headache scanning Google and Newegg these past few nights.

Designer/Photographer/Video Editor/CADer In Search for a Laptop for Content Creation

    Posted: 25 Apr 2018 12:24 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $1,500-$3,500

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specifications for money, decent battery life (4-5+ hours at least)

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not very. Just needs to fit in my backpack.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. At least 15", 17" ok too

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Autodesk Invention, Fusion 360, Solidworks, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Indesign, Adobe XD, Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Illustrator, also looking to maintain compatibility for running VR. I'll be editing 4K footage and rendering it on this laptop a lot.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No gaming

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good keyboard and nice trackpad are nice additions but I mainly use my mouse and I'm not too picky about keyboards. 4K panel at least, with at least 100% SRBG and ideally 95%+ Adobe RBG. Color accurate display and 4K are of paramount importance. Would prefer ports including: SD card reader, USB C Thunderbolt. 32GB of RAM or more preferred with 16GB being the minimum.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've been looking at the Dell XPS but am slightly deterred that they only have a 1050 and 1050ti. Am I being too picky by looking for something with a 1060 or better? I've looked into Razer Blade and Razer Blade Pro's and while I'm slightly deterred by the price of the Pro, I'm even more deterred that there's no warranty beyond a year and have heard terrible reviews for long-term durability and usage.

    Portable Laptop for Video Editing

    Posted: 25 Apr 2018 12:05 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Any budget. As I use this for work, if it can help me get stuff done faster, the higher price tag is worth it. Philippines, but I can order online. Also traveling to Canada in August, so I can buy there.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2-in-1 would be nice, but if not, I can just use my iPad for drawing. Battery life is important as I work in cafes often. At least 5 hours. USB-C Charging is a plus, but as I understand, isn't possible for higher specced systems.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Very. I travel a lot and carry my laptop in my carry-on. Under 5 lbs is a must. Currently use an X1Carbon 5th gen, but it's too slow for what I need.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows or Mac, I need Adobe Premiere Pro or FCP

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Video editing around 15-20 hours a week. Light games like Telltale games. Occasisonal photo editing in Affinity Photo/Designer.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good keyboard would be nice as I write a lot of emails and business stuff.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Currently have a max-specced X1Carbon 5th gen, but I find that it stutters a lot when editing HD video. It's got to the point where I know I can double my productivity with a faster system. I also plan on eventually editing 360/4k video, so I probably need a 4GB GPU (future proofing as well). I'm looking at gaming laptops Aero 15x and MSI GS65 - both will be hard to purchase in the Philippines, but I can have them shipped/purchase in Canada. Another system I'm looking at is the XPS15 9570, but if I'm spending ~$2k on a laptop, might as well get a better video card, right?

Looking for a gaming laptop with modern cpu/gpu

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:49 PM PDT

I'll be upgrading from a surface pro 4. It just doesn't seem to cut it while gaming. I was heavily considering the surface book 2 since I really like the 2 in 1 form factor and the ability to remove the keyboard but after research it seems like it's not great for gaming.

Requirements: The new i7 8 series is preferred or i7 7 series CPU. At least a 1050 with 4gb at a minimum. 1070 preferred followed by 1060 6gb acceptable. 16+gb ram. 17" screen preferred, 15" screen acceptable.

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $1500ish, USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I love the idea and form factor of the 2 in 1 but my needs for this purchase are gaming with a modern (i7-8 or i7-7 series CPU and at least at 1050 but prefer a better dedicated graphics card.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Doesn't matter much.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows and maybe hackintosh for fun.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Optimal is 17", adequate is 15".

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Only gaming.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? AAA titles, kingdom come, far cry 5, portal 2. Best fps possible.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Nothing specific

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I often see brands recommended that I've never heard of or used before. If they are officially resellers I'm ok with it but I would need a company that has good and reliable support and warranty should anything go wrong.

CAN $400 - Small, LIGHT laptop for university

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:45 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: 400 Canada

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Battery life

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? THE MOST IMPORTANT

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. no larger than 14 as I need it to be light

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. no games, I have a laptop for that

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? none

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Able to type on so most likely 14 or 13 inch, I think 11inch would be too small for my large spidery hands

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I have a powerful laptop at home for anything heavy duty. Looking for something small that I can take notes on. I walk to school 30min each way so lightness is very important

Here are the ones I have been looking at (and where I would be purchasing them)

lenovo 120s (14 inch, off their website) this ones 64gb HD

ASUS L402WA-EH21 This is an amazon link (non afillate) only 32Gb HD

Hp stream I don't have a link but those ones that look like toilet seats in the candy colors I would probably just go pick up from London drugs or best buy in person

And of course open to any other suggestions

According to my research the i7-8550u is better than the i7-6700HQ (in my current laptop) in every category except multicore tests and base frequency. Would it be okay to go with the i7-8550u if I only occasionally edit videos?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 04:09 PM PDT

The laptop with the i7-8550u would also need a dedicated GPU because there's a GTX 960 in mine which I have been able to take advantage of while rendering videos.

I don't play video games on it so I don't really care about that. So I'm wondering if I were to find a laptop with an i7-8550u and a newer GTX graphics if that would be better than my current setup.

Looking for an upgrade to my laptop

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:30 PM PDT

Specifically, I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my laptop, and figured this would be as good a place as any to ask. I have a Dell Inspiron 7577, and would like to upgrade from 8GB of RAM to 16GB (I was saving for the 16GB model, but unfortunately situations changed and I needed to purchase immediately, which limited my options), and would like to know the best suggestion for upgraded RAM. Sorry if this isn't the right sub, I was just under the impression that r/buildapc was strictly for desktop builds.

$600 laptop with decent build quality. Other options besides Swift 3?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 03:39 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: US $600 max

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. No need for touchscreen, prefer good battery life

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Prefer lower weight, will have to carry often

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10 Home

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14 or 15.6

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Nothing intensive. I5 with 8gb ram. See below for more info

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No gaming

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Prefer no optical drive, prefer no numpad. Needs a decent build quality because I guarantee it will mishandled

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Prefer a new i5 with 8gb ram. If it doesn't have an SSD I will install one for her, either sata or m2, but i'd prefer it to have one installed so I don't have to move over the OS myself. I read the recommended laptops and searched for other laptops that have been posted previously. Looking at either the Acer Swift 3 14in ($549) or 15.6in ($599) at costco. Maybe the 15.6 asus ASUS VivoBook F510UA with the 1tb hard drive? My wife will take it to and from work everyday in her bag, and she needs to take it with her to meetings and such. She mainly uses it for Chrome, Excel and RDS- this allows her to view a virtual desktop hosted on the company's network where she can access files and do everything remotely. Does the MX150 in the 15.6 add weight compared to a laptop with no graphics? From reviews it looks like the 15.6 has a brigher screen and she does have to use it outside sometimes. She doesn't need dedicated graphics but the bigger screen might be worth the $50 in the swift 3. She has a 14 right now and would prefer a bigger screen but doesn't want too much added bulk with it. The Swift 3 with their wonky page up and down buttons next to the arrows really throws me off. I bought last year's swift 3 for my dad and he likes it.

2017 Razer Blade (Used) vs 2017 Aero 14 1050ti (used)

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 10:51 PM PDT

I'm looking for a 14 inch gaming laptop for school. I've already decided I want a 7700HQ over an 8550u mostly bc of the typical chassis you get with a 7700 and its additional cooling.

It will be used mostly for programming and I have to tote it to campus every day so I think a 14 inch is right for me but battery life is important to me.

I will eventually attach it to an eGPU for my VR sim racing rig but other than that light gaming is all it will do away from home.

I can get both refurbed / open box for around $1300. They both have same specs for ssd and ram at 512 and 16, respectively.

Which one seems like a better deal? Is there a model I missed in that same size / price?

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Mostly Emulator so FPS isn't a concern

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Not anything specific but, I do want to make sure it has reliable build quality as this would be a big investment

Good 4k laptop with discrete gpu

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:23 AM PDT

What laptop would someone suggest with a 4k screen, good battery life, and if possible a 1050 or 1060... my budget is around 1200-1500 but, I can go higher if it's worth it. Nothing to particular on brand or weight or thickness. Just as long as I'm not lugging around a cinder block.

I'm from the USA, I'm entering into my first year of engineering college this fall, I would like to play games such as overwatch and pubg in my spare time if possible, and I'm kind of a display junkie

AUS: Gaming Laptop around 14"(give or take) <$900AUD

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 09:26 PM PDT

Hey guys i currently have a Toshiba Skullcandy Laptop: Here are the specs:

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz

    Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500

    NVIDIA GeForce 930M

    Microsoft Windows 10 (build 16299)

    64-bitRAM 8.0 GB

With this laptop i play quite a few games and can only run all of them on low and still barely get good fps... For example i play rust and run everything on low and get like max 35 fps with fps drops. Pubg can barely run everything is run on the lowest of the lowest and i still get shit fps. Csgo is alright but still shit.. Etc you get the point.

I want to get a new laptop because this one is going to die soon because i fukd it up and im looking for one that is under $900 AUD which is around $700 USD..

I want something that can run these games fairly smoothly, i dont really care about the quality of the games that much but i just want minimal fps drops etc. I am pretty much looking for pure performance, dont give a shit about battery life etc. Would appreciate it if anyone good give me some recommendations because I'm so lost and don't want to get ripped off...

Wondering if 8g ram is enough? Also if i5 is enough? Maybe get an i7?

    [13", US, $300 ~ $500] Programming (mostly web development) + general use

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 08:53 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $300 ~ $500, US.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Battery life > best specs >> 2 in 1. I'd actually rather it not be a 2 in 1 laptop.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Mobility is important, as long as it's not fragile.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Linux. I don't mind installing it myself, but the hardware must be compatible.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Around 13".

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. For programming, VS Code, Chrome, command-line programs, etc. For general use, Internet browsing and video streaming services.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? It would be nice to be able to play some indie games (nothing high spec), but it's definitely not a determining factor.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A good keyboard and a reliable build quality.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Unfortunately, I cannot go over the budget. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post.

Lightweight 2-in-1 with discrete graphics, maybe LTE, two Thunderbolt ports, and good user-repairability?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 05:02 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

    $1500 USD, United States

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

I need a 2-in-1 with an active stylus for drawing.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Very important. 1.5kg is the max overall weight. I've found that light weight is incredibly important when using the device as a tablet.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

Windows 10, with Ubuntu compatibility mandatory.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Around 13" preferred. 15" is too awkward to use in tablet mode.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Adobe Lightroom and Premiere, so nVidia graphics with CUDA cores preferred.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Ability to open the case easily and replace SSD, RAM, and battery is necessary. Something like a Microsoft Surface where everything is glued together is out of the question.

Having a built-in LTE modem and GPS would be really nice.

Having a touchscreen and active stylus support is mandatory.

If the device charges through Thunderport and if it doesn't have discrete graphics, then TWO Thunderbolt ports would be ideal so an eGPU could be used in the future.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

    Thinkpad p50 for workstation?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 08:16 PM PDT

I am looking for a laptop that can get me through college. I will be needing to run Autocad for electrical engineering, Matlab, and be able to code c++ and other languages on it. I was looking at the Thinkpad because it was the cheapest laptop I could find with a Quadro GPU in it (necessity for Autocad). Anyway they range anywhere from 600-1100 for used ones on ebay here is an example P50 Ebay. I would like to know if there are any better workstation laptops out there for the price, or less.

Any suggestions for a new laptop for college?

My old Acer is kinda heavy to be lugging around campus everyday so something light makes the most sense. But something that isn't gonna make my wallet hate me, under $300?

    Cheap gaming and all-purpose computer.

    Posted: 24 Apr 2018 03:42 PM PDT

    USA, $500

My family is in desperate need of a computer, as the only one we have is about ten years old. We just need a computer that can run stuff, and especially download files like Word and Epic Launcher (Not necessarily to play Fortnite but rather to launch and make friends), but more importantly able to run Magic Arena, whose requirements can be found here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/mtgarena/faq

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $500 (the cheaper the better) and good ol' USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2-in-1 is not needed. I would order it battery life then specs.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Just needs to be light enough to carry places and thin enough to fit in a normal computer case.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. At least 14 inches

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Probably no CAD or editing. Mostly light gaming like MTG Arena or MTGO and maybe light editing, nothing too hardcore.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Just MTG Arena and maaaybe maybe Fortnite. I don't know FPS stuff but I don't care that much about it.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Biggest thing is reliable quality and durability. Our last computer lasted for ten years and hopefully this one will at least last a few years.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Some of my family member are iffy on buying from a company that isn't big-name, if that helps. And the requirements for Arena listed in link above are all must-haves.
