Installed it all correctly and now can find it. it wasnt in my PC so I looked to initialize it in disk manager and its not there. Edit: Thing just got worse. Tried something and then restarted was hit with the Bootmgr missing. Now I'm thinking the thing was DOA. And also that my HDD is a goner (I had a feeling, hence the SSD.) [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:04 PM PST This problem happened regularly to me a few weeks back, fiddling with things (turning power saver mode on in my radeon settings, manually setting fans to a moderate speed, changing monitors/cables/ports) got it to stop happening at all for weeks. Tonight it came back out of nowhere, having changed no hardware or settings during that time. It has done this in game, just web browsing, after five minutes, after half an hour, it's totally random. Happened half a dozen times tonight while I've been fiddling with things and testing usage. Happened during a game, again on a map load, again while web browsing, again 5 minutes into a different game. I've updated drivers, did a malwarebytes scan, cranked my GPU fan speed, changed monitors cables and ports... Weirdest thing to me is that all my inputs stop, if my GPU was just not outputting surely I could still talk to people and my keys would input? I'm about ready to tear my hair out. Card is an MSI r9 390 8gb only 2 years old, the rest of the rig is the same age, and it was a kit build so everything should play nice together and has had no problems at all for about two years. Also, although rarer, sometimes when typing a single letter can freeze like its being pressed resulting in "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww". I've tried different mice, keyboards. Bios upgrade, driver updates and two re-formats. After I format it works fine for a while until it doesn't. Pointing to some kind of update messing up something. A good friend of mine has been experiencing the same issues as me, yet we cannot find any information on it online. My friend was positive it was related to his mouse and bought a new one but of course it didn't solve the issue. Up until yesterday he was not experiencing any issues with keyboard input and last night it happened to him as well. | Posted: 17 Feb 2018 02:33 AM PST Whenever I have anti aliasing on, on any 3d game it lags a lot, and when I turn it off almost all the time I have visual artifacts I can't quite describe, I can only tell that almost every texture and almost every thing in the games become half pixelated and half transparent. | Phone fell, now hard bricked? Fixable? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 01:58 AM PST My Axon 7 slipped out of my hands and a fell. As it hit the ground I could tell it was bad. Screen was immediately stuck and the touch screen wouldn't react. After about 1-3 min the screen turned off, the LED lamp (top left) was flashing very fast - it was almost not noticeable and, additionally, it was vibrating uninterruptedly until the battery gave in. My computer was running both Fedora and Ubuntu until not so long ago (10 minutes ago). I switched over from Fedora to Ubuntu. And then I restarted my system to get back into Fedora but the boot loader menu doesn't show Fedora at all. Any idea what might have happened and how to fix it? It turns on and plays music but doesn't hold a charge. What I'm wondering aside from the overpriced Apple service, can I get it repaired and where would I go for that (since it is an older model specialised shops or online services?). Alternatively is there a way to extract my music from it. I ask because if the price is to high it doesn't make sense for me financially (I've been laid off for the winter). I don't want to get rid of it if I have the option though. I know at the time when I was using it there wasn't a way, or at least one I'd heard of. | Posted: 17 Feb 2018 04:17 AM PST My desktop is running Windows 8.1 with the following: Processor: AMD A10-6700 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 3.70 RAM: 12GB Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti A couple of days ago I started to notice sudden freezes with my system. Looking around online it seemed like the issue had to do with the most recent windows update not playing nice with various antivirus software so I uninstalled Avast until till it was sorted out. There was an updated on Thursday I believe and it ran for a full day without problems. Last night it asked to update before turning off and this morning when I went to go turn it on it immediately went to 'Diagnosing your PC' and declaring it couldn't turn on. I restored the system to its previous restore point which was just before the update and it came on. A few moments after being on the desktop it gave me the 'successful restore' message again, this time for a timestamp about 2 hours later than when I had turned the computer off. At the moment I'm not sure what to do but I'm not comfortable turning the PC off for fear it will lose it's marbles again. Is there any known issue I should be aware of? I tried looking online with my specs but it doesn't seem people are reporting anything just yet. I'm sorry if my information isn't very good, I'm not particularly tech-savvy in general. Posted: 17 Feb 2018 04:08 AM PST I'm thinking about making my own forum that has a better stance on the concept of "Freedom of Speech", which internet forums are not obligated to follow, since they're private entities. But, my forum will have a better placement on free speech and will not be an echo chamber with a pool of sameness but rather a platform full of diverse opinions, whether you are a liberal, conservative, atheist, agnostic, Satanist, Christian, etc... But, the problem is.... I just don't know where to start, to be honest... I mean, it seems like a lot of work trying to set everything up, getting a competent staff, programming, etc... I really need help with this to kickstart this project. I know it isn't going to be easy, but the best thing to do is to at least TRY. Now, I'm going to describe some details about this forum down here so that y'all can guide me:

Also, another thing is: how much will it cost to keep the servers up per month? I want my google Chrome searches to show results for my location--my zip code as I define it. It won't. It varies the zip code it uses, apparently based on my ISP using multiple zip codes in my large metro area. I am signed into google when I use Chrome and perform searches. I've set my home and work addresses for the Google account I use to the correct zip code in my city that I want used. But that seems to be irrelevant for Chrome. They use whatever location/zip code my ISP assigns to me for the time being rather my location. I don't want to share my location with google all the time, so I don't let it track my activity by location. That's an invasion of my privacy and that could be hacked. I'm not setting tracking as my default. I've tried using the "precise location" and "update location" features for google searches as google suggests to get Chrome to rest my location, but to no avail. What can I do to solve this problem? (And why the H doesn't google just let users tell it what zip code they want it to use and then just use as the default, unless the user changes it with a simple input? That's the normal thing to do, not the moronic programming they're using.) Can I do what I want to do, or is google trying to control this feature by making using agree to be tracked at all times? Unfortunately even in safe mode, I have precisely zero connectivity and as such, windows will not recognize my password (try as I might) so I am currently stuck in safe mode and locked out. Metered Ethernet still works, but it also prevents programs like Outlook from automatically syncing, so that's no good either. Haven't seen a newer working method yet and thought maybe r/techsupport had an idea. The computer is accessed remotely all hours of the day, so scheduling hours for the updates to take place isn't feasible either. I am using Windows 8.1, my Internet Browsers Firefox and Chrome both dont work properly. The browser loads it standard start up page. But if i try to click any website or if i try to manually enter an address i get the following message: Request Timeout The server timed out while waiting for the browser's request. i checked if a Windowsupdate is available, and there are two. i tried updating, but i got an error message there too: Error(s) found code 80072F78 i clicked on the windows help (get help with this error) only to receive the following "You're not connected to the Internet. Now I am connecting it to Windows 10 PC and the partition has no drive letter assigned to it and the only option that is not grayed out is delete partition, which I obviously don't want to do. Reformatting is a last resort but I do have access to another SLOW drive with enough free space. Ideally I'd like to avoid this step if there's a way to force it to assign a drive letter for example. Backstory Summary Over the last 6 months of litigation (elder abuse, dementia, trust) signs have occasionally appeared that the other side might have access to information which could only be accessed via hacking one or more of our personal computers. There has always been alternative explinations for how the information was gained, until this last weeks hearing. This is all taking place in a very small midwestern town which is exhibiting corruption, collusion, and harrassment (added for context).
*A partner in the ex-husbands law firm is married to the owner of the aforementioned software dev company. Specific Questions With all of this in mind we and our lawyers have concluded that the possibility of hacking must be addressed but do not know where to start. Keeping in mind we have a single small town lawyer (passionate and skilled but with limited resources) I am helping from a distance with support functions like this. I have a good knowledge of computers but in regards to hacking my skillset is limited to identifying abuse/use of passwords. With the external company now identified, no password abuse, and all passwords having been reset with 2-factor authentication I need to ask for help.
This is an incredibly difficult, emotional, and bitter litigation which is mainly affecting my parents whom I am trying to support via methods such as this. Posted: 17 Feb 2018 03:20 AM PST Problem is with a PC with Windows 10 So my brother bought a new HDD for his PC to extend storage for pictures and other files. He tried to link the documents library folders like "Pictures" "Downloads" etc from C:/ (SSD) to corresponding new folders in his D:/ (HDD). He followed this YouTube video to do it, but somehow proceeded to link the whole C/: drive to Pictures and Desktop libraries. It looks like THIS now. And when trying to link them back or revert the changes, it gives error that the path is invalid. Those folders show exactly the C:/ drives content, and when making changes in any of the folders it shows in every one of the C:/ folders including the original C drive. So if I delete the contents of the C:/ with pictures icon, it will also delete everything in the original C:/ drive. We need help to revert the changes, thank you in advance! [link] [comments]  |

But it seems like my computer is running on suprisingly low FPS. These are my specs: Motherboard: MSI Gaming M5 Z370 GPU: MSI GTX 1080Ti CPU: Intel Core I7-8700K (3.7 - 4.7 GHz) WC: NZXT Kraken X62 280mm RAM: Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL16 Ballistix HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB SSD: Samsung 850-EVO Series 500GB & Crucial M500 120GB PSU: Corsair RM750x 750W Tower: NZXT H700i (4x Fans) Monitor: ASUS ROG STRIX PG27VQ 27" 1440p 1ms Curved G-Sync I'm running The Witcher 3 with ultra-settings on 60-80 fps, and GTA V on about 70-100. Since I started using Win 10 I lost two systemdrive HDDs (one Seagate bulk, one WDred retail), after having the red fail last month (some 2 years of use), I now experience the 1500GB WD spining down when shutting off and while the platter stack is bleeding speed accelerate back up after the OS shut off the GPU/screen and speed down again. This obviously causes a lot of stress and I, probably understandably, really dont want this to happen. I write no tamper in the title because I have enjoyed the particular perks of moving my /user/folder off %windir% (which let me regain all of my program settings after the seagate failed), ripping out the bloat crApps and cauterizing the cortana-search plus xbox gamebar. WiFi drops every 10 min and when I attempt to reconnect, it keeps giving me a wrong password error, which is not true since it connects after a few reconnect attempt. The router brand is tp-link. Also his 5 year old Samsung Galaxy doesn't seem to be having this problem according to him.
