Newpipe beta has added soundcloud support

I downloaded a network monitor because my download speed is slow on my phone. I'm downloading from the play store at 40kbps average. Any ideas how to improve speed?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 05:38 AM PST

Other phones and my laptop on the same network do not have this issue. I even assigned my phone a static IP address because i thought there was some sort of interference.

    Any alternative to Cool Tool?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 06:19 AM PST

It's a great app, shows configurable system info in an overlay, but it lacks some features I'd like:

    • Ability to split the panel, ie have some text left-aligned and some right
    • Drop shadow or outline so text is readable on all backgrounds
    • More customization, such as the texts used by "network connection type" and the colours of "CPU frequency"

    Is there anything like this?

A weird app has appeared on my mom's phone. Can someone help identify it?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 10:47 AM PST

My Mom has a Samsung Galaxy S7, and yesterday her phone started having a weird RING screen. It had lights all around the outside and the REJECT button would bounce all around. After hitting either the Answer or Reject buttons, it would go to her NORMAL "Answer or Reject" screen where she would have to hit those buttons again. Then after the call, it shows who you just spoke to, but with ads on the screen. You can see both of these things in this link:

    https://imgur.com/a/A1dPo

I went through all of her apps and I can't find anything that would be doing this. It's never been there before, so we're wondering where this would have come from. Does anyone recognize this and can tell me how to shut it off/delete it?

    Call status floating widget?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 09:44 AM PST

On my old LG G2 a small floating widget popped up whenever a phone call was in progress. I was able to minimize the dialer and use other apps while I had one-click access to my call status. It was very convenient. Is there an app with similar functionality?

RSS Reader with decent multi-story widget

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 02:14 AM PST

I'm currently using Freely as an RSS Reader. Basicly just pulling new news stories from a variety of websites that I follow.

I like the general functionality but the widget is pretty disappointing as it only shows the last story over the top of the stories image.

So, I though It ask whether anyone would recommend a similar app that had a widget supporting multiple stories.

    Thanks

Is there any reddit client with a bottom bar interface?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 11:39 PM PST

Besides the official one all reddit clients I've tried stick with that sidebar interface which I'm not a fan of. Is there any client that uses a interface with a bottom bar that resembles the official one?

ATMS - Fitness Tracker (Version 1.6)

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 03:18 AM PST

Here we are with another release, sorry it's taken so long. I've had some issues which I didn't expect and then I've been ill for the last two weeks. I've literally sacrificed my social life for the whole week to get this done, so I hope you enjoy, change log is below.

    • As a side note, unfortunately existing users will have their database reset, which means they will lose all their data. Again this is a one time thing and I am sorry for any inconvenience, but in order to make the database faster and simpler this has needed to be done. The next update, I will add the feature to backup your data via email / google drive.

    Features the App brings:

    • Tracks nutrients i.e calories, protein etc
    • Tracks water intake
    • Food diary can retrieve information from database.
    • Or food can be added manually
    • Foods can be saved to avoid having to search again.
    • Log your exercises with the exercise mode.
    • Multiple workout routines can be saved and selected for exercise mode.

    So why ATMS?

    • 1. It will remain free (Yeah really)
    • 2. Very little information is collected (Only some to identify crashes)
    • 3. No ads are used yet.
    • 4. No account required.

How our app differentiates from others? This was asked by a fellow redditor, so let me just paste you my answer.

    Hello *******,

That's a good question indeed, allow me to try and answer this for you.

    • First let me begin by saying that my app is not just a calorie tracker, its a "Fitness Tracker" this basically means that it will have multiple features which you can use to track your fitness in one app. These features include:

    • Track foods consumed

    • Store your workout plans.

    • Log your exercises (weights lifted etc)

    • There are a few more features which I will be implementing as soon as the first public version is out, these include integration with Google Fit, android wear and fitness band support etc

    • Moving on, one of the main motivations for me creating this app was that various other competitors charged hefty subscriptions for some basic VIP features (I am a student, and only have a part-time job, hence budget is minimal) whether that is to track other nutrients like carbs and fat or provide them "priority customer support", which In my opinion is just not worth the money. Again nothing wrong with this strategy, they are a business after all. But the main disadvantage is that this completely side steps the other group which is the non payers. What does that mean? Well, first it means that non payers cannot track other important nutrients such as fats, which is extremely important due to the health implications which can be caused by over consuming this nutrient, therefore non payers have an increased risk of health implications of eating too many fats. Secondly, they are giving more priority to a certain group, therefore what they implement will benefit them more. Whilst, my aim is to provide for the whole group as one, whether that be features or excellent and quick customer support.

    • Another thing which I believe that sets my app out from the crowd is that the developer/founder (me) is a fitness enthusiast who uses the app on a daily bases. This means, that I share similar experiences with my users, hence the app is more likely to get relevant features (which people want) and get rid of things people hate about apps like sensitive data collection and annoying ads.

    • The last thing I'd like to say is that my apps aim is to Help users get healthier therefore expect to see various features implemented to fulfil this goal, e.g. a blog, daily fitness and health related tips, a forum to discuss experiences (which I will be a regular contributor of) and just a place to provide motivation for each other.

Thanks for reading and sorry for making this so long (was meant to be short lol).

So there you have it, why not take a look and send me some feedback :)

    Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=thedevelopera.android.com.fitnesstracker&hl=en

    Change Log:

    • A total re code of the app. (Wow I made it complex for myself)
    • Now using google recommended, libraries / best practises which have helped with performance.
    • Played around with the tone of the colour, tell me if you like it.
    • You can now actually add items from your saved tables.
    • Exercise mode has been completely redesigned, looks more simpler but performance has massively increased.
    • P.S reduced code by 13,000 lines :P

What the next update will bring?

    • Auto backup data.
    • A few minor code clean up
    • Other features TBC

P.S, I will now begin using the beta program to test new features out, so make sure you enrol!

If you have any questions, just post below.

    • Google Fit Integration, is currently being considered. I would like your thoughts on what you want my app to do. From what I can gather, I could modify the calories to be consumed if calories are being burn from exercising etc.

I have 2 accounts one for friends and one for work. And I have both apps on my phone the normal messenger and the lite version so that I'm always connected and I don't need to switch accounts all the time. The account that's on the lite app shows to other people to invite me to messenger. And every now and then it spams all my friends that I've joined messenger even though I've had the app and haven't really done anything to it. Is there a way to fix that somehow? I am using the latest version of the app.

I have tried reinstalling the app and it did nothing.

Heads-Up notifications for Instagram DMs are not working.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 11:51 AM PST

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but basically when I get an Instagram DM I don't get a heads up notification, just the icon on the status bar (w/ sound). Can't seem to find anything in the settings.

I'm running Official LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, but I've also used other roms, even with Oreo, and I can't really remember them working there.

Ironically, they were working on MIUI.

Heads-up are enabled and work for every other messaging (and not only) app. Anything I can do?
