I'm on apartment wifi and the router belongs to my roommate. Can they see all my traffic? Posted: 13 Feb 2018 08:07 PM PST Just theoretically, I honestly don't suspect anyone here, just curious. Would all traffic be visible? Would https connections be readable? What if I was using a VPN on my machine? [link] [comments] |
How can I unlock zycdeln files? Posted: 13 Feb 2018 03:07 PM PST Hi guys, I've noticed that some important files (photos, texts, videos) are apparently locked and I can't access to them. All of them have a weird format called zycdeln, I already tried deleting that part and it says that files are corrupted. Does anybody knows something about this? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
TV won't turn on, absolutely no reaction from it Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:57 AM PST My TV won't turn on after not having used it for 4-5 months. I've tried 5 different electric cables and none of them do anything. We tried replacing the "glass tube fuse" with a new one but that didn't help. I read online that a common issue is the capacitor, so I took a picture of it. https://imgur.com/gallery/gQKlT Do any of these look broken? Does this look alright? If there is no issue with the capacitor, what other reasons could there be that it won't turn on? There is absolutely no sound, no red light, nothing at all coming from the TV. The remote controller works fine it seems, it emits a red light whenever I push a button, but the TV doesn't react to it. The buttons on the TV don't work either of course. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:04 AM PST So, I have a B350M with an Ryzen 7 1700 and a GTX 1070 TI. 1 8GB RAM. All working fine for a month (built myself). Bios latest version. Suddenly, in the middle of a game, I get BSOD (THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED). Windows starts collection info and then restarts. And it fits again before the OS load and collects again... On loop. I turn if off. Then on again, now I get to bios but can't choose my SSD to boot: it doesn't show. Fine, I put in a USB with win 10 and restart. Now I can't even get to bios. Nothing shows on screen. Tried resetting CMOS, shorting the JBAT1, removing everything and trying to boot only with gpu RAM and CPU. Can't get to bios. When I turn it on, this is what happens: CPU and GPU power on, all spinning fine. EZ debug LEDs turn on and off one by one, and then stays on on he VGA one. So a problem with VGA? Then after a few seconds it restarts itself, the LEDs all turn on an off, now everything is off. On my screen I see two flashing "_" one below the other (first one than the other below) and no BIOS. AND THEN PC RESTARTS IT SELF CLEANSES AND REPEATS. Did something fry? Both GPU and RAM worked fine in another pc, and a GTX 970 from another Pc didnt work. Can anyone help? It was all fine and then boom [link] [comments] |
Getting a new computer, can I copy windows onto it? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 01:45 AM PST Is there a way to COPY Windows 10 onto a New PC that I am getting in the near future, I still want Windows on my old PC, as it is a backup, but is there a way? [link] [comments] |
OneDrive won't start at all on a new computer Posted: 14 Feb 2018 01:44 AM PST Hi. I have a customer who just bought a brand new HP ProBook running Windows 10 Pro. He's using sharepoint and onedrive to save documents etc. However, on this machine the OneDrive won't start at all. It doesn't show up in the tray neither. The computer is a member of a domain, but the user has local admin rights on the computer. What I've tried so far:
I have googled this issue a lot, and read about 20 different articles/threads on this all over the internet, but none seem to have the exact same issue as me. Most of them gets their issue solved by using the reset parameter. [link] [comments] |
QuickTime won’t install on latest windows 10 Posted: 14 Feb 2018 01:34 AM PST I get this error below The file ul_catalog.98CB24AD_52FB_DB5F_FF1F_C8B3B9A1E18E cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'QuickTime.cab'. This could indicate a network error (I'm definitely connected), or an error reading from the CD-ROM (I'm not using a CD-ROM), or a problem with this package I tried the common troubleshooting methods I've come across in my google searches, run as administrator, downloaded a fixed package and I've run out of what to do here. Posted: 13 Feb 2018 08:16 PM PST He has a "gaming " desktop pc with windows 10. When he turns on the computer it goes through the regular motions and takes you to the desktop. After about 10 seconds the screen goes blank with a system lock screen, see link. All I know how to do is a system restore to a previous date but when I try to do that in safe mode, it says there are no previous dates to restore it to, as if that function was never set up. What can I do to try to fix it. I am completely computer illiterate Edit: I failed to add that when I enter safe mode with networking the internet won't connect [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Feb 2018 07:28 AM PST At 5 AM, his (Dell) laptop started making an ear piercing alarm/ringing sound out of nowhere. It was not being used, it was in another room. I quickly retrieved it and he immediately turned it off by clicking out of something. He says he didn't read it to turn it off as quickly as possible. IIRC, the sound started with a jingle and then made what I believe is 5 beeps that repeated over and over until he turned it off. It could have been different, but I don't remember exactly. I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's not an alarm that he set. He uses his phone for that. I don't know how much time passed between the sound and the last time he used it. What caused it and why did this sound when the laptop was closed especially? [link] [comments] |
Realtek High Definition Audio Device drivers wont install? Posted: 13 Feb 2018 05:16 PM PST So I posted here looking for some Windows 10 reinstall help, which was solved successfully, but I've ran into another problem. Whenever I try to install the Realtek HD Audio Drivers from my Motherboard's included Disk, or my Manufacturer's website, it just won't show up in my device manager, leading me to believe it just isn't installing. The installer will come up and will complete prompting me to restart, yet after restarting my computer to finish it, I check my audio drivers in device manager all I see are "High Definition Audio Device" from Microsoft, and NVIDIA High Definition audio. (NVIDIA may be from my GPU?) Can anyone help me with this? Can provide more details if necessary, Thanks. [link] [comments] |
2 different 750w PSUs causing restarts when launching games, but an old 600w PSU works fine? Posted: 13 Feb 2018 10:04 PM PST Specs: In summary: PC with a 750w PSU works fine for 6 months then starts rebooting when launching games. replaced with a 600W PSU - works fine, replaced with a different 750W PSU - same issue. So about 4 days ago while playing a game, my PC rebooted itself and I got a screen saying the restart was triggered by the motherboard's anti-surge, I tried launching the game again and the PC restarts again as soon as the game started to load (though this time no error message) - try again with a different game (also on a different drive) and the same thing happens. So I figure it might be the PSU because of the anti surge thing - the PSU was an EVGA GQ 750W that I had used for 6 months with 0 issues, but I try swapping it out for a Corsair CX600 and I can play games fine. So I returned the EVGA PSU thinking it was faulty and swapped it for the Corsair CX750. When I installed the new PSU, the PC initially had some trouble booting, I think it was trying to boot from the CD drive and I could not get any video output. Tried disconnecting the CD drive, disconnecting all the external peripherals, replacing the GPU, replacing the PSU again, nothing, so I just put everything back how it was minus the CD drive and eventually I get video output and it boots to windows, though it took much longer than usual. Then when I try to launch a game it acted exactly the same as the old one - PC restarts. It has also restarted while I was just web browsing. Put back the CX600 again and it seems to work fine after another initial restart while loading windows. I originally replaced the CX600 because it was having a slightly similar issue where in one game my pc would restart consistently within 10 min, a few others it would restart occasionally after playing for a long time, and in one other game in particular loading a specific save file would cause a restart as soon as it finished loading. Most games didn't cause an issue, nor did I ever have problems with general use. The PSU I replaced it with (the EVGA GQ 750) did seem to fix it Run a memory check, virus scan, checked temperatures and they're all good. Kind of suspecting my motherboard's just being funny, it's pretty old and i'm probably gonna replace it regardless of it's causing the problem or not Other than that I'm completely stumped. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Huge Temp file folder after formatting Posted: 14 Feb 2018 04:00 AM PST I formatted my PC yesterday where I got rid of everything and then only installed two games (they should be together around 100gb? max?) but it says I have used 400gb already but that can't be right. So I checked and saw that it shows me that I have around 191gb of temp folders, tried to delete them via Settings > Storage but it still shows the same number. I did the whole windows key + r etc. thing to delete the temp folder manually, even got rid of the folder itself? But it still shows that I have 191gb of temp folders. I used CC Cleaner too but nothing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:50 AM PST Hi Redditors, I have a new PC and the GPU fan is pretty loud, even at very low loads (it never goes below 27% max RPM). The GPU is a full size Zotac-built 1060 6gb but is unbranded (see image at http://m.tigerdirect.com/products/4523287 ). Now, the Amp! Edition of this card from Zotac has a "Start-Stop" fan profile to turn the fan off at low loads. The question is, can I flash the BIOS from the Amp! Edition to get the Start-Stop feature? If so, how? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:36 AM PST Hey guys, so today I spent a good 10 hours upgrading to Windows 10, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why my computer just freezes after about an hour of being on. Nothing in particular seems to be causing it, it just feels completely random. I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to fix this. The only option I have left is that there's ONE driver that needs to be updated, but I can't even find the driver anywhere to install it. I'm using a program called DriverEase and it's telling me that I need to update/install my Intel(R) watchdog timer driver. I cannot figure out where this driver is. I'm using an MSI H97 gaming 3 MOBO. I can't find it anywhere on the MSI driver page. Unless it's worded differently or I'm just stupid. Can somebody please help me out, and could it be a possible cause for the random freezes? I understand it's a chipset driver, but I'm unaware of how important it is. The MOBO is second hand from my brother who only used it for about 3 months before he decided to update his RAM to DDR4. I don't have the driver installation disk so I'm doing everything manually. TL;DR: windows 10 freezing randomly, tried everything except stuck on one thing, need help locating drivers for intel(R) watchdog timer for MSI H97 gaming 3 MOBO. Could this be the cause of freezes? Anyone know what "Cebculttharagh" is? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:31 AM PST I found a folder in Program Files (x86) called "Cebculttharagh," it sounds a bit weird, does anyone know what it is, or how it may have appeared on my computer? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:27 AM PST Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but I'm not sure where it would need to go. So I have a question. I run a small chain of fresh and dynamic hair salons (there's 5 shops in total) and we're moving into a more modern way doings things. At the moment each shop has 3 desk tops and a laptop which are mainly used for admin purposes, doing accounts, marketing etc. and the information is stored individually on them, not saved on a network or anything. As we're continuing to grow, we need to connect them all together because not only do I have hairdressers working between shops, sometimes clients go to one of our other shops too, depending on where their hairdresser is working that day and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing so to speak. Each salon supervisor is handling their own admin individually and we need to be all on the same page. At the moment everything is organised via email, text or phone call which is becoming a nightmare. How do I manage all 5 sites? People are talking about the cloud, is this what we need? Because to be honest, I'm sick of all the hassle that is coming about with having so many computers and none of them talking to each other. How much is this sort of thing going to cost us? Posted: 13 Feb 2018 09:19 PM PST Hi Techsupport, I have a problem with a desktop PC that has been driving me crazy in the past 2 weeks. Pieces:
Operating System:
The problem: Computer suddenly stopped working. After correct shutdown it wouldn't start the next day. Symptoms:
Things that I have try:
Some ideas: Looks like the motherboard isn't getting enough power. The PSU fan stopping tells me that it doesn't know the computer is on or is some kind of safety feature like it knows there is a shortcut or something. I think there is something wrong with the CPU or motherboard, but not sure which one. Any pointers or ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
If my laptop only has a 128GB SSD could I use a Micro SD + Adaptor as extra storage permanently? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:17 AM PST So basically if my laptop has limited space, could I potentially buy this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073JYC4XM/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_GJbHAb5ED3CH5 And just use it as permanent extra storage for files/videos/music/etc? As opposed to upgrading my hard drive? Would I be able to just slot it into my laptop and keep it there? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:06 AM PST So basically I have put this on a few forums already so instead of typing it all out again I figure I will just link to one of the posts and then check for replies here and there and everywhere hahaha I seriously am stumped on this issue. Here is a link to the post with write-up of the problem and what I have done so far....appreciate any help I can get! [link] [comments] |
How to reinstall a microphone driver? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:04 AM PST A long while ago I was having trouble with my microphone, as I wasn't able to get my PC to recognize it. I tried many solutions, none worked, until I came across one that told me to delete and reinstall the driver. I tried it, but could never figure out how to reinstall it and still cannot to this day. If there's any way that doesn't involve a factory reset or any sketchy software (I'm not confident in my ability to not download a ton of malware on accident, I'm pretty bad with computers.) Any help would be greatly appreciated as access to a microphone is pretty crucial to some projects I'm planning on in the future. [link] [comments] |
