Anyone replaced TN panel on Dell Inspiron 15-5577 with iPS panel? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 02:06 PM PST I recently got a Dell Inspiron 15-5577 on Black Friday, and I notice that compared to my nice big IPS monitor on my main rig the viewing angles are garbage. I'd like to replace the TN panel with an IPS one, but I'm having issues establishing which IPS panels are compatible (I'm not sure if I can trust various replacement parts sites as they seem to be offering exact replacements, i.e. - crappy TNs) Thanks a bunch in advance. [US] Have $800, looking for light gaming laptop. Good Build quality is more important than power. Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:10 PM PST Would love suggestions. Design and durability are more important than raw power, but would like a gpu at least on par w/ the MX150 or 960mx. Was looking at the Acer Swift 3, really like the aluminum shell but was scared away by non-upgradeable ram. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Laptop for programming for £500 or less? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:14 PM PST Hey, what's the best bang for buck for programming in this price range? So far I've found this Acer Aspire 3 but I'm not sure if it's my best choice. Something with a quality keyboard would be preferred. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Laptop mostly for work and casual gaming Posted: 27 Dec 2017 04:34 AM PST Hi there, I'm planning on buying a laptop to use at university (im stydying engineering) but also to play casually some mmorpg games that are really old (2007-2009). Im looking for a 13" screen, light weight, goos cpu (since i'll be using a lot of solidworks), 8gb of ram, fast memory (i dont care that much about capacity), and ofc good temperature management. My budget is 650€ and for that price range i've found this one that honestly looks amazing: h ttps://m.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_648196.html?wid=21&lkid=11590484 Any other suggestions? In the market for a laptop; first time in 7 years; Advice needed Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:59 AM PST I have been using a mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro as my daily driver for the past 7 years. It is undeniably on it's last legs and have decided to purchase a new laptop; it is time. I am not married to iOS. I enjoy it, it's what I've used this whole time...however, I have a desktop I built myself and have no issues with Windows 10 either. Likewise, the MBP has been the ONLY product I own within the Apple Ecosystem and that will hold true. I have been browsing around replacements and I seem to keep coming back to either 2017 MacBook Pro 13", Lenovo Yoga 920, or HP Spectre x360. I know at this point, opting between iOS or Windows will be very personal preference heavy, but I have a few other thoughts I'd appreciate some feedback on:
I plan on having this laptop for quite some time, so I am hoping to do m due diligence. Will be used for typical browsing, watching videos, work related tasks(MS Office, Photoshop, Web Design), and I have just recently gotten into programming/WebDev, so that as well(Heard Mac is usually better for this cause of the whole Unix thing?) Since I have the desktop build mentioned earlier, gaming isn't exactly a priority for the laptop. Price is not an issue. I am willing to make the investment in a quality device that will last me years and years to come. Any helpful guidance would be great! Will really appreciate some feedback. Thanks! Any reviews on this laptop? price seems really good for the specs - if not too cheap Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:22 AM PST So looking at a very portable laptop for travelling that I can also video edit on and been going through more laptop models than I can count. Just stumbled across the Lenovo Ideapad 320s and it seems really cheap whilst boasting what appears to be very high spec? Any advice would be very much appreciated! [link] [comments]
I want a quality Laptop that i can run linux on Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:11 AM PST Hey guys, I'm looking for a large screen (At LEAST 15", larger preferred), something fast, and something secure and more private if possible (Unless that doesn't matter if I am running linux anyway?). I know privacy is never 100%. Something quality that will last a couple years. The times I had an apple laptop - chromebook - I really liked it better than any pc I've ever had, But computer expert is recommending the business class HP or Dell models and says that it's a completely different quality than the stuff you can get in stores (which he admits is shyt). What do you think, and please say why you like/don't like it so I can decide for myself. Thanks guys! [link] [comments]

How likely is it to get a “defect” aero 15? How does replacing it work? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 04:43 AM PST Never bought anything that would be replaced. I am talking about amazon. Is it an easy process? I've never even called a customer support in my life , very worried about this lol. Thank you for the responses. [link] [comments]

Which would be the best for Sims 4? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:56 AM PST I have two laptops to choose from. I want to have lots of custom content and a few mods. But I still want the gaming to be smooth and if possible in Ultra settings. The two laptops are: Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop - 15.6" Full HD, Core i7- 7700HQ, 8 GB RAM, 1000 GB HDD + 128GB SSD, GTX 1050, Metal Chassis - i5577-7359BLK-PUS And Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-52R1 15.6" Laptop Computer - Black; Intel Core i5-7200U Processor 2.5GHz; Microsoft Windows 10 Home; 8GB DDR4 RAM; 256GB SSD [link] [comments]
Should I wait until summer 2018? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:54 AM PST I was wondering if it would be better to buy a computer later since I don't need one yet. I suppose the prices would drop down and new computers will come out by that time? I do kind of want to buy one already because my computer is old, it's still functioning properly though so no rush for me really. Should I just wait? [link] [comments]
Dell XPS 15 or HP Omen - General Purpose laptop in India. Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:39 AM PST Based on my requirements below and the availability in India, I've narrowed down my search to the Dell XPS 15: https://www.compuindia.com/new-xps-15-xps157165124sp1.html or HP Omen 4k: https://www.hpshopping.in/omen-by-hp-15-ce074tx-2gd84pa-2.html I know the build on the Dell is probably much better, but the HP seems to be giving so much more. What do you guys think? My biggest concern with both laptops is the screen quality.

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:36 AM PST Hey guys, would you choose the flex 5 or yoga 720. I am currently in engineering and will be using the laptop for note taking, 3D programs, and coding. The only spec difference that I can see is that the yoga 720 has an 1050, larger ssd (noHDD). The flex 5 claims to have a higher battery life, and includes an HDD and SSD but has a 940mx. Both models are 3840x2160. The yoga 720 costs $1750 and the flex 5 costs $1600. I like a laptop with a good keyboard and sturdy build. Which laptop should I go for. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:52 AM PST Hey guys, been researching new laptop for school & decided on going with an Acer E15, but there are a couple versions of the computer, as well as upgrade accessories I want to use, but I'm having some trouble deciding what the best option for me is. I am starting at my local community college working toward an AS in Gen. Ed w/ Natural Science focus right now, so I don't have any extremely demanding classes, just your basic "101" level classes. I also like to do a bit of gaming here & there. Nothing too consistent, but when I find a game I like, I grind on it for a week or two, and I do this maybe 2-3x per year. I'd like to be able to play the Arkham games, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Origins, and similar games, even if it is on reduced graphics settings. Again, I'm not a hardcore enthusiast gamer & don't care about Ultra 4KHD 10k FPS right now. I also have a lot of music & a few movies on my current computer and would like to have it all transferred over, but with Spotify being a thing, I could probably select my favorite 150 albums to save onto the HD or an external SD. Below you'll see the 3 bundle options I've planned out, weighing some pros & cons of each bundle, and I 'd like to see if anyone has anything to add, or maybe mention something I may not have considered. I appreciate you taking a look. Ultimate Acer Bundle - $825+tax = $880 -Acer E15 w/ i5 core, 8GB RAM, 256SSD, GeForce MX150 graphics card + 256GB SSD on board + added 2nd 240GB SSD, total 496GB SSD storage +added 8GB RAM, totaling 16GB RAM +1TB Portable HD +wireless mouse cons: cost. Approaching $900, this is really stretching the budget & potentially leading to better out-of-box options pros: This setup will give a lot of technological headroom, will run smoothly and quietly, easily handling all but the most demanding tasks. Will tackle all kinds of programs from Photoshop, Video Editing software & will even play games at respectable performance levels (bearing in mind, this is NOT a pro gaming system.) With all on-board memory being SSD, there are no moving parts, and will prevent overheating. With proper care, this laptop should last min. 3 years of college coursework, or may be re-sold with an above-average resell price. With the added SSD & External HD's in this bundle, it's possible to have backups of backups & allow easy access of files across other computers. Another benefit of the secondary SSD & External HD is that they are removable storage, so the I can simply remove the drives to use in a new & return the laptop back to factory condition if I was to sell/replace it at a later date. Pro Acer Bundle - $695+tax = $698 - Acer E15 w/ i5 core, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GeForce 940MX graphics card +added 4GB RAM stick for 12GB RAM total +added 120GB SSD for OS migration +wireless mouse pros: Similar performance value as the Ultimate Bundle, but compromising a few key features to net a $180 savings. In this bundle, the laptop ships w/ 1TB HD on board. I've add a 120GB SSD so that I can transfer the OS onto it to reduce startup times & improve OS efficiency. This frees up the on-board 1TB HD for documents, programs & other data, and an external HD can be added at later time if desired. With 12GB RAM, the user should have plenty of processing headroom for most any task. May experience lag if using too many programs and/or browser windows open. cons: 1TB HD is not portable & is less efficient than SSD. May cause some noise & a slightly higher running temp. Could potentially experience lag when using a lot of programs, or gaming. Core Acer Bundle - $505+tax = $540 -Acer E15 w/ i3 core, 4GBRAM, 1TB HDD, integrated graphics +added 4GB RAM stick for total 8GB +added 120GB SSD for OS +wireless mouse pros: cost. At about $550, this is a beefed-up solid work machine. Standard SSD upgrade means fast boot-times & general OS efficiency. Will power through web-browsing with ease & still has the strength to run most commonly used programs. cons: low on-board RAM requires upgrade. no portable HD. No dedicated graphics card means limited gameplay. [link] [comments]
Hinges on my 2-in-1 laptop (table, laptop) are a bit rusty, what to do? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:44 AM PST I recently started using my laptop as a tablet for the first time. The laptop itself is like 2 years old. I hear a noise when I change it from Laptop to tablet and I'm not sure what to do. It appears that different models go about this differently. I have a question regarding sSD Instal Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:12 AM PST Hello, my first ever SSD just arrived, and I am really have no patience to install it. I have a ASUS N551JK running Windows 8.1, I want to instal the SSD in the prime slot and use it for OS etc, and my old HDD should go in the cd-rom slot I have the caddy and all. My question is will I be able to boot windows and use it and move data between the two after I have moved it to the cd-rom spot? I don't have much space left in the HDD and I have to move some stuff back and forth until I can format it and instal the OS on the SSD. [link] [comments]

Data transfer from built in 32GB SSD to new internal 128GB SSD. Posted: 26 Dec 2017 11:20 PM PST The new SSD comes with a migration software but how will I go about this? Should I clone the contents of the built in SSD and put them on the newer SSD, then set the newer SSD as the main drive? [link] [comments] |
