    Hey guys,

Smartynote Pro is a notepad app with features like Image to text (Optical Character Recognition), Speech to text, Text to speech. I published this app few months ago. Although, i made this app for people struggling with dyslexia but i was surprised to see general audience enjoying this app as well. The app is currently sitting at about 10,000 downloads with 4.4 ratings. However, I think i am somewhat succeeded with the goal i had for this app - to reach and help audience with dyslexia. I am really glad that my app actually helped the audience. I am amazed at the positive response of the people and praises and compliments from the emails that i get is worth more than any money in the world. So, guys check out my app and give your feedback and if you have any questions regarding me and my app. Feel free to ask

    Thank you

[DEV] WallClaimer: change the wallpaper of your friends

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:37 AM PST

    Hi all,

A friend & I made an Android application with which you can change the wallpaper of your friends. This is especially nice during the holidays. For example : you can take cute pictures and send it to your loved ones.

This is our first attempt at an application (we are still in college), so the application has still a few rough edges. We would like to hear what you think of it.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bluehouseprojects.org.wallclaimerV2

(Suggested improvements from friends (will come after exams) : - add a facebook login - pick how wallpaper will position on the screen - keep who you have sent the pictures to - a do not disturb mode, during work for example -> go back to default )

Thanks in advance for having a look and/or saying what you think of it :)

[Edit: you can add me on WallClaimer, username = friend. I'll send you reguraly new wallpapers of some cool photos I've taken or received via the app.]

[DEV] Big Updates to my Netflix Guide - Nearing 100k Downloads

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:48 AM PST

Hi guys, I run a free Netflix Guide app on Android. I'd love it if you'd consider trying it out and massively appreciate any feedback.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.streamsidekick.whatsonnetflix

I've recently been putting a lot of effort into making improvements after receiving a ton of great feedback from a lot of Netflix users around half a year ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/NetflixBestOf/comments/6r5ssz/meta_i_created_a_netflix_guide_app_on_android/). I genuinely want this to be the best "Netflix helper" app out there and actually believe we're about there - but of course I always want to push to make it better.

The main idea of the app is to show the most popular titles on Netflix for your country, without any of Netflix's "personalised recommendations". While the recommendations are often great, it's crazy how much Netflix has which most of us don't know about. We also show all new titles added each day.

    I've recently worked on:

    • Making all of our lists quicker and more responsive (loading screens used to take a while sometimes).
    • Genre categories (top movies / shows).
    • A watch button (so you can open directly into Netflix - never thought of adding this at the beginning for some reason).
    • Adding more country support. We have a whole range of countries now (North America, South America, Europe, a bit of Asia - looking to add more whenever requested but it is difficult).
    • An ad-free upgrade (a lot of you requested this so added it in, and also reduced the amount of ads that are shown).
    • Improved the 'Recently Added' list.

    Next Plans:

    • I want to add some kind of watchlist, so you can easily favorite titles and then come back to them later.
    • Possibly some kind optional notification reminder that'll tell you how many new titles have been added each day.
    • And a few other things which I don't want to disclose quite yet.

Again, really appreciate any thoughts / opinions on how I can make this better. Thanks!

Also, should I turn it off for certain apps like financial stuff or is it safe like that?

    [REQUEST] Personal gym trainer app

    Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:02 PM PST

I'm getting back into the gym, and I'm looking for an app where I can put in the equipment available at my gym, and it tells me exactly what to do, and lets me log the weights/reps.

I'm doing C25K with RunDouble and it's great; it tells me exactly when to walk and when to run. No thinking involved. That's pretty much what I want out of a gym app: "Now go do 10 reps at 80 lbs. on the row machine. Now do 5 dips." etc. Does anything like this exist?

If it's low on size and works offline that would be much appreciated.

App to download or print Facebook messages?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:03 AM PST

My mom talks to my grandma on Facebook chat. They used to use AIM, and my mom could make a PDF of those convos to email to my Grandma for her to print when they were done so my Grandpa who can't make it to the computer to read the convos.

Well now they're using Facebook messenger because it's the only other one my Grandma, who lives in another country, knows how to use.

The problem is I can't find a way to print them out and make a PDF that she can email to my grandma.

Any ideas beyond apps would be much appreciated.

[HELP] Spotify auto pausing. Anyone have an idea?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:00 AM PST

It seems to be when I switch between the Bluetooth in my truck and my Bluetooth headphones. When i hit play, it plays for a fraction of a second and then pauses again. Force closing or full phone restarts don't help. The only thing that works is clearing cache and data, but then i have to download my library again.

Is there any app that can legitly recover deleted photos/videos without having the device rooted? I've been trying multiple apps but none of them worked for me. I don't want to root my phone either.

I decided to ditch Textra for signal...

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:05 PM PST

Textra was starting to feel stale after using it for so long. Signal seems to be a smoother experience so far and has a few more features /security perks... I like how it auto themes different convos for you... Idk. Plays nice with pushbullet, too. Give it a shot if you haven't already

    RadioS2S - Sweet ad-free radio app with 100 downloads

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:49 AM PST

A nice app for radio & world music lovers - no ads, open source, simple but functional and Netherlands made. You can browse by style, language or country - from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. No glossy UI or overkill of useless options, just a great app.

Is there not a single, decent, VR-Video player that is compatible with Google Cardboard?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:33 AM PST

The play store seems to be flooded with horrible players that cash in the VR trend (by using adverts), but I still failed to find one that checks the basic needs of a player. I've tried almost then, but they had varying degrees of awful UX or UI.

A basic VR player should have the following functionality working in VR:

    • Pause/Play
    • Skip to Certain Area on Timeline
    • Recenter View (!)
    • Don't show content sideways

    A good player should have:

    • Volume Control
    • The possibility to select other videos without taking the headset off
    • Follow basic UI/UI guidelines

Is there one that would at least ticks the basics and doesn't crash?

[REQUEST] A battery app that actually counts the time an app has been used.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:31 AM PST

I use accubattery for everything else, but it doesn't show the time a particular app has been used, between 2 charge cycles (x to 75). I do not take it up to 90% which is where the android counter resets.

    Any help?

    Budget: - 1 dollar.

Dev question about forking a GPL app

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:35 AM PST

    Hello,

Let's say that recently, a developer has made a dick move and released a Pro version of his app, making some features that were available for free previously now disabled, under GPL license. The whole code is on GitHub.

Am I allowed to use his code and publish a new app on the Play Store having all the features including the pro ones, as long as my fork's code is publicly available? I don't plan on making any money with it.

    Thank you!

Suggestion for app that can password protect videos, photos and files with fingerprint unlock?

Any apps like Newpipe/SkyTube but for Twitter? As in an all that would allow me to follow accounts without having a YouTube account myself?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:55 PM PST

EDIT: title should read "Twitter account", not youtube

Was wondering about this recently, I use Twitter mostly to read news and look at art stuff, I don't actually tweet anything personally so I figured I could look for an app like Newpipe but for Twitter: just follow accounts I'm interested in and see relevant tweets on a feed without needing my own Twitter account.
