    Phone service question

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 06:15 AM PDT

I want to purchase the REALME GT NEO 3 NARUTO EDITION on Giztop.com but I do not know the compatibility with carriers in the US with this phone. I've spoken to their customer support and they have left me with this information.

This phone supports the following network bands, please confirm with your network provider before placing an order: NETWORK GSM, WCDMA, TDD-LTE, LTE-FDD, 5G networks

    BAND 5G: NR_NSA n77/78/40/41(2496-2690MHz)/1/3/5/8, NR_SA n78/40/41(2496-2690MH; 4G: LTE FDD:B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B18/B19/B26/B28a; 4G: LTETDD: B34/B38/B39/B40/B41(2515~2675MHz); 3G: WCDMA:B1/B2/B4/B5/B6/B8/B19; 2G: GSM:850/900/1800/1900; CDMA: BC0

I do not know much about this and if anyone can help me narrow down my carrier options for this phone in the US it's greatly appreciated! I use Visible mobile but I'm willing to switch carriers for this phone if necessary.

    cloned McDonald's app not working

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 07:45 AM PDT

Heya. A couple days ago i tried cloning the McDonald's app, the issue is that after opening the cloned app it doesn't work and says that it's because "the app has been downloaded from a source different from the Google Play store". Is there any type of workaround to fix this? I've used the native Xiaomi cloning feature.

Your organization has blocked your account - Work Widgets

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 06:49 AM PDT

We suddenly have a bunch of users who can no longer use their work widgets on their Android phone. We have changed nothing on our end. The main apps still work, just the widgets are broken. Thoughts?

Samsung: Anyone know how to get rid of the blue line under the 3 dots in split screen mode?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 02:12 AM PDT

I have an S22 Ultra and my previous S10e didn't have this. I personally don't like it, it gets in the way when hitting the URL bar and honestly, I have no idea why they don't just incorporate the 3 buttons the blue line creates into the 3 dots... The 3 dots current have only 1 button associated with it. Why not just put all 3 buttons into it?

Anyways I don't need any of those 3 buttons, how do I get rid of it?

Appeared online but I was on Airplane mode.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 10:17 PM PDT

    Hi everybody,

My friend told me she saw me online on messenger, but I was on airplane mode all night, no WiFi activated, and I do not have Facebook open I another device. I'm kinda scared, I saw that Messenger can be bugging but not when the phone was turned off or airplane.

    Thanks in advance

    Phone gets unknown notification sounds

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 04:30 AM PDT

My colleague is having problems with her Oneplus Nord CE 5G. At random moments, when she opens the phone, she starts getting unknown notification sounds. Sometimes there's 2 notifications in a row, at other times it can be 5-6 times in a row. Neither me and my colleagues recognize the sound and there's no notification message.

I've skimmed through the apps that she has installed and I've disabled notifications on some apps from system settings that I don't recognize myself. I've also disabled notifications from Google Chrome and closed all of her tabs, since I first thought it was some website that's sending these.

I have also enabled notification history from the system, but the history doesn't show anything out of ordinary.

I've also tried anti malware app but it shows that the phone is clean.

    What else can I try?

Android bootloops (Samsung A50) and displays "Can't load Android System. Your data may be corrupt" after updating firmware

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 04:30 AM PDT

The phone's been stuck on the 2019 version and I updated it to a much recent one. Right after the update, the issue started appearing and I couldn't access my phone no matter how many times I reboot it. Is there any way to fix this? My last resort would be doing a factory reset but I haven't done any backups on my data and I don't want to lose them

I'm not sure if this helps but here's the recovery logs:

    /cache/recovery/last_log

    /cache/recovery/last_kmsg

    /cache/recovery/last_history

    /cache/recovery/last_avc_msg_recovery

    /cache/recovery/last_log. 1

    /cache/recovery/last_kmsg. 1 (both log. 1 and kmsg. 1 repeats for 9 times)

I was using Smart Switch to update it as it was an easier option. My bootloader is unlocked and I tried to install ADB but my PC couldn't detect the device when I type in "adb devices" on command prompt

    Rooting an old device

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 03:19 AM PDT

I've just got an old Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, but considering it's on android 4 i'm not letting it near the internet until i know it's at least somewhat patched. So I'm intending to put AOSP on it.

That said, I've never rooted my phone before. Back when I used an android I just stuck with the manufacturer's flavour of android. I'm not a beginner when it comes to linux and building software, though, as I sometimes have to for my job. (admittedly those are not operating systems, though).

In looking into how to stick AOSP on the tablet I found this: https://www.androidauthority.com/build-custom-android-rom-720453/ and would like to clarify several things:

    1. " Obtain proprietary binaries " - do I just go to samsung's support page and download the latest firmware available for the device?
    2. " Choose a target " - the listed targets only include pixel/nexus devices. I presume I use the binaries i obtain in the previous step to specify a target, but I'm not clear on how I pass the binaries to lunch.
    3. Memory requirements - 400GB of disk space for vanilla android? is there any easy way to cut that down? (this is more a complaint than a question)

Would really appreciate any help y'all are willing to give. Thank you!

    reset phone without factory resetting?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 05:52 AM PDT

IS there a way to basically factory reset a phone without factory resetting?

I want to make my phone appear as if it has been factory reset.. like clearing all user data, and cache and certificates.

Is this possible? To the point where my phone looks new to the perspective of an app?

    thanks

Deactivate "quick connect" or whatever it's called

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 03:46 AM PDT

So a week or two ago, I had to re-register my headset to my phone because, well, bluetooth. My headset, formerly known as "headset" was now known to my mobile as "headset of u/feierfrosch" (or similar, my mobile is in my local language).

Apparently, that's due to google's "quick connect", so I can "add it to other devices" for "ease of use".

Seriously: I don't like this "feature", I don't want it, and I don't f***ing need it. This headset is dedicated to my phone and no other device, and I do not want it "registered to my account for easier use" or however else they paraphrase "even closer surveillance".

Is there ANY way to opt out of this crappy function?

Android doesn't have popup notifications like iOS?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 01:39 AM PDT

    Hi there.

Allow me to ask this silly question.

Just switched from iOS to Android and got surprised that when I'm using the phone (not on lockscreen) I don't receive any popup notification with a sneak peek to the content just like in iOS. I only get sound alert and the app icons on the top of the screen, and need to swipe down to see all the details. Is this common for Android? or do I need to enable anything in the setting first?

Weird very transparent square appears at the bottom of my screen.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 11:55 AM PDT

I'm not sure what it could be, I don't think anything is broken, I'm just curious as to what may be going on.

So it's a slightly rotated square that almost looks like it was designed to be a logo, and I seem to only be able to notice it on white screens. It doesn't show up on screenshots so I'm not entirely sure what that could mean.

It happened when I was outside twice, it kind of sounds weird but its almost like "glow in the dark" kind of thing. The screen being out in the sun it appears but once inside it slowly fades.

Could it just be the device getting to warm and I'm seeing some inside piece of the phone through the screen?

Edit: a little more information if it helps it's pretty much right where you'd imagine the button to take a picture is in the camera app. And is roughly the same size.

"K-9 Mail cannot reach network" / "K-9 Mail kann das Netzwerk nic…"

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 01:21 AM PDT

Since a few months a friend of mine can't fetch their mail using K-9 on a "Xiaomi 21081111rg" aka. "11t". The message is (German):

"K-9 Mail kann das Netzwerk nic…" (end of screen)

    "Tippen, um Einstellungen zu ändern"

    "Zulassen"

There is a dark blue circle icon to the left with a white drop. No app on that device looks similar. The message will only show once after booting while trying to fetch mails using SSL. It's not clickable and it will disappear by itself. K-9 cannot reach the mail server (off cause). There is a security app and Kaspersky free, but both don't seem to offer anything beyond the system menu for the app. All permissions seem to be allowed.

The device is on WLAN, other devices on the network can connect to that same server.

S22 Ultra - Auto connect to bluetooth headphones when turned on

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 12:06 AM PDT

I cant get my Samsung S22 Ultra to automatically connect to my bluetooth headphones (B&W P7 wireless), when the headphones are turned on. I have to enter bluetooth settings and tap the headphones before it connects. This was never a problem on my Samsung S8. I'm running Android 12.

    S7 boot loop, freezing

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 12:03 AM PDT

My Android 8 S7 started acting up when I woke up today. I didn't have any notifications and my battery saver was telling me my Twitter app was having 120 errors a hour. Other apps wouldn't work either and would just crash. I decided rebooting it might solve the issue but since then when the phone turns on it freezes after a few interactions. With safe mode I can get that to last a few seconds longer but it still freezes. It's stuck in a boot loop of about six minute intervals or so.

Any thoughts? I also noticed the color of the date and time display on my lockscreen changed to a blue-pink gradient for some reason. I don't know if its worth noting but when it turns on I find WiFi, GPS, mobile data, all turned on from the hotbar which is unusual for me.

I've managed to wipe the cache partition from recovery mode too; no luck.

Question about the symbols that appear in the upper left corner of Galaxy Note 9.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 11:53 PM PDT

Hello, I know that the symbols that appear in the upper-left corner of the Galaxy Note 9 mean those are the apps you have open/recently opened. Regarding the SnapChat symbol specifically - will it appear in the upper-left corner only if I receive a Snap, or does it appear if one of my friends added to their story as well?

ETA: Sorry, the symbols in the upper-left are the notifications. Just curious if the SnapChat one specifically- if that symbol appears only when someone snaps me or if it appears if a friend adds to their story as well.

Didn't have enough storage, installed an SD card and moved game to said SD card. Data isn't showing up.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 08:07 PM PDT

I ended up having no issues with space downloading the game now, and it says it's installed to the external, but it took up internal space and the SD card says it has no data on it, any reason this might happen?

App not opening after OS update

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 07:52 PM PDT

I updated my phone(Samsung A32 4G) to OneUI 4.1(Android 12) and now my ibisPaint X app is not opening, I tried updating it, opening it on airplane mode, uninstalling Android System Webview updates, clearing cache and more, but it always just shows the app icon over a white background for about 5 seconds before closing to the homescreen/last app active. I tried updating it using an APK but it said "Cannot update as this app is not compatible to your device", it was compatible with the last OS version, is there any way I can make it compatible with my device again or somehow downgrade my OS without hard-resetting?

PS: Clearing data/Uninstalling aren't options, I have a lot of unfinished drawings and drawings I haven't backed up. Also I'm sorry if somethings I said are hard to understand, english isn't my first language.

    Force lower camera quality?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 11:08 PM PDT

The one thing I hate the most about my S21 is the camera quality. Im not a filmmaker or photographer. I dont want HD photos or videos. I just want to snap a pic or vid and message it to people. Is there any way to force the camera quality to be worse? Like I literally want 360p video. I would give anything for this. Open to jailbreaking/ rooting my phone.

How do I grant an app access to only certain photos like on iOS? Or to add photos but not access existing ones (also an iOS permission)? I am using a Pixel with Android 12. Thanks for any advice.

How to remove bloatware for a total noob?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 04:45 PM PDT

I have a Moto G Play 2021 and it recently has been giving me so much trouble in the last year I have had to factory reset the thing. As luck would have it, all my stuff was apparently not properly backed up by Google nor WhatsApp so now all my stuff is not on my phone. That's an issue but I figure its fine, now I have a phone without all that stuff making the storage full. Or so I thought.

Literally the SECOND I reset my phone and it came on, I got bombarded with stupid apps like Facebook (barf), a bunch of stupid mobile games I had never heard of and much more. All stuff I never use so I deleted what I could. Except of course the apps that I couldn't do more than disable like YouTube Music (I use a Spotify APK) and other Google apps that I don't need.

Of course I googled how to get rid of this stuff and there are so many sites that claim to help do that. I really need help. Firstly, many of these apps have files that can help, but they're all different so how do I know which one is best/appropriate for my phone?

Secondly, how do I, a very VERY technologically illiterate person do all this without bricking my phone? I am an idior but even I know bricking is not good for me, y'all see what kind of phone I have, I couldn't buy anything else other than this one. Anyway how do I remove all these apps with the least amount of risk of bricking my phone?

PS I didn't know what flair to put so I just went with the one that had 'help' in it

    Blast from the past!

    Posted: 13 Jun 2022 02:56 PM PDT

Hi people, I'm hoping someone may be able to help me haha

Basically I found my old Sony Ericsson xperia x10 mini when clearing stuff out. Thought I'd stick it on charge to see if it works and so it does, not even a bad battery haha.

Problem is, it's on a network (orange) that is no longer a thing anymore, they are now EE in my country but the EE sim I tried wont work as phone says it's locked network still.

Does anyone know if there was ever a way to unlock the network on these without paying the stupid high prices that sites expect for it? It is running custom kernel and firmware and I'm sure I can relearn how to do it all if needed. Just be cool to use it for a bit of nostalgia 😂

Also… I looked around to see if anyone had been stupid enough to try and compile android go for it since obviously couldn't handle newer android versions. That a thing maybe? If not, does anyone know if it would be capable of I gave it a go? Little side project to keep me busy maybe haha.

Thanks if anyone is able to help :)
