We should be allowed to permanently opt out of non-security updates. Posted: 25 Apr 2022 09:28 PM PDT Small rant incoming. I like to keep my Windows installation as small as possible, and I like it to stay just the way I configured it. Cumulative and feature updates take up space, add bloat and enable things that I disabled. It feels like I'm fighting my operating system every time it gets updated. The servicing stack updates together with Defender antivirus provide excellent security, so why, Microsoft, why are you so insistent on pushing feature updates on everyone, even those who didn't want them and deferred them as long as possible? For the 50th time, I don't want to use Edge and reinstalling it with each update won't make me change my mind. Would it kill you to give an opt-out button to stubborn people like me?
