| Completely block unknown numbers from robocalls Posted: 31 Mar 2022 09:04 PM PDT I'm getting a lot spam robocalls. If you pick up the phone, the calls ends. I think it's purpose is to check if the number is alive. I tried blocking unknown/hidden numbers through "Call settings", as well as enabling "Caller ID and spam protection", but the calls still managed to get through. I also tried blocking all unknown numbers using "Do not disturb" but it seems to merely silence calls from unknown numbers; it still pops up on the screen. Is there a way to drop unknown calls completely, or to end unknown calls automatically without any pop ups? Which will be effective against these types of robocalls? I need to make their spam machine think that the number isn't active. [link] [comments] |

It's some 2 din android device for skoda, vw etc. When factory reset is done, it runs on android 9, has play store, where I download spotify etc. But after a while it updates itself to 9.1 and play store disappears. I couldn't find anything in settings to disable updates and play store is like completly gone. Couldn't find it anywhere, not even disabled apps. Gets back after factory reset. Anyone with any idea why is this happening? Happend to me 3 times, when I noticed for the first time maps were missing too. Right now play store is gone but maps are still there. [link] [comments] |
| How do I use the debug feature correctly on s21 ultra to help me diagnose a bug? Posted: 01 Apr 2022 05:12 AM PDT Hey there, So as the title suggests, I want to use the debug feature on my mobile to determine the cause of what I believe to be a bug. On the s21 Ultra you can check your advanced notification history you will see the 8 or so most recent notifications at the top and beneath is a 24 hour breakdown that let's me check every notification I received over this period, however I've noticed that it has a habit of intermittently losing the 24 hour breakdown and its resulted in an issue every time its occurred over the past few months because I forgot to reply to someone and they've presumed I'm ghosting them. I know debug mode is usually used when you know what the steps are to recreate an issue, my problem here however is that I simply do not know what's causing the problem so a longer "testing period" is needed as I don't know when this will next happen - is it possible to have debug mode on permanently so that I can check the log if/when I notice this happen again? If not, what options do I have to be able to figure out why this occurred? I'm not against plugging it into my PC if needed to figure this out. It most recently happened yesterday so I'm presuming I can't find out why at this point (?) but I need to know what app, setting or service is doing this to my phone and due to the sheer amount of stuff I have and a busy work schedule, a complete reset isn't viable right now. I have ADHD and as such, forget far more than I'd like to on any given day so I rely on my notification history A LOT, it's incredibly detrimental to my ability to get back to people and as much as I'd love to be better, it just isn't something I'm good at so any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! | What's the deal with RAM on ARM Android? Posted: 01 Apr 2022 03:54 AM PDT I'm running an app on my phone that does VMs and pc emulators called LIMBO PC emulator, in that app I'd like to allocate 1GB of ram to a VM. However it keeps crashing when I go above 512mb (which is painfully slow for any OS, let alone modern ones) saying I ran out of system ram, but my phone has 2.8GB of ram. Reading online it says lolipop android only needs 1.5gb for system functions, if I allocate 1GB to a VM I should still have 1.8GB of ram free for android (my desktop can tolerate leaving less the 1GB to the host when I run VMs). Unless I'm missing something. This isn't the first time I ran into this enigma I was trying a Minecraft java edition launcher for android and it started crashing above 700mb being allocated for the java vm. I get android uses ram in weird ways compared to more conventional OSs like linux, windows, macos, but it still seems strange to me if my phone says I have enough unused ram that I can't just use it. | "Wake screen for notifications" inconsistency Posted: 01 Apr 2022 03:35 AM PDT I'm using a Nokia X10 with Android 12 (on the Android One program). Ever since I received the update from Android 11 to 12 the "Wake screen for notifications" option's behavior has been bugging me. Whenever I receive a notification the screen wakes but it looks three different ways and I can't seem to pick the pattern. It shows the new notification on either an off-white (tinted by accent color) background, black background or transparent (wallpaper visible) background. The only consistent thing I noticed is when I receive a Viber notification, the background is always transparent. What I hate about it is that the text color for the time, date and weather info on the off-white background (which is the one that appears 90% of the time) is white and really hard to read. I loved how this feature worked on Android 11. The background behind the new notification was always black. For context: I use a light theme with a schedule that switches to dark theme at 22:00. My device has an IPS display and I have the "Always show time and info" option turned OFF. Has anyone else noticed this behavior and have you managed to fix it somehow? [link] [comments] |

Two are light bulbs, and one is a smart plug with a fan plugged in (called Fan and labeled correctly as a fan in both Google Home and the Tuya Smart app). When I tell Google to turn off the bedroom lights, it switches the smart plug off too. Any idea why that might be? [link] [comments] |

After the android 12 update if the phone is connected to a wifi witout internet it no longer use the 4g as fallback and keep the wifi active.This was useful in my car with wireless android auto. I live in China, and I broke my phone last week. My broken phone can still be turned on, but I just cant see anything on the screen. I am from the U.K so I had apps on my phone such as google drive etc. I have bought a new phone, but because of the internet censorship in China I cannot download apps like google drive on my new phone. I cannot use a VPN on my phone, because I cannot download one due to China's internet censorship. I am wondering if there is anyway I can connect my broken phone to a computer, and transfer the apps on my broken phone to my new phone through a computer. Does anyone know a way of doing this? | Is there no way to disable 'Conversations' from messing up my notifications? Posted: 31 Mar 2022 09:50 PM PDT My phone updated the other day and now when I swipe down to look at my notifications, there is a category called Conversations always above the rest of my notifications. I googled it and the concept of putting texts and similar notifications at the top makes sense in theory but it doesn't seem to to actually work that way. The only thing that shows up in that category is discord alerts from various servers that I am in. Most of these notifications are not very urgent and I do not want them in their own category. Text messages don't even show up in the 'Conversations' section so when I get a text I have to scroll down to see it even if I just got it. Ideally I just want to disable putting notifications into categories at all but I can't seem to find any way to do that. Am I missing an obvious setting or did android just force everyone to use this system? [link] [comments] |
| Time keeps changing to an hour earlier on my phone Posted: 31 Mar 2022 09:06 PM PDT Description: For the past few weeks (roughly daylight savings time) my phone keeps updating the time to be an hour earlier for no reason that I can determine. I'm not traveling/switching time zones, I'm not changing any time settings, etc. It takes a restart to fix the time. When I restart, it's the correct time again. I'm unsure if I messed something up somehow (some app has permissions to do this and is messing with my time) or if this is a known issue or something What I've tried: I disabled the "Set time automatically" option in settings and it still is happening. I just disabled "Set time zone automatically" so TBD on whether this works, but unfortunate since I do like that feature. I always update when prompted. I don't think I've installed any new apps recently (though could be mistaken here) Phone details: Android 12, Pixel 4a, AT&T (don't think it's unlocked, but don't recall 100%) EDIT: Should probably add, this has happened about 5-6 times now in the past few weeks [link] [comments] |

Apps asking me to delete files on my phone to free up space so I'm trying to move them to my PC (w11) but I can't for the life of me find any of the things I need to move DCIM does not show everything. Pictures doesn't show everything. In fact, looking at properties of all folders that populate when entering internal storage only 6.19 GB. There's an entire folder with 19+ GB that I cannot locate at all through explorer. This is fucking horrible. I wish I'd stuck with my Pixel 3XL. This shit isn't any faster, the lack of finger print reader is fucking stupid idea, especially with masks. And this is some apple level bullshittery while trying to simply access internal storage. I wanted to root it, because it was necessary to make some app work. I thought that everythong was ok, after completing magisk's installation. But, in fact, almost everything that needs a root won't work on my phone. I've been trying for 5hrs to modify my host files. It just won't work. I used a root checker and it says that my device is indeed rooted. But when you look at the detail, it says "system/bin/sh:<stdin>[10]:adb: inaccssible or not found.". I'm not an expert but I understand that even if my phone is "rooted", I don't have busybox nor SU access. I tried to install busybox.
