Posted: 08 Mar 2022 09:46 PM PST I would like to block Javascript how can I do that? Many websites have videos these days that pop up and start playing when you go to the website. Many news websites and tech websites have videos that pop up and start playing when you go to the website. It does not matter if you use Brave or FireFox with adblock plus. Some of these videos are ads and some are not ads but lots of these videos are on news websites and tech websites. How can I block Javascript to stop the videos that pop up and start playing when you go to the website? [link] [comments]

Wifi not found after transferring hardware to new motherboard Posted: 08 Mar 2022 05:32 PM PST Hi, so just recently I bought a new case and motherboard and reused most of my hardware from my previous build. It booted perfectly, however when I logged onto Windows, there was no wifi, and there's no wifi section found in the network and internet in settings. Tried troubleshooting a lot; looked at many videos solving it but no luck. Tried resetting the network adapters, troubleshooting on settings but there was an error, and tried checking on device manager for the adapter but couldn't find it. Even went on to check on services if the WWAN and WLAN were on and running and they are. Went on even to command prompt to reset the network again but still no luck. I don't know if this is a Windows problem or if it's coming from the motherboard, especially since I checked to see that there's no hardware affecting the wifi. I also can't connect to anything esp ethernet so that adds on to the problem. Here's my specs: Ryzen 7 3700x Gigabyte B550I Aorus Pro AX (rev 1.1) RAM: 16 GB GPU: MSI 2060 Super RTX Gaming x SSD: Western Digital 500GB Gaming NVMe OS: Windows 10 64-bit [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Mar 2022 07:47 PM PST To keep a long story short, sweet, and simple: My old (and school related) Gmail account was deleted around June 2020 after my graduation, therefore deleting all photos attached to my google account that weren't properly uploaded to my personal account, unbeknownst to me. I know, though people try and endlessly say they don't, that companies like Google and Instagram keep a sort of digital file cabinet of codes and html formats and a whole bunch of technological stuff that makes up your digital profile. And your digital footprint cannot fully be erased; therefore, my account, information, photos, and even old emails are floating around somewhere, where some people can access it, but not me. Is there any way to recover my account now, in 2022? Or will my things forever be locked away in some encrypted cabinet? And on that note, with identity theft and such being a thing, can hackers come across my files and information? It's frustrating to think about. And so I was redirected here. [link] [comments]
Need HELP picking a RAM for my laptop. Posted: 08 Mar 2022 01:01 PM PST I got this laptop from the trade school I went to and it basically doesn't run properly. It's soooo incredibly slow and I've deleted all the extra shit on it. Ideally I'd like to be able to play video games on it. I don't know know where to start in how to pick one. All the prices vary drastically. My laptop is a Lenovo if that changes anything. Thank you for any help or direction. [link] [comments]
Grundig Smart TV having issues with web apps? It will play videos but it won't show the menus? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 06:40 AM PST For example if I turn on YouTube it will show a blank screen. When I click "OK" on the remote it plays some video. If I click "OK" twice it will pause the video but I'll only see the video, no menu around it, no recommended videos, nothing. If I click back I go back to the blank screen. Same with Netflix, if I spam okay when I enter it will play a show or movie. It is the same with Prime video, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Smart TV apps, the TV browser and even screencast. What could be the issue? We already checked the network stuff, reseted the network and modem, reset the TV and switched up a million settings (we switched them back). Could this be some TV issue or something similar? Thanks for reading! [link] [comments]

Unsure about the security of a mini-PC my father bought Posted: 08 Mar 2022 09:27 AM PST My father recently bought a mini-PC off Amazon with very little consideration and honestly I'm doubting how secure it is. I can find almost nothing about it online aside from a website and the Amazon listing which has only 31 reviews. The listing is Here. I'm a comp sci student but don't know much about security and malware so I'm a bit out of my depth on vetting the machine. My biggest concern is some preloaded malware or spyware that could be skimming passwords or data and sending it to god knows where. If anyone has any experience with this type of machine or brand or if any major red flags are there I'd love to know. I for one don't plan on logging into anything on it any time soon. Thanks in advance for any advice. [link] [comments]
I'm getting a black screen of death on my Dell G15 Ryzen Edition (5515) Posted: 08 Mar 2022 05:38 AM PST BACKSTORY: I had gotten this laptop back in June in 2021 ( it has only been about 9 months up until now). I have played MANY games throughout those months, some more demanding than others. Recently, I decided to go back to APEX since my buddy and I hadn't played that game for like two years. For the next week, we would casually play and enjoy our fun together. We had about 5-6 sit downs playing it. Yesterday we decided that since we worked the very next day , we'd play only 5 games. Everything went well, though, on the 5 game. We got to second place before getting killed. This is where the issue starts..... MAIN ISSUE: Once killed, the game over prompt pops up as usual, though some of the options stayed grayed out. I thought maybe just glicthed or temp frozen, so I waited a minute. Nothing... I decided to Windows key and close the game... nothing... alt f4 still nothing. I was left with having to turn the laptop off, to which I couldn't just press the button. I had to hold it down, which it eventually turned off. After giving it a few minutes to relax, I turned it back on to which the control key which has a little light on, it lights up. The screen, on the other hand, does not... I obviously got really scared and searched on my phone with various solutions to this. Here's what I have tried so far and what I haven't yet out of safety. I would like to note that discord at the time was still active, as I was able to communicate with my buddy while everything was frozen. What I tried: -30 seconds hold down power button for hard reboot -Ctrl+windows+shift+B to restart the graphics driver (nothing) -Unplugged the power cord and did another hard reboot -I pressed a few keys to see if they would respond as they should? The ctrl key light should turn on and off every time I press it, though it stays on. -I opened the back panel of the laptop and simply removed and reinserted the ram cards and SSD cards. -did a quick dust cleaning of the laptop, though the laptop was already fairly clean. -since I needed to go to bed, I decided to leave the laptop turned on overnight to see if maybe it needed time? What I did not try: -replace ram cards ( some site suggested this ) -Hold down the power button multiple times? Basically restarting the laptop a few times ( again, site suggestion ) -To disconnect the power bar in the laptop and only use the power cord as the power source. -A few other things to which I can't remember being suggested. Any idea what could be the cause of the BSOD? Any ideas on how to fix it? **Edit: Well, so much for FAST response, lol. [link] [comments] |
