I live in a rural area and just won't buy satellite internet and starlink is booked here. Would something like PdaNet while using the "hide tethering" hinder my data from being used up? Keep in mind I don't have any separate data for hotspot or tethering, what I get is just plain mobile data. Also any other recommendations other than PdaNet would be cool. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Mar 2022 04:52 PM PDT I recently acquired a new Android mobile phone and while setting it up I got curious about what other browsers are out there. I've always used Chrome on my mobile phones (always Android), I've gotten accustomed to the interface and really like the new dynamic theming/monet engine (this feature seems to work best on Chrome with my device, I also tried Brave, Vivaldi and Opera browser just now). I read several posts that vouched for quitting Chrome and I get the reasons. But even though I could quit Chrome, I'd still frequently use Google Maps, Gmail, Google Drive, Gboard, YouTube and Google itself (on pc mostly, I'd probably use Startpage search engine on mobile if I would switch to another browser). Since all these apps are owned by Google, I started to wonder, does it even make a difference if I quit Chrome but keep on using a bunch of other Google owned apps? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Mar 2022 05:34 AM PDT Hey all I use Google MyMaps a fair bit to give me a visual guide for the locations of police stations in my state (odd I know) My computer is currently broken but I'd like to add onto the map from my tablet I know the MyMaps website is still around, but I find it a little finicky to use (apps was too but not quite as bad) Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want the contents to remain, I just want to be able to use the card instead of buying another one. Card was fine for almost 2 years, then recently during a large download (directly to the card), a message kept popping up that "your card has been set to read only, please backup data and format". | Has anyone tried Yandex keyboard? Posted: 23 Mar 2022 06:12 PM PDT Text prediction and overall usability seems miles ahead of Gboard and Swiftkey. At least for me. The concern I have that its Russian based but looking at the settings they seem less intrusive than Google's. I could be wrong but anyone tried using it and helping with feedback. | Automatically Extract Archives? Posted: 23 Mar 2022 07:06 PM PDT I'm trying to figure out how I might automatically extract archives (7z, rar, zip, cbz, etc...) when they're moved into a monitored directory. Being able to specify the output would be nice too. I download them quite often and manually extracting and then relocating them is getting old. I think Tasker might be the app to make this happen, but I'm not sure how or what apps I would need alongside it. And this specific song which was fine editing a few seconds ago says "This file-format is not supported by the Tag Editor". This file has always been .m4a. I don't want to delete and redownload my song again, or else I would have my playback history cleared. I even restarted my phone and did the advanced scan but it's still the same. How do I fix this? I am from India and call recording is available in my location but i don't know what happens to this shitty dialer periodically it disables the call recording and doesn't let me enable it too and a red bar is there stating call recording is not available in your location. Now if i restart or sometimes just put my phone to flight mode and then enable sims again the red bar goes away and i can enable auto recording again. | Posted: 23 Mar 2022 11:45 AM PDT I have an LG Stylo 6 and it has the Pen Pop built into it, and I mostly use it for the Draw Chat, which allows you to draw with 8 seconds worth of recording the pen. I'm in need of a new phone soon and not sure if I'll stick with LG, but want to keep using Draw Chat (since I'm doing an 8 second Pokemon challenge for myself) Are there any other apps that do this?
