Google removes popular app Speedcheck Pro from Play Store

    Posted: 26 Mar 2022 03:25 AM PDT

Just woke up and noticed a new notification from Google Play Store: Speedcheck Pro was disabled because it puts your device at risk.

In Google Play Protection it says: This app is fake. It tries to take over your device or steal your data

The app can't be found in the Play Store anymore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.speedspot.speedanalytics

    Google cache: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:vOPb4maLNiUJ:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details%3Fid%3Dorg.speedspot.speedanalytics%26hl%3Den_US%26gl%3DUS+&cd=1&hl=fi&ct=clnk&gl=us

Speedcheck Pro is one of the more popular speed test apps with over 10 million installations, over half a million reviews and 4.6/5 rating..

I have no problems with uninstalling it, but does anyone know what actually got it removed?

Semi-universal custom ROM full flashing guide for Xiaomi devices

    Posted: 26 Mar 2022 09:00 AM PDT

    Disclaimer:

    • I am not responsible for bricked devices or any hardware issues.
    • ROM installation may vary on device. Please read flashing instructions from the ROM maker.

    1. Unlocking bootloader

Xiaomi account needs to be added.

    1. Enable developer options (guide here)
    2. Find OEM unlocking and enable that.
    3. Go to Mi Unlock Status. Click on add account (mobile data are needed for this).
    4. Download the official unlock tool here
    5. On your phone, hold power and volume down buttons, untill you'll reboot to fastboot.
    6. Plug your phone into your PC, run the unlock tool, click refresh, select your device and click unlock.
    7. If the unlock says "Unknown error (-1)", try downloading an older version (if link goes bad contact me and I'll fix it).
    8. Now you should have your bootloader unlocked.

Note: On newer phones, it will give you waiting time untill you can unlock your bootloader (up to 1 month). The time is counted when you add your account in developer options.

    2. Downloading resources

    1. Firstly, you have to download TWRP here. (May vary on device, please read recovery requirements from ROM maker)
    2. Download your desired ROM (I recommend from XDA or Telegram).
    3. Download GApps - up to Android 11 for now. For Android 12, use BiTGApps or NikGApps.
    4. Optional - Magisk (for root).

    3. Installing the ROM

Installing TWRP (May vary on device, please read recovery requirements from ROM maker)

    1. Rename the downloaded TWRP file to recovery.img (optional, easier to work with in future steps).
    2. Open cmd and navigate to downloads (or you can shift right click -> open in terminal).
    3. Reboot your phone into fastboot (hold power and volume down buttons).
    4. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
    5. Type "fastboot boot recovery.img", to make sure TWRP flashed successfully.
    6. Now type "fastboot reboot" and hold volume up key untill TWRP boots.

Wiping necesarry partitions (May vary on device, please read flashing instructions from ROM maker)

    1. If TWRP doesn't recognize your internal storage (0 MB), DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING. Go to Wipe -> Format data -> type yes -> tap enter. This will wipe your internal storage and data. After that, go back -> Reboot > Recovery.
    2. After you've booted into TWRP, click wipe -> Advanced wipe -> select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Cache -> Swipe to Wipe. After done, go back.

Installing the actual ROM (May vary on device, please read flashing instructions from ROM maker)

    1. Plug your phone in your PC and transfer the ROM and GApps.
    2. Optional step: If you want root, change the downloaded Magisk file extension from .apk to .zip and transfer to your phone.
    3. Now go to Install -> select ROM -> Swipe to Flash.
    4. Go back, Install -> select GApps -> Swipe to Flash.
    5. Go back, Install -> select Magisk -> Swipe to Flash (optional).

    Happy flashing!

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Note: This has been reposted from Xiaomi subreddit. This post was made by me. I'm just spreading information that you might find helpful.
