    Messenger or Messenger lite?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2022 05:49 AM PST

I only use it for the messaging. Lite seems to be missing the ability to draw on images if I am not mistaken? I like to be able to draw penises on family photos. It also seems to be missing the about to search through a message thread, which I use quite a bit. There is also no gallery mode for all pictures sent which I use all the time. Why would I use lite over Messenger?

    How is BlackHole music player?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 10:29 PM PST

I recently came across this foss music app, I like the concept of a streaming app that can also handle offline music very well; however it didn't ask me to sign in to my YouTube and I am not getting personalized recommendations even when I have used it for a few days now. Do you know if the recommendations will improve over time?

    Tap to wake

    Posted: 29 Jan 2022 01:47 AM PST

I bought a tablet that doesn't seem to have the function I'm interested in (tap to wake). Do you guys know if there is an app that can perform this function? Alternatively, using the volume keys would also be fine. As you may have guessed, I'd like to avoid overusing the power button. TIA

Do any software / tweak really has efficiently increased your battery life on rooted/non rooted phone ?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 03:25 PM PST

I am trying for years to find the magic stuff to increase my battery life beyond basics. I came across with tons of apps, just to mention some: Greenify, Naptime, Servicely, Lean Droid, Wakeblock, FKM Magisk modules: Universal gms doze, LMK tweaks Scripts, governor...

But beside placebo i never have experienced a lot of improvement so far. Of course some tweaks slightly improved battery life but mostly in trade of freezes, instability, big performance loss... which i think is rarely worth those few extra minutes.

Do you guys have made better experiences ? Can we solve the big question of tweaking battery life is a thing or marketing ?

Thus, I'm looking for an app that makes a record of files I've shared with it?

There is a way or app to make the UI menus to change colors depending on the art album of the music I play in my S10?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 06:07 PM PST

Weird idea that I think could be a little nice thing to have and make the phone more "expressive and personalized" with some colors that matches the art of the album that you are playing at the moment. I feel like it would be nice to see my menus turn to green and black while listening to "Disintegration" by The Cure and then seeing the system change to light blue and yellow to match some song from " Solar Power" by Lorde.

LoboWiki stopped working. Is there another Wikipedia app where you can queue articles in the background with 1 click?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 03:26 PM PST

For me, reading an article and queuing other articles in the background is the only feasible way of deep diving into a topic on Wikipedia.

Looking for a good note taking app

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 02:54 PM PST

Hi, I'm looking for a note taking app with these requirements and I would like you guys to help me find one:

    • Can sync between Android and Windows
    • Can create folders, subfolders, subsubfolders etc

I've tried these apps but didn't like them for these reasons:

    • OneNote - Andriod version can't sort pages
    • Notion - No offline mode
    • Evernote - Bloated and buggy
    • Joplin - Synchronization is too slow and it's not automatic (only happens every 5 minutes)

I'm open to the possibility that I'm wrong about the apps I tried.

    An alternative to Newsblur

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:34 PM PST

I'd like to find an alternative to Newsblur as an RSS reader. The most important feature for me is the possibility of filtering articles by tags. In Newsblur this is called "Training". You can choose to load and read only articles with specific tags. The articles with tags you don't like are hidden, so you don't waste your time reading them.

Is there something similar on Android? Thanks!

    Good art/drawing app for S-Pen?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:02 PM PST

I'm looking for a good drawing app that can actually make use of the pressure feature of the S-pen. Ideally one that's free or like, sub-$10

There's PenUp and S note, but I can't seem to find any others. Krita has an android beta but it's essentially unusable on a phone-sized screen. Seems kind of silly to me. 4096 levels of pen pressure and... two apps I can use it in.

[Request] What is the best messenging app that is safe for kids? Needs to be available for iOS also and function without a SIM.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2022 10:18 AM PST

My kids and their friends are getting to the age where they are starting to get hand-me-down phones. iPhones and Androids too. I overheard them discussing that they can't message some of their friends because they're on iPhones but the friend is on Android. I would like to encourage them to all download the same app so no one gets excluded. The only one I have tried is Wire (silly interface) and (years ago) Hangouts. Any suggestions?
