| Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:07 AM PST I gave back a carrier branded Oppo Find X3 Neo believing it had a defective screen to get another one on offer on Amazon no brand, but this too crushes the black / dark scenes with halos, pixels, marked shades, artifacts, etc ... A guy told me did go in the developer options and put the flag to "disable hardware overlay" and now It doesn't do this "defect" anymore but I noticed that the battery drops significantly faster ... Do you know what that setting does and if there is a way to solve the problem without activating it and without making a second return? PS: apparently not all the Neo as that defect (which is seen more when you have high brightness) [link] [comments] |
| How to switch the default camera to front facing. Posted: 05 Dec 2021 11:43 AM PST Hi all, As the title suggests, is it possible to switch the default camera to the front facing camera? Any tweaks in the system to enable this? I'm on Android 7.0. The reason I want to try this; my main camera is damaged - I suspect due to rainwater. It can still take photos and video (though they come out slightly blurry) but it can't recognize QR codes - which I now need to enable whatsapp.web on a laptop. When I select the whatsapp.web option on my phone, it automatically opens the back camera to scan the QR code. So if I can change the default camera to the front facing, I may be able to scan the QR code. Of course this may not be a camera issue at all but at least it's something I can rule out. I looked everywhere; helium, adb commands, but all of them require android 4.0+. | Posted: 05 Dec 2021 10:55 AM PST It's weird, I was turning up the volume and the cast icon suddenly appeared there with the normal volume and notification volumes, like if I was already streaming or casting, I'm using a Huawei y9 pro if that makes any difference. | Posted: 05 Dec 2021 10:44 AM PST I have an iPhone 8 that is around two years old and it will not charge without me physically pressing the charger into the phone. I press the nub of the charger into the phone and it charges, but the moment I let go the phone stops charging. This isn't the first iPhone I've owned and they all ended up dying this way. Do Android phones also have this problem? I like having a smartphone, but I don't want to have to replace it every few years. [link] [comments] |

Tried to sideload the image.zip from development.google.com and no go. Getting a device unauthorized in terminal kill-server, shell, rebooted and no go. No backups, did dumb. Is the pooch screwed? I recently reconnected with someone and I really would like to get back some old messages and pictures we exchanged on snapchat. Its a lot more complicated than i worded it but yeah lol. I tried different techniques online but I keep being led to .nomedia files which are apparently supposed to exist in my snapchat cache folder. Only thing is the folder is empty on my phone. I have allowed hidden files to be shown as well. Others say i should root and do a deep recovery but both my warranty and my limited trust in myself to not break the phone completely prevent me from doing so. I have a galaxy s10+ btw. Anyways, anything non root related and any advice as to how to find these .nomedia files is much appreciated. [link] [comments] |

| Removing song/album covers from Google Photos Posted: 05 Dec 2021 09:30 AM PST I use Musicolet for all of my music, and when I download the music files so that I can listen to them, it automatically creates a new folder for the album or song, and it puts the image file for the song or album cover inside of it. However, this means that I now have hundreds of these individual folders sitting in the device folder section of Google photos. Basically, I want a way exclude all of these from Google photos. They're all contained within my Music folder, and there are no other images that I would need access to that are in that folder. Is there a simple way to just exclude the Music folder from Google photos in order to not show them in the device folders section? [link] [comments] |

| Unbrick Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (SM-P610)? Posted: 05 Dec 2021 08:56 AM PST I have a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite tablet that I have bricked pretty hard, and am looking for a point in the right direction to get it recovered. I went through the process to get LineageOS installed successfully, so everything is unlocked. But something happened when I tried to get Magisk installed. Now the tablet will only come up with a big exclamation point "An error has occurred while updating the device software". I can't get into download or recovery modes and none of the usual tools (Odin, Heimdall, or adb) can see the device. Samsung Smart Switch acknowledges when the device is plugged in, but it can't seem to do anything either as the device doesn't show up in the Emergency Software Recovery. I have also tried a couple random generic Android one-click unbrick tools, but the couple that I have tried don't have SM-P610 as a listed option. I have the stock ROMs downloaded via Frija (AP, BL, CSC), so I suspect that I have what I need at hand, but nothing seems to be able to send these to the device. Any pointers that may get me to a place where I can install the original ROMs and try again? Anything that can help this tablet show signs of life? [link] [comments] |

I've got pretty much the exact same issue as described here, in that I a couple time a day get an Android notification that someone commented on "untitled presentation". The reference article suggest blocking the user, but when I open Google Drive I can't find any presentation name "untitled presentation", so I have no way to block the user. Has anyone here had the same issue, and knows how to fix it? I apologize if this was not the ideal subreddit to post this question on, but https://www.reddit.com/r/google rejected it, and plus this happens only on my Android device (as opposed to my desktop), so in that regards it may be a suitable post for this subreddit after all. Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:56 AM PST I've mostly used Nexus/Pixel phones and was going to get the pixel 6 Pro when it came out but am holding off for now due to a lot of issues I'm reading about the signal loss problems many people have reported and honestly, I'm not too crazy about the curved screen and all the glass since I tend to use my phone in rougher environments. And there is no more unlimited photos on google photos so there is no extra incentive to stay with the Pixel line. I don't think my current phone will last for another year so I'm coming to terms with the possibility of *egads* using a non-google phone. My only experience with non-Pixel phones is helping set up feature phones from Moto and Samsung for older relatives and it always feels weird because their contact list isn't the google contact list. How hard is to keep a Samsung or OnePlus contact list with Google Contacts? Do I have to sync everything everytime I add or delete a name or is it done automatically? While on the topic, can I just use the Google contacts app or am I stuck with the manufacturer? How does Google Assistant work? Can I still say "Ok Google" from across the room and unlock my phone automatically or does it only work when the phone is unlocked? What about saved passwords? Are my saved passwords on google's password manager still useable? How easy is it to transfer all my apps, saved wifi passwords, etc. to a new phone? Going from Nexus to Pixel was nearly automatic. Mostly games that I haven't played for a few months. But one of the apps was Google's "find my device".
