A fix for Microsoft Forcing Edge in Windows 11 Builds 22494 and newer

A fix for Microsoft Forcing Edge in Windows 11 Builds 22494 and newer

    Hi all,

I'm Robert Maehl, developer of WhyNotWin11. Recently, I heard the announcement that Microsoft is forcing people to use Microsoft Edge again. They did this by breaking the microsoft-edge: implementation for other apps. I had developed a separate solution back in July but other existing solutions worked earlier in the process. Alas, all of those solutions are now broken, as such I've taken the project back off the shelf and preliminary testing has gone well. Instead of hooking the handler like everyone else, it just throws the command line parameters to your default browser.

Big Thanks to CornFlakes from r/ASRock

It's available on my github: https://github.com/rcmaehl/MSEdgeRedirect/releases/latest and is open source as always. Please submit any bug reports on the issues tab.

P.S. I contacted an existing popular dev with the fix but they just deleted my comment from their repo :c

Is it necessary to make a backup of all my PC files before switching to Windows 11?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 06:53 PM PST

I am wondering if I should create a full backup of all my PC files before switching to windows 11. Also, has there been an incident when someone loses their PC files while switching to window 11?

Windows 11 Update KB5007215 made Latency even worse than bevor

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 02:51 AM PST

Hello everyone, I have a very short questionnaire for a school project. Could you please fill it?

Windows 11 isn’t actually that bad.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 08:12 AM PST

Let me explain. Some of the features in Windows 11 are weird and unnatural for mouse & keyboard users (right click menus, ui spacing), but if you look at it as a pure touchscreen os, it's actually one of the best i've seen. Put iPadOS into comparison. All Microsoft needs to work on now is fluent design, removing unneeded apps (especially control panel) and making the quick settings menu easier to use.

If Microsoft changed all of the things I mentioned above, I could easily see myself using a Windows 11 tablet without a keyboard & mouse.

***This is just my personal opinion.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 10:59 AM PST

Basically everytime i restore windows, theres such a high chance that it completly fucks up the pc

today i restored windows and now my PC is frozen in a pale black screen

Last time i restored my PC nothing happened, but remember before that my PC looped the booting

Why do so many problems occur

Best android emulator for windows 10? - 2021

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 10:56 AM PST

Hey guys, I've been searching for some good emulators but can never get any real clarity, like people saying some emulators are good and others saying the same ones are bad.

So far I've seen people recommending against Bluestacks and Nox, seems like they're troublemakers(?)

I've seen people recommend LDPlayer and Mumu

But since most threads I find online are outdated (usually around 1 year ago), I decided to ask the questions again.

So with that said, what is the best emulator?

(Oh and if helps, I'm planning to play Azur Lane on it)

    Sound buttons

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 08:52 AM PST

When I was playing full screen game I was using these quick sound (pause/play, 30 seconds forward,10 seconds back) buttons so easily with keys but now it is not possible to do that in Windows 11. At least give a feature to use them while full screen.

Folder properties taking long time in Server 2012 R2 64bit

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 12:39 AM PST

We have a physical windows 2012 R2 64bit acting as file server in our Active Directory Domain. It have quite heavy hardware specs with enterprise level storage/cpu/ram. General functions / folder copying is very fast as well via 10G network. Latest Symantec antivirus is installed as well which updates daily via central SEPM server. Windows Update is also done on a daily basis via WSUS.

When we right click on folder & click on properties , it takes almost 20-30 seconds to display its properties. I tried uninstalling the SEP but no use.

    * Intel xeon gold 16 cores cpu x 2 | 128 GB RAM | 300GB x 2 for OS | 1.8 T B 10krpm SAS disks x 10 in RAID 10 mode for file sharing folders.it's not DC, its a member server. We have 2 dc's on separate vm guests. it happens to every folder on this server either in OS drive or other drive.

I tried creating new folder and take its properties, its taking same amount of time as compared to older shared non-shared folders/

What other things I can check/try to get folder properties instantly. We have thousands of folders which requires permission assignment for various users, but this slowness is killing ! Please advise.
